We have another exciting product test for you - we are looking for 40 Mumsnetters who don't already have a Wii at home but would like to take part in "My First Wii Challenge" with Nintendo.

Nintendo say they "are keen to offer Wiis to 40 MN families to encourage them to spend fun time together as a family as well as give them the opportunity to test out some great games". If you already have a Wii, please look out for the feedback thread for this project as Nintendo would like to hear your views too (in exchange for a prize draw Grin).

If you are selected for the test you'll be sent a Wii console, handsets and nunchucks for all the family plus the following games:

uDraw GameTablet with uDraw Studio
Mario Kart
Kirby's Epic Yarn, and
Just Dance Jnrs

We'd then like you to take part in 4 weekly challenges with the Wii. This will involve playing with one game per week and adding your feedback to a thread on Mumsnet.

The challenge will start week commencing 4 July and last for 4 weeks - so please only apply if you are able to add feedback every week in July.

Ideally we're looking for MNers in the UK with at least 2 children.

After the challenge is completed and you have added at least 4 lots of feedback you will be able to keep the console and games for your family to enjoy.

In addition, we will need 10 of the families selected to film themselves and their family playing with the Wii. These videos will be used on the Nintendo pages on Mumsnet in the autumn and possibly elsewhere (they will be hosted on YouTube). If you are willing to undertake the video element please indicate this on the form link below. You will be supplied with a FlipCam (which will need to be returned). You will be briefed on filming requirements but it shouldn't be too onerous.

To sign up please add your details here

Good luck and many thanks

MNHQ

I remember playing Pogo and Hungry Horrace on a ZX Spectrum 85!

Neverlandpirate · 24/06/2011 09:33

Did anyone else have the handheld Donkey Kong game in the eighties?

Hard to imagine that in the eighties you could only have one game on a console, compare that with the likes of the iPad/iPod which I have now were the number of games is only limited by the size of the memory!

Last count my DD has 30 games of her own on my iPad, and I probably have the same number too..... But I did love my old Donkey-Kong! Smile

fivegomadindorset · 24/06/2011 10:02

I had a hand held Donket Kong, it was wonderful, I still have it somewhere, will get some batteries for it.

5inthebed · 24/06/2011 10:04

I had one of those, loved it so much and it met a miserable death at the bottom of a swimming pool

Keep checking email, none yet.

CharlotteBronteSaurus · 24/06/2011 10:06

there was an exhibition at Manchester science museum the other week, when you could have a go on all the old games - pong, atari, donkey kong, tetris on ye olde gameboy. it was fantastic, although dd1 hardly got a look-in due to all the nostalgic dads.

SeenButNotHeard · 24/06/2011 11:19

I was desperate for a Donkey Kong - I remember eventually getting a second hand Pacman Grin
At uni I was addicted to Tetris

IShallWearMidnight · 24/06/2011 11:48

don't know if it's still there, but Bletchley Park had a fantastic exhibition of old computers from the original room sized ones, taking in the ZX80 and ZX81 which were my first computers - anyone else remember sittign up really late to record computer games onto tape to use?
The DDs refuse to believe how primitive it used to be Grin.

PippiLongBottom · 24/06/2011 11:54

I remember the ones with tapes. We had 'Hopper'. Anyone else remember that? We had a hand held donkey kong and a walkman. Both bought in Spain.

DebiTheScot · 24/06/2011 12:13

Please MN tell the selected people soon. I should be doing better things with my time than hitting refresh on this thread all day to see if anyone has heard anything Grin

SeenButNotHeard · 24/06/2011 12:15

I can't remember if Pogo was the same as Jumping Jack or some such, but I can still remember the rhyme...
The Ballard of Jumping Jack
A daring explorer named Jack
Once found a peculiar track
There were dangers gallore
Even holes in the floor
That made him fall flat on his back
Quite soon he got used to the place
He could jump to escape from the chase

That's where my memory fails, but we are talking almost 30 years ago, so don't feel too bad Grin

Blatherskite · 24/06/2011 12:59

We used to have a tape machine and a BBC Electron! Bletchley Park is quite close to me so maybe I'll go over and have a look at all the old machines.

All we've got at the moment is the PC and a DS. I'd love an iPad but DH said no to that too Sad

GypsyMoth · 24/06/2011 13:02

Do you need some choc's or cakes over the weekend to help keep you focused? Wink

Blatherskite · 24/06/2011 13:32

I'm currently making a Hummingbird Chocolate and Hazelnut cake (with Nutella in) for my sisters birthday, it could be redirected if that would help you decide Ann Wink

GypsyMoth · 24/06/2011 13:34

But Nutella Ann! - it has Nutella hidden between the lovely moist chocolate cake and the yummy chocolate-y frosting! Mmmmmm

Grin
PippiLongBottom · 24/06/2011 15:04

Ann, I could offer you and the lovely people at Nintendo some Oreo balls that are dipped in white chocolate with pink sparkle frosting. Maybe that would aid the decision making process?

Pic of cakes that probably won't work...here

And a bottle of the most expensive bottle of crisp White wine that I could afford?Smile
