So the product arrived on Saturday and was put through its paces yesterday with 4 washes - baby clothes, our clothes, nappy wash and hand washing.

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump? I like the packaging. It is neat and fits nicely into our cupboard. It was easy to use, however the first two squirts went over the soap dispenser which was my error. I didn't try squirting it into the drum directly, which would have been very simple! So overall I am positive about it and it compares very well against other washing liquids in both the eco and non-eco ranges.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid? Not in terms of the packaging or product, however I dont know how expensive it is and whether you can buy refills for it which would highlight its environmental credentials still further. Perhaps being able to buy it in different sizes would be good, both larger sizes as well as smaller sizes for traveling.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power? I liked the smell of the product, however we also use a fabric softener so I cant really tell how much it lingers on clothes after the wash. The wash was good. Everything has come out clean. I didn't use it on very stained clothes though, so I have no idea how it would cope with them. However, on a general wash it coped well in all four washes listed above.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? Yes I would recommend it to a friend, however it would depend on the price of the product and also how easy it is to find on the supermarket shelves. I would discuss its environmental nature, quality of packaging and washing ability, all of which would be highlighted in a positive light.

Thanks for choosing me to test it.

Well I've been testing for over a week now and have used it on towels (at 90 degrees) filthy whites, delicates and coloured stuff - the full range of beagle family washing Xmas Smile

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

We loved it in our house! DS (6) loved helping and counting out the squirts from the bottle and deciding how many squirts the washing needed. You really do only need 4 squirts to clean even a fairly grubby white wash which was great. The pump action on the bottle has been consistent, again something that often irritates me as pump action bottles often fail or stick etc.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Actually I was surprised how much I loved this - I often use Eco detergents and am often disappointed about how well they clean - this didn't disappoint at all. I would prefer it if it came in slightly bigger bottles and, as others have said, it is quite expensive compared to other products

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
The beagle family were unanimous in really liking the smell, it was fresh, not overpowering, and obviously not chemically. DD said it smelled "exactly like clean" which I think is pretty spot on. At the school gates this week a couple of times mums asked me what detergent/fabric softener I used as I smelled really fresh (hmmm perhaps using too much??). It really cleaned well, better than other ecos I've used and easily as well as the bios.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yep I would most definitely recommend it and have already done so.

CombineBananaFister · 05/12/2012 20:29

Bloody hell, every one is soo quick with their laundry only just done mine on day off despite getting it 4 days ago Blush
Great 1st impression - we have a tiny apartment and space is limited for humongous powder boxes, we also don't drive so excellent to get home on a bike.
Wouldn't change a thing unless price is too high? don't know
Really pleased with fragrance or actually the lack of it, no overly harsh perfumes just aclean smell which is what I like - i put perfume on for smell!. Cleaning powr? excellent on chefs whites (but with extra pump or pump into drum)
Would recommend, thought it would be a bit less powerfull and more perfumy so dead impressed it wasn't. Have not had any ezcema/allergic reaction to it either as i do with some conventional sensitive powders.
tres happy Grin

CatR1 · 05/12/2012 20:34

Q1 - The pump action bottle is efficient and saves spillage. Compared to other brands it's hard for me to believe it will last 25 washes. I've done two so far.

Q2 - The smell is lovely and fresh but I love the smell of Method lavender cleaning spray. Laundry smelling similar to this would be a winner for me.

Q3 As above. Cleaning power good so far.

Q4 - yes, I like the packaging and it works well.

professorpoopsnagle · 05/12/2012 21:04

I have done 4 washes, 3 darks and 1 white.

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I liked it, although the very first squirt did go awry, the others have met their target. I prefer to squirt in the drawer than on the clothes. I would consider taking this on holiday as it is compact and hopefully watertight.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid? No.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power? I liked the fragance, enough but not over powering. It seemes to have cleaned everything, including the white wash well. I haven't really tested it on stains/mud etc but I think he squirt action would be a boon there.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I would recommend it as an eco liquid which works. I am not sure it would appeal to anyone who wasn't bothered by the eco ness, as I think they would go for price over the credentials.

MILdesperandum · 05/12/2012 21:16

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Clean and quick method of adding detergent - I don't imagine my washing machine drawer would get filled up with crud like it does with my normal powder.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
I'd like more scent, that's just me, I think I'd be tempted to try some of the other scents
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I couldn't detect the fragrance on my clothes... we had the "fresh air" if that's the translation (!) so maybe that's the point
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes I would recommend it is mess free, space saving and eco-friendly

Mandz07 · 05/12/2012 21:30

Q1. I thought the product was great l
Q2. Would like it if there was more of a fragrance from the liquid as I love to have my washing smelling great.
Q3.fragrance could have been better.
Q4.would definitely recommend to others infact have already told family about this product

RichTeaAreCrap · 05/12/2012 22:14

I've done another 2 loads tonight with my Method - I left feeback earlier in the thread but I am more impressed with it the more I use it. I love it now and love the smell of my washing.

SaintNiChaolas · 05/12/2012 22:24

I'm quite impressed with it - DH's scuzzy garden clothes came up clean and smelling fresh, even after a day burning STUFF in the garden.

I like the pump - easy to use, and avoids that horrid drawer clogginh marlakey.

Thanks for the chance to try it.

Smile
WineGless · 05/12/2012 22:33

Just picked up my tester today from Post Office so first load is on. Will report back

blondietinsellyminx · 05/12/2012 22:33

Thank you very much to MNHQ for choosing me to take part in the test. Just signing in with my feedback too Smile.

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

The product is well packaged and I like the scent of the product. DD 2.10 enjoyed playing with the packaging - I gave her some cups and utensils to scoop and stir the polystyrene lumps and she liked that Grin

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

Yes - make it stronger cleaning. I did a 2/3 load and it didn't come up as clean as when I use my usual powder (usually use either the Aldi own brand or Bold). In particular, it failed to lift tomato sauce from Bob the Builder pasta shapes.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

Fragrance is pleasant but doesn't seem like it will be that long lasting (barely any scent left at the end of the day). The cleaning power wasn't as good as my usual laundry detergent which is a shame as I like the idea of Method, that it's more environmentally friendly etc - but I'm not willing to have my DD's clothes less clean than they could be!

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

In my experience, the cleaning power hasn't been as good as my usual brand and for that reason I couldn't recommend it. It might be fine for people whose clothes don't tend to get much soiling..? But I have a toddler who is still prone to the odd spillage so I need something that'll shift whatever substance DD throws at her clothes!

bearcub1 · 05/12/2012 22:34

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Really liked it. Convent and so easy to use, lovely smell, great at cleaning, small packaging,
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
I wouldn't change the product at all, but maybe the price?
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power? I really liked the cleaning power of the product. Matched exactly against biological powder to remove breastfeed baby poo. Poo was still there after one wash after soaking the vests, but after two washes stain had been removed.
I really liked the smell, not too overpowering or feminine. Washing smelt fresh when dried inside on an airer, in tumble dryer and on
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would
you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes I would. Cleaned great, smelt great and good Eco credentials.

fishandlilacs · 05/12/2012 22:38

Think might be allergic to it. Noooooooooo. Been wearing method washed clothes today for the first time and i have a itchy blotchy rash around my shoulders, bum tummy and waistband..anywhere the clothes sit next to skin. Don't react to cheap aldi or others. Really sad..does anyone know if its a bio.liquid?

EmLH · 05/12/2012 22:58

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

I think it's a nice idea and I like their eco ethos. Bottle looks smart and saves space. Pump also makes it quite easy to get product into the drawer, especially because my washing machine is hidden by a cupboard which means I usually have to take the drawer right out in order to get powder in. I think Method come across as quite a sleek company and I have used other products made by them, which all smell lovely. I was therefore a bit disappointed that my product took ages to arrive and was then labelled in French. The lack of capitalisation on the letter also really irritated me and they didn't really give us much info about the product, i.e. rrp. I know it's a bit irrelevant to the actual product but it has slightly tarred my view of them (or at least their marketing dpt!)

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

The smell. I'm really not keen and, like a lot of others, would much prefer a herby, natural smell. I would most liken it to a cheap air freshener.

I also noticed that my clothes lost the smell after drying and therefore don't smell freshly washed like I am used to. They just seemed to smell of nothing and also seemed a bit harder than normal. The first wash I put in without fabric softener so that I could properly comment on the smell of the new product, but when I tried again with my normal softener added, they still felt a bit more brittle than usual. Could be due to drying on radiator but I'm not convinced.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

As above, really not keen. Cleaning power seems average, about as good as my normal products. Didn't have any extra dirty washing to really test this but a previously damp flannel came out still smelling a bit iffy.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

No. My usual products (waitrose non-bio capsules and waitrose own white fabric conditioner) smell a lot nicer and I'm happy with their performance. Maybe if they came up with a new fragrance and added a softener, I would buy again and then reconsider. Shame, as I love their stuff usually and really like the fact that I can clean my home with much less harsh formulas. I especially love their almond wooden floor cleaner as it smells so nice it actually gives me an incentive to clean my floor! I have recommended this numerous times and had positive comments on the smell of the room too!

Even though my review is not positive, I appreciate the chance to give the product a try as I have thought about buying it for a while. If I was to give feedback in one sentence, it would be 'Nice idea which could be successful with a little tweaking.'

sleepdodger · 06/12/2012 00:08

1- Impression- good pump technique, wasn't sure about dispensing straight into drum
2-Change- price- unless on offer would think twice about buying it. On a good offer I'd bulk buy. I think a non bio version would be good for kids too. I needed to use more squirts than stated to cope with nursery clothes (paint mud etc) which was fine but less cost effective
It would be good if they did a conditioner too
3- Fragrance- nice for line dry but not quite able to cope with being left in machine for day, ie washing in in morning pre work, on rack at night on return home. As some others have said not as amazing fragrance as other method products
4- Recommend - yes at right price because it's not as 'nasty' as alternatives.....
I love method products and rave about them- this one is ok in comparison rather than fab!

CelineMcBean · 06/12/2012 00:33

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

I love the dinky pump but will be interested to see how easy it is to get the last of the product out. Product works well on a normal wash. Clothes come out fresh and clean. The washable nappies are more stained (breastfed baby) than they were with Ariel but still clean and smell fresh. It didn't get out a grease spot from spilt dinner. Worked well on blood stains after DS had a nosebleed all over bed and got it all out. Also got out chocolate. Didn't get baby poo off white item even with pre-treating. Too early to tell how well it prevents colour fade. I like that it can go in either the drum or drawer and doesn't need any faffy dispenser so I can set the machine to tumble dry after the wash cycle without having to fish a ball or cap out of the wet washing first.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

The price. It's too expensive and I wouldn't buy it at that price for every day washing. I would like to use a refill to make the product cheaper and greener after the initial purchase.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

I didn't think it smelt as nice as other Method products but I was impressed that my washing still smelt fresh when I took it out of the machine a few hours after the cycle finished. See above for cleaning power.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

Yes I would as an every day laundry liquid if it was less expensive. I like that it's green and doesn't use much nor require an in drum dispenser. I would not recommend for heavily soiled items but I don't use my usual laundry liquid on tough stains either. The only thing that would really put me off is cost.

poachedeggs · 06/12/2012 03:54

Q1 - great packaging, compact size, easy to use, smells great
Q2 - I don't think so- I've been genuinely impressed by it.
Q3 - I liked the smell. It has cleaned well so far.
Q4 - probably, just because it's so great to have it in such a teeny bottle!

Vixjax · 06/12/2012 05:34

Method has grown on me. I initially posted an indifferent comment after 2 washes, but actully having done about 7 washes now, I like it, the smell is good, it is convenient though I am using more pumps than recommended for full loads of soiled white washing( 8 wk old breastfed baby) it is good for hand washing too and the pump is very convenient compared to the spillage with powder. Only thing that would put me off is cost, I always buy none bio due to our baby but also it is a requirement of our Klargester environmentally friendly septic tank. I tend to buy whatever brand powder is on offer/best value for money, and reckon I get more washes from £4.99 box of powder than 1 container of method- I would buy it for £5 I think. I would recommend it to a friend though it terms if practicality and performance. It would need to be available in most supermarkets for me to buy it, not just waitrose, though I often shop Ocado online

ISawSantaKissingThePortlyPinUp · 06/12/2012 08:55

The only negative I've found is that coming to the last third of the bottle it's hard to judge if its a full squirt or not as its started to struggle to squirt the last bit.

Jins · 06/12/2012 09:27

Vixjax it's stocked in Tesco, Sainsburys and Morrisons near to me. It's always on some sort of offer at one or the other of them. I've seen it for £4.50 and also two for £8

EarthMotherImNot · 06/12/2012 10:32

Q1 It looks great, small but functional.

Q2 Like many posters it would be fantastic if it was cheaper.

Q3 It smells clean and fresh and coped well with normal everyday dirt.

Q4 I already haveSmile

maybeyoushouldrivesantassleigh · 06/12/2012 10:48

Has anyone found it makes fleeces smell horrible? All my other washing smells great, nice and fresh, but my dds fleeces smell like they've been in the machine too long IYKWIM?

is1 · 06/12/2012 11:33

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

Really like it, like the small size - it doesn't take up too much room in the cupboard, pump works really well (as long as it is upright), love the smell, like the fact it is Eco friendly. No powder or liquid spills to deal with.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

I would like a bigger, maybe just taller bottle, as 25 wash bottle would be finished in just over a month.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power? Both great.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

Yes, would recommend for convenience, size etc. I don't know what the price is, so couldn't comment on that.

MissEleanorLavish · 06/12/2012 11:53

Q1 Very pleased with it - would look out for it in future
Q2 Wish it was non bio - DS has v sensitive skin and it seems to be ok with this but would rather it was non-bio. Bigger bottle would be great.
Q3 Really like the smell & happy with the cleaning power!
Q4 yes would recommend :)

KvetnutsRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 06/12/2012 11:54

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

I like the bottle/pump design a lot. Not convinced by the scent at all though. and 25 washes? not in a hard water area! I tend to wait and do full loads, with plenty of gopping clothes (owing to toddler who likes mud), so 6 pumps, plus one for hard water - 7 in total, bottle holds 100 pumps, so it would do 14 washes for us. I did try a smaller load with just 4 pumps, but it did not come out clean.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

the smell!

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

fragrance: nasty, smelled a bit mouldy to me, I used fabric conditioner after the first wash, to mask the scent of the liquid.

cleaning power: OK, it got blood and chocolate stains out, got some mud and paint out, but not banana or bfed baby poo (that makes my life style sound a bit dubious, doesn't it, needing to wash out blood, chocolate, mud, paint, banana, and faeces).

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

probably not, as it smells nasty to me.
