Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

  • I like the size of the bottle & the overall presentation of the product. It is also great to have a pump dispenser to deliver the correct dosage and means there is no risk of spilling powder everywhere as I normally do.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
  • No, although a larger size would be good.
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
  • I like the fragrance and the cleaning power appears to be good on a normally soiled wash (we don't tend to have heavily soiled washing so have not tried it on tough stains)
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
  • Yes, if it came up, partly for the novelty of a pump dispenser but also for its eco credentials and cleaning power.
Lilyloo · 04/12/2012 19:10

I liked the size, the dispenser and the pump action, very good. I also liked the packing which we used at pre school for our winter display.
Maybe the price and the instructions in English obviously.
I liked the subtle fragrance, not too overpowering. It cleaned a towel load and d's football kit no problems.
Yes I would especially if I saw it on offer.

Alex71 · 04/12/2012 19:18

First impressions : Very neat little bottle which seems very sturdy and would be perfect for refilling

I would maybe change the price a little as it seems rather expensive.

The smell was ok ,nothing special really if anything rather synthetic, the cleaning power was fine did the job it it supposed to and clothes came out clean and tidy.

If the price was better I devenetly would recommend it to my friends but I will share my opinion with them anyway as I think overall it did very well .

ldt87 · 04/12/2012 19:39
  1. My overall impression of the product is good. I think it is well packaged and easy to use, it could do with English information on the bottle though! I like that there are refills available too.
  2. The only thing i would change is the price of the product as i consider it to be quite expensive.
  3. I thought the fragrance was really nice and i was impressed with the cleaning power. I have used it for a few loads of washing now and i am pleased with how clean my clothes have been coming out.
  4. I would recommend method laundry liquid to my friends and family and based on this product i will try other method items. The only barrier to using this all the time is the price, as i always use a branded laundry liquid, but will use whichever is on special offer.
Thanks for choosing me to take part!
missDiddles · 04/12/2012 19:43

Q1 I loved that it's not a huge clumsy container or box! My utility room is always covered in powdery sticky messes from washing powder/gel. Also that it's environmentally friendly.
Q2 Maybe a lower price? I've seen it in the supermarket and not bought due to cost
Q3 It cleaned up my toddler's pants & clothes very efficiently and they smelt fresh. No adverse reactions here!
Q4 I would recommend it. From a designers point of view it looks good, it's compact and practical. I would expect Method to make more of a fuss of its eco credentials though - it's not clear from first glance.

DeepPurple · 04/12/2012 19:44

I picked mine up from the post office today so I'll be back soon!

SweetMingePie · 04/12/2012 19:59

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I liked the small bottle and the pp action, less waste and you don't have to measure out into a silly cup/scoop

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Probably the smell. I like to have a little scent with my laundry. I'd also like to see a evil pack rather than another pup bottle as feel they an be used more tha once, hate too much packaging.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
The fragrance was a bit grim, and didn't stay on the clothes when they were washed. They didn't smell washed iykwim.
Cleaning power was ok. Haven't washed anything really stained or dirty but for every day washing it was ok, up there with the top market brands.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes, I would specifically mention it because of the pump action.

crunchbag · 04/12/2012 20:03

I have done a very dirty wash of muddy football kits and a normal wash

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Nice small bottle with a handy pump, easy to use. I like it that you can get refill pouches.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
The price, it is on the expensive side and at the moment I would only buy it when on special offer. Bigger size bottle, especially as the refill is for 85 washes.
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Although the fragrance isn't unpleasant I did find it a bit overpowering and lingering after drying. I was pleasantly surprised about the cleaning power, the small amount of liquid is cleaning muddy stains very well indeed and the clothes came out of the machine feeling quite soft.
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes I would recommend it, especially if I found it was on special offer.

meala · 04/12/2012 20:08

It has arrived, I like the bottle. Looks neat and the pump action is good. I'm a bit worried about how my Dc will get on with a bio wash as we always use non bio but will give it a shot on the next wash.

SunshinePanda · 04/12/2012 20:20

It works! Managed to get clean very dirty running kit and also general uniform wash etc. Happy with the smell, impressed with the bottle size. Would I buy it? Well that would depend on the price.

chrismissymoomoomee · 04/12/2012 20:28

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

Unique and easy to use. Loved the design of the product and loved that there is no chance of using too much as I do with powders. It also saved me having to buy seperate stain remover.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

Make the top more child friendly, it would be nice to be able to lock the top somehow. It would also be nice to have it in a bigger size.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

I didn't notice much of a fragrance tbh, which is far better than it being too overpowering. The cleaning power was great, just as good, if not better than my usual brand.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

I would recommend it, handy sized pack, good cleaning power and saves buying a seperate stain remover.

melliebobs · 04/12/2012 20:31

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
It's a good size, nice and compact. Was easy to get into (pump dispenser things are usually a nightmare to get into, spinning the tap thing round and round to no avail!) and it smelt nice. I am dubious to whether there are actually 25 washes in there and also how easy it will be to get the last few drops out when it's a pump rather than something you can pour.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
I wouldn't change anything about it. However it would be good if you could get a refil for it, rather than buying another pump.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
The smell was really pleasant. Sometimes washing stuff smells of nothing or over chemically which puts me off. But this was quite a soft smell. Cleaning power was good. Done 4 washes with it and one included my slippers that were once white. Ok they aren't spotless (i think it'd take something pretty industrial to get them as good as new) but they are as good as!

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
It's already come up in conversation with my mum and i did recommend them. However she was dubious as it didn't say whether it was 'non bio' however that's what we have to use on DH and he hasn't had any reaction to it which is a good sign that it's nice and gentle!

Iceaddict · 04/12/2012 20:42

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I like the size and ease of use.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
It would be good if you could lock the bottle again so there would be no chance of kids getting into it.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Smells nice not overpowering, and it cleans really well, only one item had stains that it wouldn't lift, I doubt other detergents would without stain remover.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes, I really like it, as it matches the cleaning power of my previous detergent and is much smaller and kinder, without an overpowering smell.

shaztwins1 · 04/12/2012 20:44

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

I thought it was a very small bottle nice and neat.Though i didn't know just how rusty my french was.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

It's actually quite good despite the instructions being in french Xmas Smile

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

It smells very nice & has cleane djust as well as my usual washing brand.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes i would mention it was very good, nice and small packaging, i'd be interested to now how much it retails at as i havent seen this product in any supermarkets yet

ISawSantaKissingThePortlyPinUp · 04/12/2012 20:51

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I really liked the mess free pump dispenser, it felt sturdy enough to reuse. It was easy to see exactly how much to use.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
The price would be the only thing that put me off tbh.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I liked the fragrance and it lasted even after drying, the cleaning power was comparable to the other brand names I've recently used. For tough stains like blood I did need to use an extra stain remover.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I would recommend it, especially if it were on offer.

Thank you mumsnet and Method for letting me try it.

Hopezibah · 04/12/2012 20:58

Thanks for picking me as one of your testers - really enjoyed it. Here's my feedback.
Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump? Great packaging, great design, love the eco-credentials, love how compact it is. So easy to use. Love the easy dosage of just squirting into wash mach drawer.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

I would make it more strongly fragranced. My washloads came out smelling damp and not fresh. I tend to do my washing at night and so the clothes get left in the washing machine for a few hours before unloading. With other detergents this is not a problem as they come out smelling fresh. With Method unfortunately I just got the damp smell so I would prefer a stronger / fresher fragrance.
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power? Frangrance needs to be stronger. Cleaning power was fine (actually impressive considering you only need a tiny amount).

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not?
not sure because I love the concept and packaging but the fragrance not being fresh enough might prevent me from recommending.

If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? as above. I would say it is a fab little bottle that does a lot considering how small it is and how well it works.

Nicnic12 · 04/12/2012 21:10

I received this last week and I must say I am very disapointed.

I have used it several times as I have a toddler who makes a lot of mess and sadly it has not removed any dirt from her clothing. In fact they just come out smelling lovely and nothing else so have to spend more time and money washing my clothes again. So sadly I cant recommend this product to anyone.

MerryMarigold · 04/12/2012 21:11

Nicnic12, what do you normally use?

AnnaLiza · 04/12/2012 21:11

I've tested this product on a dozen washes so here're my answers:

Q1. My first impression of the product was sceptical. I couldn't believe that it would be enough for 25 washes. I also thought that it didn't look or smell like laundry soap. I thought the bottle was a bit too white and not particularly attractive. I would never have noticed it in a supermarket as it looks much more like a stain removing product than laundry washing liquid. I thought the pump was a nice touch but doubted how practical it would be to use. So overall first impressions weren't good.
Q2. The pump is not baby-friendly and is a potential hazard because there's no locking mechanism. It only pumps if the bottle is fully upright so it's very fiddly to pump detergent in the washing machine drawer. The bottle itself could say if the liquid is bio or non bio and it could be made to look more attractive. The fragrance
is very bland and not particularly pleasant.
Q3 The fragrance is difficult to define. It doesn't smell floral, it doesn't smell clean, it's just odd. Having said that, it's not a bad fragrance and it's nicer than a lot of overscented laundry products out there. Still, it could be improved to make it smell fresher IMO.
The cleaning power was effective at removing stains but a bit less at removing odours at lower temperatures such as body sweat from PE shirts. However, this is common to most of the other laundry liquids, even the top brands.
Overall I think cleaning power is above average and odour removal power just average.
One thing I particularly liked about it was that after the second wash I stopped using fabric softener because the clothes were suitably soft. This is a great plus IMO.
Q4. I would recommend this product if someone was looking for an Eco laundry liquid because i think that it is overall a good product. As for me, I think I would only buy it if the fragrance was improved (or I might try the floral version of it).

ShiftyFades · 04/12/2012 21:26

Marking place, it arrived yesterday, plan to use tomorrow.

lankyesme · 04/12/2012 21:29

Q1) I loved the bottle, the pump hopefully means no waste, but haven't got to the bottom of it yet, maybe have to cut open to get the dregs out?? Great size.
Q2) Good cleaning power.
Q3) I really loved the "clean" smell, Cleaning was good, although was fairly standard dirt/sweat etc
Q4) I would recomend, but is just too expensive.

Beanypip · 04/12/2012 21:33

Haven't had chance to use it yet as only picked it up from the post office this morning and dd hasn't given me chance to put a load on. Will test it out on her food stained bibs tomorrow and report back but so far I'm impressed the bottles small and compact and smells nice but the packaging was a nightmare after the cat found it!

headfairy · 04/12/2012 21:39

Just done another big dark load with 6 pumps and a scoop of soda crystals. Smell is much fresher and loathes are beautifully clean.

ForFoxsGlacierMints · 04/12/2012 21:47

Q1 - I'm really impressed with the pump overall. It's small which is brilliant but really robust feeling and really easy to pump. It's super clean, no mess at all. Smells lovely and does the job, what's not to love?

Q2 Personally, wouldn't change anything. Would be good if it comes in a larger wash size, as it's so concentrated it would be easy done and a bonus.

Q3 I think it smells really fresh and em... Clean! Bibs came out as good as new so impressed with cleaning power too though I'm not sure they were too much of a test.

Q4 Definitely, I'm really impressed and would tell people how small, clean and faf-less it is.

lottytheladybird · 04/12/2012 22:05

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
A: I love the fact that it's so small and takes up considerably less room in my cupboard compared to a big box of powder. The bottle has a nice feel to it and the pump works well. It is quick and easy to use - quicker than measuring the correct amount of powder.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
A: It's hard to say if the bottle stands out enough, as it's all in French. I don't know if it's obvious that it's the equivalent of washing powder. Maybe it would be easy to mistake it for stain treatment or fabric conditioner, as they are normally in liquid form.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
A: I love the fragrance. The washing smells so fresh and lovely. The cleaning power seems great, including on stains. I used it neat on stains and it came out very clean, so I'm really impressed that I only have to use one product for treating stains and for putting in to the main wash.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
A: I would definitely recommend it in terms of it's cleaning power and how amazingly compact it is. It's also really easy and convenient to use. I don't know how much it is though, so if it comes out as being a lot dearer than washing powder, then maybe that's a downside.
