I often think that fir or pine scented stuff smells like toilet cleaner.

Sparklingbrook · 02/12/2012 14:01

That's v true Soup. Sometimes you get aftershaves with pine in and they are a bit toilet cleaner-esque.

InMySpareTime · 02/12/2012 14:36

It did a good job on a white wash, got the collar tide mark off school shirts!
Just tried it on black& white striped rugby kit (now that's a challenge!). It got the mud out of the top, and most of the mud out of the shorts, I've just spot cleaned the shorts with small squirts of method, and put it in for another wash. We'll see if that does the trick.
I usually soak the rugby kit overnight in oxy cleaner then wash it. If nothing else, the method saves me a night anyway.
I would like refills to be available, or the bottle to be tetrapak etc.
It smells nice enough, I don't mind if a bit gets on my hands, although it takes a lot of rinsing to get it off.

PoppyAmex · 02/12/2012 14:42

Yes, but it's frosted fir so that's surely completely different, no? Grin

RudolphTheRedNosedTapir · 02/12/2012 14:43

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Compact & user friendly.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
The price, I can't justify spending this much on just getting our clothes cleaned.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Fresh, not at all overpowering. I've tested it on a whites wash, a darks wash and it's come through with flying colours. I also washed my oily works overalls - they're spotless.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I've already told my friends that I'm testing this - would probably say that I really like it, but it's a tad too expensive (for me).

aftereight · 02/12/2012 15:19

Q1 my first impression of the bottle is that it looked small and neat, and the product looks contemporary and good quality

Q2 I would probably make the pump dispenser larger, say 40 washes (sounds like a lot, would make me think it would last a good month). The liquid itself looks a bit meh - maybe a touch of colour in it to make it look more substantial/pretty? Also, should the dose be adjusted for hard/soft water as advised on some other washing liquids?

Q3 The smell was ok, very neutral. I dislike anything overly perfumed, but when I opened the washing machine to remove the wet washing, it didn't smell particularly clean. The whiff of wet dog did spring to mind! When dried though, the clothes did smell perfectly nice. Of clothes though, not freshly washed ones.
The cleaning power seemed good as it completely removed a large red wine stain from a cushion cover.

Q4 Not sure I will actively recommend to friends or family in the same wayI would other Method products, but I will mention it to the family member who is a laundry scientist at a large company beginning with U!

ChunkyPickle · 02/12/2012 15:31

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

Small and light, was worried that the pump would be awkward to use, but it was absolutely fine (easier than the mess I make filling up caps with liquid/cups with powder too). I like that it wasn't bright blue - that always seems a bit odd to me when I'm adding it to my whites. I quite like the size - it's easy to hold while you're pumping - I'm not sure that if it had much more liquid it would be very easy to hold and pump one-handed.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

I can't think of anything right now, it seems pretty ideal really - the pump is my favourite bit.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

Fragrance is fine (I skipped softener so I could see what it smelled like). Clearly there so my laundry smells like laundry, but not too strong, not too odd. Cleaning power is good, and the washing isn't as crispy once it's dry as it is with some of the powders I've tried.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

Yes, I think I would - that it was so small, light, and easy to carry home, and that the pump was a really good idea because it stops you spilling liquid out the lid and makes it easy to measure.

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

I love the little bottle, it's great for saving space. It's been good so far even with the mucky kids clothes. I like the pump action bottle saves on pouring or filling up a cap.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

The smell I really didn't like it.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

Hated it, had to use extra comfort as the clothes still smelt dirty. Was great as cleaning, got the stains out.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

Most likely yes, as the cleaning side of it was fab :-)

cherriemayhem · 02/12/2012 15:50

After testing the product on several loads of washing, here are my answers:

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

A1: I loved the overall look, I couldn't believe how 25 washes could be contained within such a small sleek container. The pump action was brilliant.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

A2: The price did put me off a bit, but it is possible to search around and buy it cheaper online.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

A3: The fragrance was a "clean" smell. I like that as I'm not keen on strong or flowery fragrances on washing. I washed a dark load containing a pair of trousers that had paint on and my eldest son's school trousers and sweatshirt. Everything came out clean. I also did a white wash at 40 degrees. The majority of the whites came out fine, although I had put in a t-shirt belonging to my toddler that had baked bean juice down the front and it didn't come out perfect, but to be fair, without adding a stain remover to the wash it wouldn't have come out any cleaner with my usual washing powder.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

A4: I would definitely recommend it. I usually use powder, but the box takes up too much room in the cupboard and its messy to measure out. I much prefer the pump action bottle and the fact it was so concentrated and in small bottle was fantastic. I would tell a friend that it has just as much cleaning power as a standard liquid or powder, but the beauty is that its a small container and an easy to use pump action bottle.

IAmSheWhoMustBeObeyed · 02/12/2012 16:22

Q1- my first impressions were that the bottle was neat, attractive and different. I liked it. I like the pump, it makes dispensing the liquid cleaner and straightforward.

Q2- no not really. The price is prohibitive for me but I guess that is a reflection of the production costs.

Q3- I thought the fragrance was nice, slightly of the sea, fresh and not obtrusive or headache inducing. The cleaning power seems pretty much the same as my usual liquid which is to say that generally most things came out clean but some stains remained (hot chocolate I think)

Q4- if the qualities of different washing brands came up then I would say it was worth trying. If someone wanted a recommendation for a brand which was Eco friendly and worked then I would do so whole heartedly.

hk78 · 02/12/2012 16:34

Mine arrived at the end of the week and I've done 3 loads with it so far.

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

I like the neat little size and shape, and am impressed that it contains 25 washes.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

I would change the smell, as below.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

Personally I prefer a more traditional washing powder ish smell. Cleaning power: Yes it has done a thorough wash, although I did add some Vanish into the whites wash (habit)

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

Well it's not something I would really think of talking about, however if someone else brought the subject up then yes, I would recommend it for those who like alternative eco-friendly products.

noddyholder · 02/12/2012 16:38

1.It looks 'new' and modern although the thin texture made me think it wouldn't be man enough for the job (as it were)
2.Thicker maybe?
3.I love the smell it has a traditional laundry smell that is a bit retro and reminded me of the smell in our house as a child
4.I would recommend they try it but I am not sure it is that economical and I think most people are a bit set in their ways with laundry!

longlady16 · 02/12/2012 16:47

Just about to try this, first impressions are that I like the packaging. The compactness of design is great-doesn't take up a lot of room in the cupboard. Got the "fresh" scent and it does smell light and fresh. Worried if can clean as well as usual brand. Will report back

MousyMouse · 02/12/2012 17:11

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

I like the sleek small design of the bottle. practical and stacks well in the cupboard. very easy to use. more information would have been nice (eg. colour detergent available, refill packs)

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
maybe making it less foamy? the price seems alright and in line with other eco detergents if you look at the price-per-wash.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I love the fragance, very subtle and goes well with my favourite softener.
cleaning power is good, at least not worse than the detergent that I usually use. it got the towel that we use as a mud-rug in the hall nice and clean. the load of uniforms came out nice and clean.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
yes, would recommend as alternative, esp to other mums who are looking for less harsh detergents that actually work.

meala · 02/12/2012 17:17

Still not arrived here yet!

upinthehills · 02/12/2012 17:21

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Nice bottle but as it is very substantial, will feel bad about throwing it out when it is finished.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid? The smell - I really don't like it - it smells very chemically and I think it is one thing that would make me not buy it. I don't hate it, but I don't like it, and, for a premium product I think I would have to love it!
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power? As before I don't like it. Cleaning wise it seems comparable to normal liquid - not had any tough stains to try it on yet.
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? Not sure I would - have googled the price and it is at least double the price of what I currently buy (Aldi or Lidl). i know it is more eco, but is just doesn't smell like it is as, to me, it smells of chemicals. If it was gorgeous I might pay the extra - shallow I am!

somethingscary · 02/12/2012 17:52

Posting on my phone so can't cut & paste the questions.

I quite liked it - I like most Method products (except the silly washing up liquid in pump bottle). Nice smell, seems to do the job, but may be too expensive for every day use. Will probably save it for things I think regular powder may be too harsh on. Thanks for the opportunity to try it.

Elegantlywasted · 02/12/2012 17:57

Update on paint on school blouse, applied more directly and put in a 60c wash with towels, has definitely faded but not gone, think a stain devil may be needed, can't say that any other product will have done any better.
Towels smell lovely though!

JustFabulous · 02/12/2012 18:08

Thank you Empress.

There is no way I will get 25 washes out of it if I have to use 7 squirts per wash.

turkeyboots · 02/12/2012 18:10

Q1 - overall impression was good (although the French instructions were confusing!). Like that it doesn't drip over the cupboard!

Q2 - find the squirting action a bit of a pain. Over shot the washing machine drawer a few times. Also pricey compared to my usual bottle.

Q3 - liked the fragrance and felt cleaning power was good. While I struggled to squirt into washing machine, found squirting as a pre treatment was great. Got out dried on school dinner stains from white school shirts which is my test.

Q4 - I would recommend it if it ever cropped up. I liked it, but sadly beyond what I'd normally be willing to spend on for washing liquid.

FOURBOYSUNDER6 · 02/12/2012 18:15

Find a squirt 5 or 6 not 4..... But then again I do cram the washer full!!!! Wish they did a fabric softener to match

FOURBOYSUNDER6 · 02/12/2012 18:18

1 liked
2 no
3 liked
4 maybe but not as good as other gorgeous method products

IAmSheWhoMustBeObeyed · 02/12/2012 18:25

I have concluded that the smell though made out to be amazing is actually quite blah and I can get a nice smell, the same cleaning power and cheaper elsewhere.
Will be decanting ordinary liquid into the bottle though, it's great.

ValentineWiggins · 02/12/2012 18:28

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

Nice and easy - although I need to get past the "bigger is better" MINDSET!

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

Price!

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

Wet laundry didn't smell "clean" (ie didn't smell of perfume/cleaning powder) - dry smells fine.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

I'd probably say it was interesting to use but too expensive for everyday!

Kewcumber · 02/12/2012 18:33

First wash on now

1 - I liked the packaging
2 - doesn;t seem that foamy to me - I used 5 pumps for an average white load in a very ahrd water area. Maybe if its very foamy you're using too much?
