We've been asked by Hasbro to find 20 MNers to try out their top 10 bestselling toys and games with their family (2 families per toy). We're looking for folks who are not only willing to try the toy but who are also happy to record a short video review with their child(ren) playing with the toy or game and to add feedback about it to a thread on Mumsnet. There are 10 toys/games to choose from:

Playskool Elefun Busy Ball Popper (minimum age 12 months) RRP £29.99

Sesame Street Let's Rock Elmo (Not in the shops till the 19th September, so this is a chance to get it first!) RRP £69.99

Littlest Pet Shop Tree house Playset RRP £44.99

FurReal Friends Cookie My Playful Pup RRP £74.99

Transformers 3 Ultimate Optimus Prime RRP £79.99

Star Wars Ultimate Force Lightsaber RRP £39.99

Nerf Vortex Nitron (Not in shops till 10th September, so this is a chance to get it first!) RRP £44.99

Bop It XT RRP £26.99

Simon Flash RRP £26.99

Monopoly Electronic Banking RRP £27.99

You need to be willing to video your child playing with the toy. These videos will be used on Hasbro websites and possibly on some retailer websites (e.g. Argos). As a thank you for giving video feedback you will get to keep the video camera (Vivitar DVR 610) and 4GB memory card (RRP £50) that Hasbro will supply you with. If selected, you will be advised about filming requirements and how to upload the footage to Hasbro. All testers will also be required to give written feedback on Mumsnet on a thread.

The toys will be sent out w/c 15th August and you'd need to submit your video by Wednesday 31st August. We'd like to gather your written feedback on a thread on Mumsnet shortly after (w/c 5th September).

If selected you will be sent the toy which will be yours to keep. If you aren't selected please do look out for the feedback thread as we'll be opening this up to all MNers to add their own reviews of any Hasbro toy or game their child is currently playing with. Everyone who does so will be entered into a draw where one winner will receive a £250 high street voucher.

To sign up please click here.

Many thanks
MNHQ

Mines here too, had to run down in my dressing gown Grin, dd's are playing with the tree house (our cat is chasing the moving chipmonk and dd is shouting at it), i'm trying to work out the video camera (picture seems really dark, must be doing something wrong?), i must bath the dd's and make them look pretty before i film them Smile.

Thank you MN and Hasbro, the tree house is a hit (so far).

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 18/08/2011 09:32

Optimus Prime has just arrived. I am an evil mother and am making the DC have a shower before they open it Grin

Marne · 18/08/2011 09:35

That was my plan Chicken but the excitement got the better of me Grin.

Marne · 18/08/2011 10:35

I cant get a clear picture on the camera Sad, its only 1.3 mega pixels so doesn't really pick up any detail of the toy and the picture seems really dark (good job i'm not reviewing the camera), i dont think i'm going to be able to get a clear video on it, do you think i can use dh's iphone to video instead??

LynetteScavo · 18/08/2011 10:51

We have 2 light sabers! Smile

I told the DC they couldn't open them until I've figured out how to use the camera. It may be a while. (I agree, good job we aren't reviewing the camera, lol!)

NewGirlHelenMumsnet · 18/08/2011 11:05

Marne - have sent your query about the camera to Hasbro - will get back to you when I have an answer

Thank you, i may just be me being blonde and not working it properly, i'm happy to use a I-phone to film if it makes the video clearer.

NewGirlHelenMumsnet · 18/08/2011 11:16

Here's what Mr Hasbro says about the cameras:

"I had a play with one of the cameras yesterday - the screen was a little dark but when i put the video on the computer is was good HD quality. The quality of the video on the screen does not resemble the actual video quality. The reason for this is to extend the battery life of the product.

If they want to use iphones, they are of high enough quality"

So feel free to use an iphone to video as long as you're confident you'll be able to upload the video onto the website.

Thank you, i will give it a go and see how it looks when i upload the video Grin.

Marne · 18/08/2011 17:13

Managed to get some good video's of dd playing with the tree house (trying to upload them now which seems to take forever on my old laptop), dd1 loved being filmed. Now keeping our fingers crrossed for the £100 prize for the best video (but i'm sure all the videos will be great). Cant wait to review the tree house, dd2 has been playing with it all day Grin.

cather · 18/08/2011 19:12

The nerf gun arrived this morning at 7.15 and I had one excited son! He took it to his cousins today whilst I was at work and they've had a great day playing with it.

lia66 · 18/08/2011 21:55

cather don't suppose you live near us do you?

Ds was sooooo excited when the parcel came, It was a shame the camcorder was in same box as opeing it would have made good film.

Agree with camcorder quality but with the nerf blaster (not to refer to it as a gun) kids played outside anyway. Luckily we have other nerf products so one child got a proper doing had the smaller blaster

Kids love it, problem is, as our toy isn't in shops yet, we can't get replacement discs and we are down to 13 already from 20 as playing with it outside, some have gone missing.

Dc's love it, :)

Thank yo MN and Hasbro :) :)

Marne · 18/08/2011 22:21

Luckily we had some littlest pet shop figures as the tree house only came with one and you need at least 2 to show how the wheel and lift works.

Still uploading the video of dd1

llynnnn · 18/08/2011 23:07

Marne, we also have the treehouse, its lovely :) both dds love it. You are very organised, I haven't done any filming yet at all, that's tomorrows mission!
Wonder if we'll get to see the other videos? Suppose we will on their website :)

lia66 · 19/08/2011 08:16

MNHQ can you try and find out if we can get hold of more discs for the nerf please?

thank you

NewGirlHelenMumsnet · 19/08/2011 09:39

lia66 - Hasbro are going to send you some replacements.

cather - do you need any replacements?

oh thank you very much, we promise to be more careful. It's great fun though, It was just children for the video though wasn't it? Wink

LynetteScavo · 19/08/2011 21:20

I've only videoed the DC, with me occasionally screaming prompting them in the background. Was I supposed to interview them? My footage all seems pathetically amateur. I'm blaming that on the camera. Wink

It's taught me a lot about my parenting style. Blush

It's been hard to know how much close up footage to do.....with close ups of the DC, I can't get the toy in. I'm presuming Hasbro will do the editing. If they view what I send them as a rough diamond, all will be fine!

Marne · 20/08/2011 08:48

I didn't interview dd, just let her play (she talks a lot out about how things work and what her favorite bits are without being prompted, can talk for england), we did a few takes of her doing different things with the tree house, it was hard to get the toy in at times as dd1 kept getting in the way Grin. I'm sure Hasbro will edit thems, just hope they dont edit our dc's voices Smile.

Ilikepinkwine · 20/08/2011 10:25

So far my footage is of DD sleeping with her puppy. Not sure that will be worth £100 though it is cute. :)

lia66 · 20/08/2011 10:53

My ds did some and gave a running commentary of which action he was using, etc. Have also done loads of him and his brother playing together just as they are. I think they're looking for natural and they will edit.

MrsDmitriTippensKrushnic · 20/08/2011 11:51

I haven't filmed the DCs yet as they've been playing in their pants and I don't think Hasbro want that on their website - I'm considering it good rehearsal though Grin

Going to scrub them and give them haircuts and maybe decorate the living room before I dare film them.

NewGirlHelenMumsnet · 22/08/2011 09:45

Please feel free to film how and when you like but Hasbro would also like you/your child(ren) to answer the questions they sent you with the filming tips on camera if you can please.
