Hi all,

Can I ask what the 'marking my place' is about? I am assuming that we all have an equal chance at the prize draw as long as we post on time here?

Review

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

I really liked it, I liked the compact bottle, the bendy pink tube idea, the very clear pump system guide, I was looking forward to giving it a go. I try to live an ethical life where possible and like trying new products that help with that, so this bottle was pleasing from first impressions. As a washing material it worked great, smells nice although in my house I have 4 very messy kids so I had to use an extra pump on the 4 average ones.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Not a change but a query - is the bottle with all its mechanisms environmentally friendly with the cap etc or is this less eco friendly than a bottle with just a lid?

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
All good, thank you very much. I held off the conditioner to give it a go smell wise and its pleasant and not overpowering.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes, unlike some other products I would recommend this - the eco friendly nature, the condensed liquid, space saving and overall ethos is enough for me to mention it to others and this is what I would say, as well as that it has worked for my washing.

Thanks for the opportunity to try it out.

Marking your place just means it will come up on your "threads I'm on" so you don't forget to post! Also used to mark where we have read up to on a thread for those of us who keep forgetting that bookmarks exist Grin.

My feedback, have been quite impressed by it and would consider purchasing it in future depending on price.

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

So compact! Really good space saver. impressed if I get 25 loads out of it.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

The pump was a bit awkward for me simply because of the location of my washer and its drawer. It would sometimes splutter a bit because I can't hold the bottle totally upright. Suppose I could put it straight in the drum or perhaps there could be a cap to decant into. I echo a poster above about it being refillable, which would make the cap easy to add.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

Fragrance is pleasant and not too overbearing. Have done about 5 loads so far and cleaning power has been as good as my normal non bio but not Eco product. Depending on price I think I'd buy it.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

Sure, Would say it cleans as well as a non Eco product and comes in a great space saving pump.

Hth, thanks for letting me test.

missmuddle · 05/12/2012 16:17

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Good compact size fits well in my cupboard, easy to use.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
probably a larger bottle and hopefully a refillable from a pouch

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

fragrance was lovely much better than my normal non bio the cleaning pewer seems to be better but i have not had a really horrid stain yet.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

does not often come up in conversation but yes for some one looking at a green alternative where price was not important.

elfycat · 05/12/2012 16:20

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Neat and compact bottle. Quite robust and should be good for refill packs.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Instructions in English. I could follow it (and read the instructions in the letter) but DH would forget and then not be able to follow it. It also seemed to leave the clothes a little under-conditioned and feeling almost boiled-washed even though it was a 40 degree I used (I tried it without conditioner but I do often use it).

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I like the scent. It is a little weak compared to brand leaders but is very comparable to the other eco products I have tried. Cleaning power wise I found it to be very effective. Much more so than 2 other eco products and certainly equal to the best of the non-biological brands I have used.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I would recommend this product as being an effective cleaner with eco-credentials. While the pack is reasonably expensive the refills make it a little less so. After testing it on darks/whites and colours at the 4 pump strength I have reduced to 3 pumps with the same cleaning result, making it even more cost effective.

Indith · 05/12/2012 16:20

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

I very much like it, a nice neat little bottle that is easy to use. I adore the squirting directly into the drawer, it just feels so easy, no waste, no measuring out powder and then tipping some back into the box, no slipping when pouring from a bottle and ending up with sticky liquid running down the sides.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

I think it feels very expensive for the small bottle. The refill is fairly well priced eg at Tesco Persil powder is £12 for 50 washes, Tesco own is £5.50 for 42 washes so around £13 for 85 washes is good, I was actually surprised by how good a price the refill is since I am used to seeing Method as a highly priced product. I think that people would be more willing to try it out with a lower priced bottle or perhaps with a bottled bundled with a refill.

I do wonder though if price is perception? After all Method bottle £5.99 (ethical superstore) for 25 washes, Persil (Tesco) £7.14 for 25 washes so actually Method comes off very well but I think the stumbling block is getting people to pay for such a small bottle, perhaps a bigger thing needs to be made of it being for 25 washes as at the moment I think my eyes would have passed over it on the shelves as not being such good value simply because it looks as though there are not many washes for your money.

I'm not sure about the fragrance but there are others available so maybe I would prefer one of those.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

See above for fragrance, it just smells a bit chemical like to me but at least it isn't strong. I can't abide clothes that smell like the inside of a Lush shop. The cleaning power seems good so far, clothes seem well washed and the table cloth has come out well too (at least I've not noticed any new stains on it!) AS I said further up the thread I would be interested to see how it works long term on sweaty arm pits and whites.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

Yes I think I would. So far it has washed well and I am happy with it. I had abandoned ecological laundry stuff due to it not working particularly well long term but if this continues to work well I could happily be converted back again as I do prefer to use low impact products as I do in the rest of the house.

Belles71 · 05/12/2012 16:34

Overall impression - neat packaging, easy to use, ecofriendly and no chemicals like other Method products I use. Like it.
Wouldn't change anything..
Love the fragrance - not too overpowering like a lot of leading brands.
Would definitely recommend.

I've used this product for a few days now on several family washes - at high temps, low temps, for coloured and white washes and I have to say I am extremely impressed. I was initially wary as often eco, non-bio products don't clean well at all, but this is amazing. I've used 5 squirts per wash as we are in London and a hard water area. All stains have come out and the washing has been really clean. Only question is on price - will it be very expensive as most Method products are? A little seems to go a long way so I think I would pay a bit more for this product. Overall - EXCELLENT. Thanks for including me.

ClaireStronge · 05/12/2012 16:52

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump? I use most of their other kitchen cleaning products so was equally impressed by the packaging which is much nicer than my normal brand (although this isnt a reason Id buy a product that sits on the washing machine. I was and am still skeptical about the amount Im using for the filthy bibs and tops (11 month old) so have gone for 5 squirts on a normal sized wash. Its done ok for a non bio (I assume its non bio)? but it cant shift the never ending orange food from white clothes without a large scoop of napisan or ecover bleach thrown in.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid? Are all 3 versions non bio (as such)? would help to know what they expect their liquid to remove and what it wont. Also what they recommend using to aid deeper cleaning.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power? I really dont like the smell of the tester bottle. My husband likes it as its more ozoney but I like a bit of warmth to a smell which it lacks so I will buy and try the other 2 in my next few shops now. I dont want synthetic flowers and I wouldn't buy fragranced liquids but this is just not a smell I would rave about.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?.

Good question, am I allowed to be ambivalent about it from a "does it get all the stains out" point of view however from a price and skin kind point of view I think its great. I see they do a pouch with 85 washes! I dont think Ive ever had a conversation with ANYONE about laundry liquids :)

JS06 · 05/12/2012 16:56

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

Easy to use, no powder to spill or little packets to open for detergent tablets. Fits easily in cupboard, small and easy to use also.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

No, I'm happy with size, smell, performance, packaging.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

Fragrance was easy on the nose, not overpowering or too feminine for a rugby Mum's washing. Cleaning power great, as good as I've experienced.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

Yes, I'd recommend it. It's easy to use, efficient and pleasant smelling

EnglishGirlApproximately · 05/12/2012 17:03

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump? I like it. It takes little room up in the cupboard, is easy to use and mess free
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid? I think the price is a little on the high side but a refill pack could solve that. I haven't seen it in my local Sainsburys or Asda as others have so I wonder how widely available it is.
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power? When I first took the washing out I thought it smelled very chemical. However, as the washing dried this went away and left a very faint fresh fragrance. I like the fact that the fragrance is light as I try to avoid heavily perfumed washing powder. No issues with the cleaning power. So far I have washed baby clothes (covered in food!), workwear and bedding and all have come out very clean.
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? I would recommend it, particuarly to friends whose houses have little space and those who are interested in eco products.

redgate · 05/12/2012 17:18
  1. I really like it, funky designed bottle that looks nice and doesn't take up too much room. Smells nice but not over the top.

  2. Can't really think of anything I would change, but would definitely want refills to be available

  3. Fragrance is lovely, nice and clean but not overpowering. Good cleaning power, even at low temperatures :)

  4. Yes would def recommend, but only if it's not too expensive.

NumptyDumty · 05/12/2012 17:33

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Loved the pump idea, it is genius, means I can put washing power in quickly with one hand! No more measuring caps!
The bottle looked good and fitted in with the method branding which I like.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
The price, it is currently retailing at £6, that is double what I currently pay and I'm afraid however much I love the pump it isn't worth that much more as my cheaper stuff cleans just as good

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Both brilliant. The smell is refreshing and stays on clothes when dry, cleaned everything well too.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I would recommend it, but not strongly enough to justify the price, I would say something along the lines of 'tried this new washing stuff, it comes in a pump bottle that is amazing to use as you can do it with one hand, smells nice too, look out for it'

Thank you for letting me test your product and I will keep an eye out and buy it came on promotion, but the cheaper alternatives are just as good I'm afraid.

Cyclebump · 05/12/2012 17:41

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

It's tiny! Seemed well made, ie the pump didn't look or feel flimsy. I was fairly happy with it.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

The smell. It smelled a bit like I'd done the washing with washing up liquid.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

Again, I'd change the smell. The cleaning power was ok in a 40 degree wash but wouldn't shift toddler grime at 30.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

I probably would, particularly to Eco conscious friends. In my experience it was better than Ecover for cleaning power and it's size is mega convenient.

steffibabes · 05/12/2012 18:24

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
It looked nice, attractive packaging, instructions all in French, no English at all which I though was odd. I liked the eco credentials.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid? I would have instructions in English, I would have a cup that you put in the drum instead of putting in the drawer. I didn't put it in the drawer I put it in a dispenser.
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power? The fragrance was very pleasant and fresh and the clothes seem clean.
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? I might do as lots of my friends are into environmental cocerns. If it was also reasonably priced I would definitely use it but I do not know how much it costs.

Cocoacloset · 05/12/2012 18:26

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Really liked it due to being so compact. Was surprised you needed to use so little, infact DH did first wash and used more because he thought it must be wrong.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Price point is fairly high.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Fragrance was fine, smelt clean but not overpowering. It cleaned really well.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes, I'd recommend it if it came up in conversation. I thought it was a really good product.

blueberryboybait · 05/12/2012 18:54

We found Method 25 for £4 at John LEwis online and they deliver to our local Waitrose for free, so I have ordered a few bottles, collected it from our local Waitrose and saved £2 per bottle on the Waitrose price! They also do a 1.1litre refill for £12.

ShatnersBassoon · 05/12/2012 19:10

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

I was really surprised at how small the bottle is.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

A thicker formulation to make it easier to control the squirting.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

The smell is pleasant, although undetectable once the laundry had been dried. It cleans fairly well, but didn't remove some stains like pasta sauce that my usual biological powder does.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

Probably not. It isn't as good at cleaning as the Aldi powder I usually use and it's too expensive.

TinTinsSexySister · 05/12/2012 19:13

Mine still hasn't arrived!

mrscrimbobash · 05/12/2012 19:13

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
It looked interesting and different to the usual boxes of powder etc. I was definitely intrigued. Love the cap.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
It is more expensive than what I would normally buy.
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Both were equivalent to my normal washing powder. I was pleased.
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I would definitely recommend it if budget wasn't an issue! The results were great and my clothes smell lovely.

Anastasia1979 · 05/12/2012 19:42

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump? It was so small that it couldn't wash so much! Great on use though.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid? Are the bottles recyclable or will refills be available?

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
The fragrance is quite gentle, but the cleaning power is great; my husband works long shifts in a hospital and it's sometimes hard to get his uniform smelling fresh and feeling clean, but this stuff was up to the challenge on just four pumps! Very impressed!!

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

Yes I would, it's less to carry home from the shops, and cart into and out of the car (useful with juggling small children). I usually use powder that clogs up the drawer of the washing machine and can leave a residue on clothes and this does neither. And as I said above, worked a treat on hospital scrubs, and my toddler's filthy bibs and dirty tea towels! It's a shame the bottle has to run out!

Beanypip · 05/12/2012 19:42

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I liked the small bottle and the pump action is easy and quick to use.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
maybe having a twist open and close setting would be good to stop it being squirted accidently (looks at the puddle on the kitchen floor) but other than that its great.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
the fragrance is quite strong but smells really nice and the cleaning power is good but just as good as others on the market.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
i wouldnt not recomend it but i dont think i would start a conversation about it. But if it did come up in conversation i would suggest giving it a try as it does smell really nice.

Review:

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I was surprised how small the bottle is for 25 washes. The size and shape is great for fitting into the cupboard with other bottles. It's a shame we had French text on our bottles but thankfully I had a translator around!

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
I would produce the bottles in a larger size also. I haven't been shopping for washing products for a while so I don't know how it compares in price to my usual brands.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I thought the washing smelt very nice. In winter all my washing has to dry on airers or the radiator so a fresh smell is very important. I liked the Method smell both when the washing came out of the machine and when it had dried.
Cleaning power was ok. I struggle to remove food stains from my babies clothes so a pre-wash soak was required but I have to do this with my current washing powder/liquid.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I would mention that I had tried it and it worked well. I wouldn't say that it was much better/worse than my current brand but it did the job well.
