Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I was quite impressed that something so small could so 25 washes. I'm unlikely to be converted though as I currently buy aldi washing powder for a lot less. I get the impression Method is more of a premium brand.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
The smell.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I didn't like the smell. It wasn't overpowering just really odd. Cleaned the clothes well.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I suppose I would if it came up. I would say its compact and cleans clothes. I don't think I would be going out of my way to recommend it though.

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

I liked the small bottle - it fits on my small laundry shelves. i really like the pump action - it is very quick and easy to use with no extra packaging to throw away unlike tablet thingies.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

I've only done a few washes and it seems to have done the job so far. I haven't washed any clothes with major stains so will be interested to see how it copes when I do.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

Cleaning power seems good so far, but I haven't tried it with any serious stains. I like the fragrance because it is subtle and not over powering. I don't like big artificial cleaning smells!

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

Yes, in terms of its eco-credentials and cleaning power, but would need to know the price before I bought it again.

I generally use half the recommended dose with my usual cleaning products in order to save money - the clothes still get clean, so I might try using half the number of squirts of Method and see if it still gets things clean.

Bonkerz · 02/12/2012 22:23

Have now done 3 loads of washing with this liquid.

Can't remember the Qs and am on phone so can't copy paste etc but will give feedback.

Loved the small size. Wasn't certain it would be any good but was very impressed. Have used 5 squirts per wash as have a large machine and dirty kids!!!! I deliberately didn't use any conditioner and was pleasantly surprised by the smell! It smelt clean!!!!!!

I did wash DHs very stinky slippers but the foot smell was still there so have had to re wash with fabric conditioner but that was a massive challenge ConfusedConfusedConfusedConfused

I would defo recommend this product although I'm not sure on price point.

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I like the smell of my clothes after using it. After a week of several "nappy mishaps" it seemed to cope well and all of my daughter's clothes have come out nice and clean, even using just 4 squirts in a wash load.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Only the price! i loked on the website and even with the large refill pack it does seem expensive when comapred with other similar products.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
As I said, it was a bad week for our LOs clothes but all came out ncie and clean so think it worked well for that. I will admit I did add fabric softener as I often do so it was more out of habit. Together the clothes came out smelling lovely.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I'd certainly mention I'd tried it and found it to be good, but I think common availability and price would put a few people off.

VainViolet · 02/12/2012 22:28

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
compact, different, exciting, couldn't wait to try it out!

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
English instructions. Price needs to be lower,

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
loved the fragrance, 4 mucky kids, 1 with severe eczema so worried if he would be ok ut so far so good! clothes and bedding all cleaned up well.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes, I would recommend this product, the size is great, I like using liquid rather than powder. I do at least 2 loads of washing a day, 1 child has extremely sensitive skin and I have to be very careful about laundry products but impressed no bad reactions.Xmas Smile

Kewcumber · 02/12/2012 22:31

How much is it going to retail for?

MousyMouse · 02/12/2012 22:43

refill 14£ for 84 4pump washes = 17p per wash

nowwearefour · 02/12/2012 22:50

Apols for slight discrepancy in my post above re no of washes- I copied an pasted questions from a previous poster but put in my own answers and missed the very initial comment.

costumequeen · 02/12/2012 23:10

I really liked this- I found the small bottle and pump really convenient, and would certainly be a lot easier carrying it back from the shops. I used 4 pumps per wash, without fab con, and despite a week of d&v in our house (lovely) it really rose to the challenge and everything is clean and fresh, including the cloth nappies. I loved the scent and it's not too overpowering or artificial. I was sceptical about how well it would work with so little liquid being used, and I must admit I have often found eco brands to be less effective in the past - I was happy to be proved wrong here! I've not noticed method products before, but I will definitely keep an eye out, although I suspect they may be at the pricier end of the scale. Would happily reccomend the liquid to others though!

maybeyoushoulddrive · 02/12/2012 23:12

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump? Love the design of it, easy to use. Hope instructions will come in English for UK buyers!
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid? It's quite expensive compared to other brands, but will see how many washes I get out of one bottle...
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power? I didn't really like the 'neat' fragrance but the washing came out of the machine smelling nice. The clothes all looked clean, including tops with baked beans smeared all over.
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? I think I would. So far so good!

Thank you for letting me try it Method.

MsInterpret · 02/12/2012 23:13

Really like the smell, clothes have come out clean & soft. Like the ecologically friendliness. Thumbs up!

Will come back to do Qs properly when less t-I-r-e-d... Wink

FlappingToad · 02/12/2012 23:15

It is fantastic for removing reptile poo from silk ivy. One pump.

Am now soaking a pure wool jumper overnight, also 1 pump. Have added lavender oil to change the scent.

MousyMouse · 02/12/2012 23:19

flapping it's bio detetgent so it might eat your wool jumper and leave it with holes...

RunsWithScissors · 02/12/2012 23:32

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I like the size, very easy to hold in one hand while pumping directly onto stains. Looks nice too. Impressed that so many doses fit in such a small bottle.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Only issue I had was when trying to get a small amount out onto stains, the liquid came out quite strongly, so a bit difficult to control the amount. This left me with a LOT of suds in the first wash. Probably just need a bit more practice with it though.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Fragrance is nice.
VERY impressed with the stain removal. It took off poster paint that even with large amounts of stain remover/scrubbing don't usually shift. I squirted the liquid on, popped it in without any rubbing in and came out completely clean without any trace of paint.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes I would recommend it. The cleaning power is incredible. If the cost is a bit high, I think I would probably still purchase it for the more soiled/stained items.

Very impressed all round!

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 03/12/2012 00:07

Here are some first impressions, only used it for the first 2 washes today!

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump? I too loved the small size, it would be easier to fit in a cupboard than big bottles but without having to buy it more often. It also looked quite sweet and was easier to pick up and less likely to be dropped (especially when the bottles get dribbly and slippery). I also liked the squirting thing, much less messy than having to pour into a bottle lid or measuring thing, less risk of spillage and no sticky dribbles down the side of the bottle which I hate. You could probably do it one-handed if necessary too. Impressed at the small amount you have to put into the machine.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid? So far, only the price probably.
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power? Have to admit I didn't notice the fragrance much, it wasn't that strong which is fine by me especially when using it with fabric conditioner anyway. It seemed to clean pretty well, I had one very dirty item which I would normally have added some stain remover for, but decided not to, to test the Method on it. It didn't come out totally clean but I didn't really expect it to (it was really VERY dirty) but it did come out quite well considering how black it was before, I would say as good as with my normal detergent or possibly slightly better.
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? I would definitely say good things about it, especially about the convenience of the bottle and the eco benefits, but whether I would actually recommend buying it would depend on the price and the budget of the person I was talking to.

iloveshortshorts · 03/12/2012 00:12

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
It's small and compact, liked the look of it. The pump action is good but quite strong, when i first used it I managed to miss the drawer and squirt it on the floor! It's also great for my daughters sensitive skin, which has in the past been irritated by some washing detergents.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Yes, I would maybe give it a bit more fragrance as it isn't very noticeable, also to make it a stronger cleaning detergent. Though I do understand it may not be great for people with sensitive skin

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
The fragrance is barely noticeable, the clothes smelt clean, but i like clothes to smell fresh too. I didn't use fabric softener in the first wash but used it in the second. The first load of washing came out clean but not as bright or white compared to my usual detergent. The second load was dark coloured clothes and it was fine, so would probably use it on coloured clothes.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I would recommend Method Laundry Liquid on the basis that it is a good detergent but i would advise them to use it on dark coloured clothes and not whites.

Firawla · 03/12/2012 00:37

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

  • good, the main thing is i really like the small, compact size. more convenient to store

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

  • nothing so far

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

  • fragrance nice, not too strong. clothes came out clean so that seems fine. i did put 6 pumps in to make sure. will try it out with 4 pumps but i tend to put quite big load in so didnt want it to come out only half clean, so thought best be safe & do the 6

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

  • depends on price but if the price is good then yes cos the format is really handy
Devora · 03/12/2012 00:46

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I really liked it. I liked the compact size, the easy application, the scent and the cleaning power.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
The only thing is that I can't buy Method locally, despite living in a VERY naice part of SW London. This makes me very Xmas Sad

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
It smelled really nice, and I definitely noticed how well it cleaned two duvet covers coated in toddler vomit...

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I would recommend it, yes. I'd say that Method is a great range, and that this product is very compact and very easy to add to your wash, that it smells nice and has good cleaning power.

Cejay8 · 03/12/2012 08:31

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I like the different style pump, it's nice and easy to store and there are no caps to fill and get lost!

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
A refill version would be great and bigger sized bottles.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Fragrance is OK, nice and subtle. It cleans as well as my usual non bio products which actually surprised me.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

I would recommend it depending on the price as it cleans well and is really easy and convenient to use and store.

rhondajean · 03/12/2012 08:35

Mines hasn't arrived yet. Can someone please tell me how theirs was delivered?

Ups have tried to deliver something here twice, last time Friday. I got in from work and logged onto the website to change the delivery address to my work, where there is someone in, and although it said on the card I could do it, it wouldn't let me.

Apparently they are trying to deliver again today but there won't be anyone in later afternoon.

startwig1982 · 03/12/2012 08:38

Q1
I like the size and convenience of the bottle. As others have said, a refill would be a good idea even though the plastic is recyclable.
Q2
I did find it very runny. Clearly it's meant to be a liquid, but it started running out of the drawer before I had a chance to shut it! I'm sure this doesn't affect it's performance though.
Q3
It smelt pretty nice in the bottle. My washing isn't dry yet(no dryer and weather far too cold), so I'm not sure how the clothes will smell when dry. However, they didn't seem to smell of much at all when wet, so I'm hoping they'll smell fresh and clean when dry.
Q4
I would as long as it's not too pricy and leaves a fresh smell.

SuePurblyFeltYourPresents · 03/12/2012 09:29

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump? Good. Love the bottle size, like the eco friendliness. Like that it's not tested on animals. I couldn't see a 'madein' on my bottle - have heard rumours before that Method is made in the US and shipped, which would cancel out some of the eco-credentials. Not sure if that's the case?

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
The bottle is ace - pump works and great size. I agree a refill would be good.
I've not been to check out the price recently - I can usually only afford to stock up on Method when th offers are on.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

Cleaning power so far seems fine, I am trying a second attempt at a whites wash today. Scent is very light. I am torn on that - half of me likes the idea that it has fewer chemicals and I dry outside so am mindful that very strong scents are harmful to pollinating insects. But I do like a nice smell.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes. But it's expensive, I'd feel bad if they hated it Xmas Grin. Could you work out a scheme where we give a friend's email and they are sent a voucher for money off?

ingridmouse · 03/12/2012 09:47

1.Well, I must admit that the tiny bottle, and minuscule amount in the detergent drawer did not fill me with confidence, but I have been proven wrong before, and dagnammit, it has happened again. This stuff packs a formidable punch! Smile

2.I think it would be useful if it came in a larger bottle, as I am used to storing that volume of detergent, so there is room for it - but I suspect that the pricetag might then scare off potential buyers before they read the number of washloads that they would get for their pennies....

3.The scent is fresh, but not overpowering, so there's no danger of it "clashing" with any perfume that I am wearing - or making my DH complain that he smells like a boudoir. So far I have used it on white school shirts, and they have come up a treat - lovely and soft too, despite me avoiding fabric softener - although the aftermath of a nosebleed didn't entirely disappear Sad

4.Having said that, there are always going to be tricky stains and stuff, that even the evil overlords of laundry detergents (Ariel/Persil etc) find challenging - so I wouldn't say that Method's shortcomings have put me off buying it. I think the bottle/dispenser is funky and easy to use. I like that it is super-concentrated as I feel less guilty about its carbon-footprint, and it seems to work well at 30 degrees - which is more than can be said for a number of liquids. It gets a thumbs up from me!!

Cyclebump · 03/12/2012 09:55

I'm starting to use mine today (have killer cold so no housework on the weekend), am loving the dinkiness though. I currently have a massive box of powder in the kitchen and it takes up loads of space!

Jins · 03/12/2012 09:57

I've now done three washes with this. A challenging white wash, a light coloured wash and a denim etc wash

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
It ticked all the boxes for me. It's compact, strong, not too high so it fits on a shelf in my cupboard and it was easy to get into and get it working. I like the way that it can be used for hand washing and pretreating as well although I haven't tried it. I think this is going to be perfect for our longer caravan holidays as well as it's so light and compact.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
The fragrance was a bit bland. I'd like a few alternatives that left a stronger fragrance. Otherwise I'd leave it exactly as it is.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
The fragrance was OK but not necessarily one I'd choose. There was very little fragrance left once the clothes were dry but they did smell clean. There's a good reason for that - they were clean, very clean. I don't often rave about products but OMG this does what it says it will do. I had a fantastic range of stains to test it on including ink, mud, blood and the best one was probably the shirt my DH chose to wear to clean out the chicken shed. 4 pumps and it was gone. Seriously impressed. I'd normally be pretreating everything that went in the drum on this wash and there was absolutely no need to. If I was very picky there's a hint of ink left on DS2s school shirt but not enough to rewash it.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
It will be coming up in conversation :) I'm really impressed with this product. I've already recommended it to MIL who struggles with heavy items due to a disability. I will be emphasising its effectiveness rather than its environmental credentials as most of my contacts have been seriously underwhelmed by other eco friendly products (that's you Ecover!).

Thank you very much for letting me test this. I'm absolutely converted! Even the price hasn't put me off as I see it on offer fairly frequently. I do agree that refill pasks should be more readily available - don't think I've ever seen one.
