Overall impression: I love the small package and ease of use of the pump. It would be great if it was refillable too so that one only needed to buy the pump once.

What would I change? Would make it refillable.

Smell: did not notice any smell.

Cleaning power: ok on the mixed wash but the whites were underwhelming.

Would I recommend? Maybe as an alternative for coloured stuff but not whites.

maxybrown · 04/12/2012 22:09

I just got a horrid stain out of my sons jeans by squirting it directly on first - impressed as they had already been washed (with another product) and it didn't come out - agree it is a very clean smell

mamij · 04/12/2012 22:32

1. Overall impression
Like that it comes in a small, slim bottle that doesn't take up much space in the cupboard. It's got a lovely design, which is fun and modern. A pump is different to why I've used before.

Also, not sure if it's a coincidence, but my baby (who has sensitive skin and eczema) started getting a rash after I used Method to wash her clothes (have done three washes so far!).

2. What I would change
The instructions came in French! I managed to work out how much to use but not where to put it. I would prefer not to use the pump directly in the machine, as it isn't always very accurate. Would be nice to dispense it into a small lid to put into the drum.

3. Fragrance and cleaning power
To be honest, I wasn't keen on the fragrance and prefer my usual non-bio brand. It smells like something I'd use to clean the bathroom with - although i can't put my finger on it.

4. Would I recommend to a friend
I would if it was better priced! Or if it was on special offer. My usual non-bio brand is slightly cheaper, and smells nicer. It's good for the design though!

mrsfollowill · 04/12/2012 22:32

I have done an 'all white' load, dark load and bedding (light coloured)

First impressions? easy to use, compact bottle so good for storage.

What would I change? - price- expensive for 25 washes at £5.99 (their current website price)

Fragrance and cleaning power- disappointing imo- white school polos had gravy and paint on and stains are left behind. Smells faintly of chemicals to me. Dark wash came out fine as did bedding.

I would not recommend as I think although it did a reasonable job the fragrance and lack of stain removal defeats the purpose. It's also expensive for what it is.

I usually use Daz (special offer £4.00 38 washes at the moment) and hand on heart have never had to rewash the white load or use stain remover. Maybe if I had pretreated the stains it would have worked better but I don't usually have to bother doing this so have no intention of starting now Xmas Grin

Will use the bottle up on dark/mixed loads but not on whites again.

newtonupontheheath · 04/12/2012 22:36

Just pulled my dressing gown out of the clean pile of washing, put it on and it smells lovely. Inspired me to leave feedback now even though ive yet to test it on tougher stains...

Question 1

Love the small bottle, very neat. Easy to use with one hand (whilst carrying baby) No pesky tablet wrappers left lying around. Nice smell that you can smell on clothes even if you use 2 pumps rather than 3/4.

Question 2

The price! Seriously, can't fault it as yet but wouldn't pay £6 for it. Is there a refill

Question 3

Really nice clean fragrance. Not overpowering. Haven't used on anything v dirty as yet. Managed the stains on DD's babygrows and vests although they had been pre-soaked in napisan. Wouldn't apply direct to those stains due to the cost of the product but may get chance to before test is done if we get something particularly tough

Question 4

I would recommend to a friend although cost would be an issue, I am pleased with the results. Normally use own brand non-bio (1 tab, not 2) so there is very little scent. I am enjoying nice smelling clothes abd also the small bottle/easy dispenser.

Thanks for the sample, love method but can't justify it (because I use too much of it when I have it )

turnipvontrapp · 04/12/2012 22:41

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump? Like the packaging and it works well on the dirty clothes too!
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid? The price!
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power? Like the smell of it and it cleaned the clothes well, better than I expected.
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? Yes I would because I like the whole product, the packaging, the fragrance and it cleans well. However the price is a bit too high.

MotherSouperior · 04/12/2012 22:49

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
A: Quite like the design though it's tricky at first squirting it in to the powder drawer. Nice sturdy design but it's not childproof,so I can forsee it being enthusiastically squirted all over my kitchen floor by DS. I was unimpressed that an eco-friendly product came in such ridiculous packaging. Rooted around for ages to see if anything else was in there but no.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
A: I'd like it to be refillable and come in a bigger size, please. And have a childproof cap.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
A: The fragrance smells chemically going in to the drum/dispenser & quite off-putting but the clothes themselves smell fine. Cleaning power seems fine but not hugely different to my existing powder. Clothes seem slightly softer.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not?
A: Don't think it ever would 'come up in conversation'! Whether I'd buy it myself would depend mainly on price - I wouldn't pay £6 for it. I could see myself swapping over to it if it was cheaper. Thanks for the opportunity to try it.

DevaDiva · 04/12/2012 23:02

I've done three washes now. Coloured wash good, even got some paint marks out from my painting tshirt! Also did v.good job on jeans with cat poo on hem donttask! Whites wash great too. Love the smell and packaging too Grin

headfairy · 04/12/2012 23:14

I've just had a thought, I often put on a delayed cycle before I go to bed so that its ready for me when I get up in the morning. Normally I use a tablet or powder but with a liquid will it just congeal and be useless if I delay the cycle say 6 hours?

Mumpster · 04/12/2012 23:15

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I was really pleasantly surprised by Method Laundry Pump, I have to be honest I have tried ecologically sound solutions before and I have not been very impressed but this time I was really glad I took part in the test. I liked the pump and it's smooth action, I loved the effectiveness as a pre-wash and I loved the clean, fresh way my washing came out. I even think my washing dried a lot quicker as my clothes did not feel so damp.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
I can't think of anything that I would change to be honest. I suppose I would like to make sure the price is reasonable as that is the only thing that would put me off buying it.
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I loved the fragrance, a very fresh almost lemony fragrance. When I took the first wash out I actually couldn't resist putting it up to my face and sniffing it because it smelled so good!!! The cleaning power was fantastic! I had a school shirt my son had dropped greasy ribs from dinner down, and it had already been washed in my old powder and was still sporting a grease stain. I pretreated with Method and rewashed it and the stain came out!!! I was honestly shocked as I have pretty much binned anything with grease marks on it in the past!
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
YES!! I would absolutely recommend it, firstly the cleaning power is just amazing, the mess free container is good and the scent is just lovely. Even the action of the pump bottle is smooth which I did wonder about, I thought it would be annoying. And it does seem like my clothes dry quicker, not sure how but they do. I am not usually so enthusiastic about products but I really am enjoying using the Method laundry wash to the point I plan to wash all my new babygrows in it for when my daughter arrives in February, because I know not only will they be clean but they won't have any nasty chemicals on them that might irritate a newborn. So long as the price is right, I will be looking out for Method the next time I need washing powder, and am also looking at what other cleaning products they do as they really don't advertise enough!!

stealthsquiggle · 04/12/2012 23:27

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

Really good. I liked packaging, cleaning, fragrance...

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

I "missed" with the pump a couple of times (which is probably my incompetence) and nearly took the whole wrapper off when trying to take off the cover on the top part (again, incompetence, but could probably be idiot-proofed a bit more). It's also really tempting to put in a couple of extra squirts but I doubt that Method really want to change that.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

I liked the fragrance, and I am seriously fussy about washing stuff. I cannot stand (as in, I will rewash clean stuff to get rid of it Blush) the fragrance of Ariel, or any fabric conditioners at all, or pretty much anything except Persil - and now this. Cleaning power - it dealt with DS's mud-coated rugby kit and DD's once-white socks, and did at least as good a job as my normal washing stuff, so I can't complain.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

If it were to come up (unlikely) I would probably recommend it - I would certainly say that if the cost per wash were the same I would probably buy it in preference to "traditional" liquids and that it smells nice (important to me)

waps · 04/12/2012 23:44

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Nice and compact, the pump worked well and I could get the liquid into a wash ball easily. Instantly recognisable as Method. Would be great for packing on holiday.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
A clear, measuring line down the side so I can see how much is left. Being able to close the pump without pushing down and wasting some, so I can pack it for travelling.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

The fragrance is similar to my favourite Method hand wash and is quite strong when the washing is wet, but not breathtaking like some of the commercial brands. When dry the clothes keep a mild but fresh smell. I do not like the main laundry brands as I find the smell overpowering.

I have done 3 loads with it so far and it compares well with the Waitrose own liquid that I usually use. Combined with Ecover fabric softener that use I think the fabrics seem fresher and almost newer. I used 5 pumps as we have very hard water but I may try fewer, and also at 30degrees rather than 40. I must remember to count how many washes I get from this pump.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

I think I would recommend it, I have friends keen on environmentally friendly products and having checked it out on Ocado I see that I can buy a refill which makes it comparative price wise with what I am currently using. Method products have fantastic fragrances and I would love to smell others in this product, for example the cucumber.

Thanks for letting me try it.

Amma2010 · 05/12/2012 00:45

First of all thank you for giving me the opportunity to test Method Laundry Liquid.

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Was surprised when I saw the size of the bottle. Couldn't believe that such a compact bottle could do 25 washes. Love the compact design and the squirt thingy. Great design as it's easy to use and there's less wastage. What's more less storage space:)

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Price needs to come down as there are competeing brands priced less.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Simply love the fragrance. Felt the laundered clothes had a lovely, fresh fragrance in them which stayed on. Had one piece of clothing with yellowish stains left from some medicine on my little one's babygrow and the stains were removed without a trace. I also feel that the laundered clothes have a softer feel to the touch.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? If so what would you say about it?
If it came up in conversation I would recommend Method Laundry Liquid. I would mention the fragrance and the compact design of the product as well as the fact that it is plant based.
However, I would also add that it will most likely be pricier than some competing brands in the market.

SantasComingFace · 05/12/2012 07:10

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I like how small the packaging is, I don't have much space so it's ideal for me. Doesn't hit out at you that its is laundry liquid, which I guess if I saw it on the shelf I'd take a closer look because i'm nosey like that.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
I'd quite like to be able to buy a refil
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Tbh im not keen on the smell and I found that if you don't use fabric softener theres no smell at all after washing. Which is a shame. Cleaning power was great though even for grubby toddler clothes.
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? Looking at the price I'm afraid I wouldn't, I stock up on my usual brand when on offer, even when not it's slightly cheaper so even though it's good, it's just as good, yet more expensive so would be hard pushed to recommend it.

noo1985 · 05/12/2012 07:49

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I really like the compact design of the method laundry pump and like the idea of just being able to pump it straight into the drum without having to worry about a dosing ball. I have done a few washes with t of varying dirtiness and each has come out smelling lovely and clean sop overall a good impression has been made.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
I have never used method products before but i was surprised you could get 25 washes out of such a small bottle so a nice bigger helping with more washes would be nice as the small container with a high price may put people off buying the product.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I think my clothes came out smelling really nice and it cleaned very well.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes I would recommend it as its cleaning power was good but i do think that price may put people off.

Imflabulous · 05/12/2012 08:17

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump? I thought the packaging was really small and neat, and i was dubious it would do all the washes stated. I feel it has left a strange residue (like fabric conditioner) on the washing, but this is only my first wash with it so maybe it is a one off? It appears to have washed as my normal detergant dose but then i have not had anything overyly dirty to wash yet.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid? At the moment no, although maybe the price? I will need to see what it is like after subsequent washes.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power? I think the fragrance is nice, but not very strong (i like my washing to smell clean!). And so far the cleaning has been fine.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? Going by my experience thus far, no i would not reccomend Method Laundry liquid, purerly on the lack of strong smell and the residue although im open to see if this is not the case on the second wash.

I will update after further washes.

Flutterbutterby · 05/12/2012 08:21

Overall impression: I liked it. The bottle is an easy size and shape to handle. The pump works well.

Would I change anything? I'm not sure how much it would retail for. I would hazard a guess that it's more than I'm currently willing to pay. Are refills available?

Fragrance & cleaning power: the childrens' clothes all came out well, the tomato sauce came out which was pleasing. Initially I liked the smell but after a while I realised that it reminded me of Febreeze, ironically smelling manufactured rather than natural. My husband commented that he liked it though when I told him I'd used "the sample" when I washed our bed clothes.

Would I recommend it? Only if it came up in conversation and then with the caveat of price & Febreeze smell!

theladylovescupcakes · 05/12/2012 08:27
  1. I like the compact size, easier than lugging huge boxes/bottles home from the shops. Amazed that the bottle contains 25 washes!

  2. I would change the price. Bit pricy for me, tbh.

  3. fragrance was nice and fresh. Not cloying or artificial, just fresh, like it had been out on the line. Cleaning power is good, although I tend to pretreat stains with Vanish etc.

4). Yes, I would recommend it. I'm sure I use too much of my existing product, so the fact it's easy to measure and you use so little, is great.

newtonupontheheath · 05/12/2012 08:37

Have done a shop with ocado this morning and the refill (£14 for 85 washes) is out of stock. Gutted as Ive got a 15% off voucher

buggyRunner · 05/12/2012 08:49

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

I like the packaging- the small size and the pump delivery- however- it was very hard to open (think I had a dud one as I have used this before and it worked fine last time. Yet at 530 am when Im in a rush not being able to work the pump to open it did make me quite angry.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

Just ensure the pump is easier to twist open- yet I have never had this issue before

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

Good smell, good clean

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

yes- especially if they are into eco friendly things- however the cost may be an issue and also they dont stock in Aldi which would put a few of my friends off

TeamBacon · 05/12/2012 08:50

Wow, that's expensive.

SalVadorDahli · 05/12/2012 08:51

1. Overall impression
Good size - easy to handle and takes up next to no space on washing machine. I also like the design. Clean and unfussy.

2. What I would change
The price. Compared to other similar products, this seems a bit over priced. Whilst I'm normally happy to pay a bit more for Method products, I don't feel the price difference is necessarily worth it for something that you will buy every week.

3. Fragrance and cleaning power
I love the fragrance - smells "clean" without being overly perfumed. I think the cleaning power is good for a detergent. I would still use other stain treatments on stubborn spots though.

4. Would I recommend to a friend
If asked about laundry products specifically, I would mention that I like this. Would probably advise holding off for a special offer before trying for the first time so that they can decide for themselves without spending a fortune. It's nice, but not a wonder product. Saying that, I'd probably buy it myself again.

naturalbaby · 05/12/2012 09:10

Q1 very good impression, but I've been eyeing it up on the supermarket shelves for months! the pump is brilliant, keeps the dispenser drawer gunk free and easier than squeezing a cap of liquid into the drum when you're in a hurry. I also have so many big bulky bottles on top of the machine, so a small sturdy bottle has pride of place at the front!

Q2 make it refillable and maybe a bigger version. Am assuming the pump comes off easily to recycle the bottle.

Q3 I like that the fragrance isn't overpowering or noticeable. I don't need my clothes to smell of fragrance, I just need them to be clean. I haven't put really dirty whites/brights in to wash with it so things have come out as clean as they do with the other liquid I use.

Q4 yes, would recommend for eco credentials, small bottle and pump dispenser.

naturalbaby · 05/12/2012 09:15

just seen on the method MN page there is a refill available so will be buying that!

CarpeJugulum · 05/12/2012 09:28

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Small, neat, compact delivery system, easy to use. I like the mess free delivery into the drawer (once I'd worked out the angle).

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
The price is the only reason I'd hesitate to buy it; a bigger "better value" bottle would also be good - 25 washes for a family doesn't go very far.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Smells really fresh and clean, and the fragrance seems to last. It has dealt with the majority of my laundry stains, but I haven't tested it against a really tough stain yet.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes, I'd recommend it. I like the fact that it's more environmentally friendly than most things; but I would mention the price differential to normal washing powders/liquids.
