After a busy weekend's worth of washing I've definitely put the Method liquid to the test!

  1. The packaging is definitely compact and design is bright and a bit different from their competitors. Like the pump style. My mistake entirely but tried to put the pump back down and ended up wasting some liquid. It might be better if there was a way of switching the pump off (maybe there is and I haven't discovered it?) as will need to keep away from DD who is more than capable of pressing pumps.

2.Would only improve the pump as above. Product itself very good. Like other testers would be pleased if it was on offer or if refills are available to buy which would make it cheaper to continue to use.

3.Fragrance is good and cleaning power impressive for such a small amount of product. A very dirty cream teddy which had literally been dragged through the mud came out bright and clean. I also used some product neat on some particularly stained clothes and got good results. Like the multi-function of liquid as currently use another branded eco liquid with their stain remover for tougher stains.

  1. Yes I would recommend the product to others.
mummysmellsofsick · 02/12/2012 18:56

My first impression for a company with Eco credentials was that my sample arrived in a rather large cardboard box filled with polystyrene- hardly an Eco friendly option. Given that the bottle itself is sturdy plastic I couldn't see the need for this much packaging. I do like to think that companies that trade on their Eco credentials follow this through to all levels behind the scenes so the use of polystyrene here bothered me...

So now onto the product:

I found the fragrance fresh and clean and not too chemical smelling. I started with a 40 dark wash and it did better than my usual Ecover liquid at lifting smells. I won't go into why this is important to us but I was really pleased with the cleaning power on this wash. It doesn't just mask smells it really washes them away.

My next wash was my shower curtain which was starting to go orange with soap scum etc. It did a fantastic job here at 60 degrees and left the curtain as new.

Next my husband's white shirts all covered in cooking stains- tomato, turmeric etc... It made an extremely good job of them, all stains shifted at 60 degrees except a couple of stubborn old ones that prob need specialist products.

Lastly the nappy wash. This was absolutely great and left the nappies fresh and fragrant. I used only 2 pumps rather than 4 and washed on 60.

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

I like it and will buy it

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

I adore the smell of Ecover (my usual) and while the Method fragrance was good, it wasn't quite as nice

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

Fragrance fresh and clean smelling, cleaning power very impressive.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

Yes I would (and will) definitely recommend it. It is gentle on sensitive skins and effective on stains and smells. I like being able to measure out 4 pumps per wash, and that it doesn't take up much room in the cupboard. I will buy it again.

Here's my feedback:

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I have so far done two washes with this. I am very happy with it. It has washed my clothes well. I washed dd's clothes with it using 6 pumps as they get quite soiled with food etc and most stains washed out well, there were a few stains remaining that I probably should have pre-treated but nothing more that my usual washing powder.
I also like that the bottle is compact and so doesn't take up much room and also that I only have to put a few pumps into the drawer.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
I always buy non-bio and tend to buy the one that is on offer/the cheapest, so if anything I would say maybe reduce the price.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I though the smell was nice, and quite subtle. It cleaned my clothes well.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes I would recommend this product, I am happy that it is eco friendly and does not irritate my skin.

preety18 · 02/12/2012 19:41

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Like the bottle with the squirt which makes life easier as no need to measure the quantity needed. It's small and practical.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Yes by adding a closing options on the squirting device.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
It smells nice and fresh just right amount of fragrance.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes would recommend if it is on offer.

blueberryboybait · 02/12/2012 20:04

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump? It is great, small enough to tuck on a shelf and I get a little worktop back in the laundry. The pump makes it even too difficult for my overenthusiastic DH from adding far too much to the washing.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid? No, I really like the bottle a refill would be nice but I like the small bottle.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power? Smell is great not too strong and keeps fresh smell even after the clothes have been washed. It cleans amazingly got grape juice vomit out of white sheets at 50 degrees and school pasta sauce out of a polo shirt 3 days after it was spilt on! But the biggest bonus is it has not affected DD's skin at all, I washed a couple of her vests and a babygro in the first wash and she wore a vest today and no vest shaped rash (which is normal for some powders) Will see how she goes tonight in her babygro

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? DH has become the voice of method over the last few day, just mention washing/clothes to him and he lets them all know how brilliant it is. We will definitely buy more.

SoupDragon · 02/12/2012 20:08

mummysmellsofsick the packing wasn't polystyrene!

moogdroog · 02/12/2012 20:11

mummysmellsofsick it's not polystyrene. The bits are made from corn starch or something. You can compost them, dissolve them in water, or better still, give them to the dcs to craft with. Wet them very slightly to stick them together to make stuff! My cat on the other hand, rather enjoys eating them
I'm always very pleased when I get them in a package!

SantasBlotto · 02/12/2012 20:21

I thought they were polystyrene too. Dammit, if I'd have known I would have composted them, rather than put them in the bin.

Sparklingbrook · 02/12/2012 20:21

DS2 has been dissolving them in water Santas.

janx · 02/12/2012 20:24

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump? I liked the size and the pump was easy to use.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Make it available in larger sizes or refillable like ecover.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I quite like the smell - wasn't overpowering

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes I probably would recomend it .

Bigspring · 02/12/2012 20:24

Have done three loads now, not impressed!
The packaging is smart, except in French! I liked the idea of the squirt pump and it does mean cleaner more efficient use of product. Didn't have much of a scent and wasn't convinced that the liquid produced would clean the clothes
Have done some research online and method products are quite pricey so would say the price is something would change!
Scent- didn't notice there was one! I like my clothes to smell clean and fresh and I could only really smell wet clothes the first time so used fabric conditioner second time so that they would smell fresh!
It did clean the clothes but not as well as if I had used any other washing detergent!
I would not recommend method laundry detergent as apart from the pump action bottle there is nothing I like about it and can buy cheaper products which work better!

SantasBlotto · 02/12/2012 20:26

It's meeeeee, Sparkling, Pinot Xmas Smile

bluebump · 02/12/2012 20:28

Q1 I really liked the look of the packaging, liked the pump and it seemed to hold a lot of product in such a small package.

Q2 Only the price would put me off buying it, i'd stock up if I saw it on offer somewhere.

Q3 I did quite a big load on a short/quick wash and everything came up really clean so I'm quite happy with it. I only used 4 pumps too.

Q4 I'd happily recommend it, it smells nice and the packaging is good and more importantly it works!

I liked it enough to have a browse on the Method website and i'm interested in buying some of the other products if I see them in store now.

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

I was surprised how small the bottle is. I was suspicious that it might be 25 hand washes, or something, but no 300/12 = 25 4 pump washes. I'm using 5 pumps, though, since I have a 7kg washer and hard water.

The pump itself can sometimes be a bit eager. If I'm pumping into the detergent dispenser, it's easy to, erm, overshoot Blush. I was worried that it might be a bit tricky to use, since I have mobility and strength problems with my hands, but it pumps really smoothly with little effort.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

It seems OK. I might have missed it, since the packaging is in French, but it doesn't make it clear if the bottle is for colours or whites, though. I usually buy detergent for colours and only the odd bottle for whites.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power? The fragrance is lovely - not at all overpowering. It doesn't leave the laundry smelling too soapy, either. I've not tested anything really filthy with it, but I've not felt the need to wash anything again because it didn't come clean. DH managed to spill half a glass of wine on us both the other night (yes, really) and I chucked the clothes plus a few other things in an overnight wash and there's no stains on them.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

I would need to use it for longer to see how nice clothes stayed if I used it all the time, but I would recommend it for travelling, for definite.

headlesshorseman · 02/12/2012 21:02

I love method products anyway, especially in the kitchen, so my expectations of this product were quite high.

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
It is very compact, easy to store and looks fab. Love the pump action, much easier than cups and less mess. Although £6 for the original 25 wash packed seems a bit pricey, the refill is equal (cost per wash) to my normal brand.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
I think that although the pump is great, it could do with some kind of child-proof locking system.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I like the smell, has a nice subtle 'clean laundry' smell, I personally don't like overpowering fragrances. I've done 4 loads so far, including DHs work clothes and the DCs riding clothes, large loads in a had water area, and they all came out clean. It didn't managed to get the tea stains out the tea towels, but not much does.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I think I would recommend it, especially to my Sil. Her DCs and my own have very sensitive skin, and we only have 2 brands that they can safely use without reaction. I have washed the kids clothes and bedding and they had no reaction so far!

CreepyLittleBat · 02/12/2012 21:05

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

It was smaller than I expected - after digging it out of that huge box and sufficient packaging for a tea set! It looks quite subtle and pretty, not brash design like some household cleaning products.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

No, but I would have to know the price - it would have to compete with my usual washing tablets, especially as I only use half the recommended amount of those to save money! If it could be refilled fairly cheaply, that would be good.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

I like the smell, the laundry is making my kitchen smell really fresh as it dries! It seems to clean the clothes very well, although the toddler training pants still smell a bit like wee. (First load I used 4 squirts of liquid, second load 6 but no difference)

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

If anyone noticed it in my house, I would say I liked it, that it smelled nice, worked well and was less bulky than a box full of tablets. Most of the dull household-related conversations I have with my friends revolve around saving money though, so it would depend how much it sold for.

Haberdashery · 02/12/2012 21:14

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I like the small and convenient packaging. It's easy to use. I am pleased that it's light and easy to carry as I find carting washing powder home quite difficult if I need to do a big shop as I don't drive.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
I really dislike the smell. Mine is called something or other Air (the blue one) and I hate it. But it smells worse on the wet laundry than when it's dry and I can tolerate it once the washing is dry. To be fair, I would probably like the pink Peony one more as I like flowery smells and I was delighted to discover that there's an unscented one. I will definitely try that. I was really surprised to dislike the smell as one of the things I like best about the rest of your range is the lovely fragrances! Would you consider a citrussy smell or something else a bit less obvious than blue air and pink flowers?

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Fragrance covered above. Cleaning power absolutely fine. It worked well on our usual stuff including children's clothes. Nobody has been itchy or sneezed or had gritty eyes, which is nice as we are all a bit sensitive to washing powder and similar things. I haven't had cause to try it as a stain remover but definitely like the idea of doing that rather than buying a separate product so will be trying that out when I can.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
If it came up in conversation I would probably recommend it. I would mention the blue fragrance negatively, though!

MerryMarigold · 02/12/2012 21:41

I thought the 'blue fragrance' was very citrussy! And made a big change from most washing powders, more like adding essential oils to unscented products.

What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
The packaging looks cheap, I was surprised to find out it cost £6 a bottle. I did like the compact design though.
Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
I would make it smell nicer and make it more effective.
What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I found the fragrance weak and the cleaning power poor.
If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? No, I think it is pretty rubbish! I will use it up on lightly soiled loads, but I won't be buying any more.

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

It was OK. Nothing special.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

A nicer fragrance would have been good.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
No fragrance at all. Cleaning power was as good as any I have tried,

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

I quite like the pump action as it was already measured out for me. If it was on offer I would buy it.

nowwearefour · 02/12/2012 21:58

First wash complete! So far....

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump? It takes up far less space on my shelf and the pump works so well- i love its simplicity!

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid? Nothing although the instructions indicate 4 pumps which is a bit confusing so perhaps just the instructions? Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Love the smell. Very pleasant and clean. Got a wide variety of items clean. Brilliant!
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes!!!! I have done 7washes now from bedding to sports stuff. All clean and sooo easy! Environmentally friendly and it seems very effective!

Belmo · 02/12/2012 22:06

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Really like it. It looks nice and is really easy to use. And most importantly Dd's skin is fine with it (house full of sensitive eczema ridden people!)

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
No I don't think so. The price is the only issue for me, we are on a very very tight budget at the moment, so although I don't think the price is outrageous I'm not sure we can afford it. If it wasn't for that I'd definately switch to method.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Love the fragrance. Due to sensitive skin I usually use a v small amount of non bio and can't smell anything. This smells fresh but not overpowering.
Cleaning power also fab! I've done 2 normal loads and a nappy wash which was the big test - all nice and clean.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Definately. Love the smell, cleans well, good for sensitive skin and the environment - perfect, but a wee bit pricey!
