We've been asked by Hasbro to find 20 MNers to try out their top 10 bestselling toys and games with their family (2 families per toy). We're looking for folks who are not only willing to try the toy but who are also happy to record a short video review with their child(ren) playing with the toy or game and to add feedback about it to a thread on Mumsnet. There are 10 toys/games to choose from:

Playskool Elefun Busy Ball Popper (minimum age 12 months) RRP £29.99

Sesame Street Let's Rock Elmo (Not in the shops till the 19th September, so this is a chance to get it first!) RRP £69.99

Littlest Pet Shop Tree house Playset RRP £44.99

FurReal Friends Cookie My Playful Pup RRP £74.99

Transformers 3 Ultimate Optimus Prime RRP £79.99

Star Wars Ultimate Force Lightsaber RRP £39.99

Nerf Vortex Nitron (Not in shops till 10th September, so this is a chance to get it first!) RRP £44.99

Bop It XT RRP £26.99

Simon Flash RRP £26.99

Monopoly Electronic Banking RRP £27.99

You need to be willing to video your child playing with the toy. These videos will be used on Hasbro websites and possibly on some retailer websites (e.g. Argos). As a thank you for giving video feedback you will get to keep the video camera (Vivitar DVR 610) and 4GB memory card (RRP £50) that Hasbro will supply you with. If selected, you will be advised about filming requirements and how to upload the footage to Hasbro. All testers will also be required to give written feedback on Mumsnet on a thread.

The toys will be sent out w/c 15th August and you'd need to submit your video by Wednesday 31st August. We'd like to gather your written feedback on a thread on Mumsnet shortly after (w/c 5th September).

If selected you will be sent the toy which will be yours to keep. If you aren't selected please do look out for the feedback thread as we'll be opening this up to all MNers to add their own reviews of any Hasbro toy or game their child is currently playing with. Everyone who does so will be entered into a draw where one winner will receive a £250 high street voucher.

To sign up please click here.

Many thanks

thank you Grin

Tried uploading our video last night. The one of DS sat chatting away is fine, but the one when he's parading about trying to chop in half everything that crosses his path has come out really jerkily, out of focus, and kind of like hundreds of stills rather than a smooth video. The sound is fine. Any advice or do we just go for it again? If so, I reckon I'l be using my iphone cam too Confused

wobblyweeble82 · 23/08/2011 07:56

Uploads onto the laptop, not the website btw.

Marne · 23/08/2011 08:19

Wobbly- i used my own camera to video, couldn't get on with the video camera, iphone will be fine.

I have uploaded my video's onto the site but can't seem to check if it has worked (when i click on the video link nothing plays), i hope it has worked as it took me hours to upload.

LynetteScavo · 23/08/2011 08:23

Hmm...I have the footage on my computer, but not sure if it's enough, so am hesitating about sending it off.

How much talking are your DCs doing? Mine is mostly footage of the DC playing, with a couple of minutes talking, so not sure if that's enough once it's edited.

Shall I film some more...they will be wearing different clothes...does that matter?

NewGirlHelenMumsnet · 23/08/2011 09:37

Lynette - don't worry about that - we're not expecting you to do all of your filming on one day. If you think you can do some more then please do!

wobbly - if you'd rather use an iphone for filming then please do, as long as you're confident you can still upload the footage to the website.

Marne - I'll ask Hasbro to check that they can see your footage on the website.

Thanks everyone - sounds like you're really getting stuck in!

Hasbro has confirmed that they've received videos from marne, oxocube and Pipkin35 so far - thank you!

Thank you xx

I took a few video's of DD1, first was 5 minutes of her playing with the tree house (just doing her own thing) and a few short videos of her explaining how each part works and her favorite bits. Dd1 does a lot of talking (never shuts up as she has Aspergers), just hope she didn't talk too much Grin.

hi Helen, I've tried to upload 2 videos, one is quite long, about 25mins, and the other is 5mins! but I'm not sure its worked, I've tried twice now. Could you please check that hasbro have received it?

NewGirlHelenMumsnet · 24/08/2011 09:24

Will do llynnn

OP posts:
NewGirlHelenMumsnet · 24/08/2011 09:47

Sorry llynnn, no sign of your videos on the website. Please can you try uploading the shorter one again first and let me know when you've done it?

OP posts:
pipkin35 · 24/08/2011 10:32

Newgirlhelen - I've uploaded our video. But, please could you check with Hasbro that it's 'OK'? As in, the sound was had gone all wonky - totally out of sync - the camera is well dodgy!
And it's only about 5 mins. Do they want more footage? We could try and get/do some more if they'd like?
They said something about 30 mins but that seems an impossibility really considering DD's age etc...

I so wish I could have uploaded the first video I took - two of them fighting and DS screaming 'I hate Elmo!' - that surely would have netted me £100! Grin

NewGirlHelenMumsnet · 24/08/2011 10:36

Correction llynnn - Hasbro does have your 2 vids but one cuts out halfway through - please can you try uploading it again? Assume it is the longer one.

I'll ask them to check the sound Pipkin35 and will let you know

Ilikepinkwine · 24/08/2011 10:55

How many videos should I upload? They vary from 10 seconds to about 5 mintues. I'm quite happy to put them all on so they can edit/merge them for their own use.

NewGirlHelenMumsnet · 24/08/2011 11:07

Yes, I would just put everything you've got up and let Hasbro choose/edit Ilikepinkwine

NewGirlHelenMumsnet · 24/08/2011 12:04

Pipkin35 - yes, unfortunately the sound is out of sync with the video - please can you have another go? You can use a different video camera/iPhone etc if you'd rather.

OP posts:
llynnnn · 24/08/2011 12:06

I've tried again Helen, it says it has been successful so fingers crossed!

pipkin35 · 24/08/2011 12:12

Newgirlhelen - Thanks for looking into this for me. I will try again, but to me that seems to be the cameras problem and not mine....grrr....and it took ages too!
Um, I don't have any other technology to be able to do this.

Not sure what they'd/you advise?

Should I send them my camera back...or I can just try and have another go to see? Problem is I have very limited access to the net/web.
I will try some more filming today to be able to upload tomorrow.

NewGirlHelenMumsnet · 24/08/2011 12:21

pipkin - pls can you give it another go with the camera and uploading? If it doesn't work again then we'll come up with a plan B. Sorry, hope that's ok.

llynnnn · 24/08/2011 16:56

Hiya again! The big file still won't upload properly (i've been trying all day!) So I've tried to cut the file in half using windows live movie maker and it looks like its uploaded but is this ok with hasbro? If not is there any other way I can get the file to them? Sorry to be a nuisance! Blush

NewGirlHelenMumsnet · 24/08/2011 17:01

llynnnn - I think that will be fine - they're going to edit the videos anyway so shouldn't be a problem. Thank you!

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 24/08/2011 21:09

I'm currently trying to upload the files to the site. It has a remaining time of 4 hours. I think I broke it.

Marne · 24/08/2011 21:12

Mine took 3 hours Sad, i though it was because my PC is very old.

pipkin35 · 25/08/2011 09:37

Newgirlhelen - I have just uploaded 2 short ones to the Hasbro site. When I watched them, the first one with DS looks fine, the other one with DD - the sound yet again seems all wobbly and jerky?!
But, the first one is alright.
Could you please check when you have time so I can get the 'OK' from Hasbro? (I'm loathe to do it again! I have no iphone or anyhting so am having to come into work early to sneakily upload from work! And also, my DCs are so 'over' Elmo now...in the first nice vid, it ends with DS going "I don't want to play with Elmo anymore!" - so am really hoping we're done!

NewGirlHelenMumsnet · 25/08/2011 11:08

pipkin - just checked with Hasbro and the sound on your second vid is still out of sync but it's ok - they think they should be able to fix it in the edit and they have enough footage from you now - thank you for persevering, you may stand down now!
