We have another exciting product test for you - we are looking for 40 Mumsnetters who don't already have a Wii at home but would like to take part in "My First Wii Challenge" with Nintendo.

Nintendo say they "are keen to offer Wiis to 40 MN families to encourage them to spend fun time together as a family as well as give them the opportunity to test out some great games". If you already have a Wii, please look out for the feedback thread for this project as Nintendo would like to hear your views too (in exchange for a prize draw Grin).

If you are selected for the test you'll be sent a Wii console, handsets and nunchucks for all the family plus the following games:

uDraw GameTablet with uDraw Studio
Mario Kart
Kirby's Epic Yarn, and
Just Dance Jnrs

We'd then like you to take part in 4 weekly challenges with the Wii. This will involve playing with one game per week and adding your feedback to a thread on Mumsnet.

The challenge will start week commencing 4 July and last for 4 weeks - so please only apply if you are able to add feedback every week in July.

Ideally we're looking for MNers in the UK with at least 2 children.

After the challenge is completed and you have added at least 4 lots of feedback you will be able to keep the console and games for your family to enjoy.

In addition, we will need 10 of the families selected to film themselves and their family playing with the Wii. These videos will be used on the Nintendo pages on Mumsnet in the autumn and possibly elsewhere (they will be hosted on YouTube). If you are willing to undertake the video element please indicate this on the form link below. You will be supplied with a FlipCam (which will need to be returned). You will be briefed on filming requirements but it shouldn't be too onerous.

To sign up please add your details here

Good luck and many thanks

Ohhh semi exciting news, we have a Wii with Mumsnet advert on the homepage although we don't have a link to our feedback thread yet.

I'm also deleting our home video & officially handing my notice in as

A. My family do not look that happy whilst playing the Wii, we fight over the controller &

B. I do not live in Ikea.

Fennel · 19/07/2011 09:49

lol, Bohica, we have finally achieved some Happy Footage of family playing pictionary on the wii. In a not totally trashed room. It took some effort.

AnnMumsnet · 19/07/2011 18:11

sorry guys....am hoping soon for the feedback thread...will definitely email you all a link.

rusmum · 19/07/2011 20:20

any news on feedback? am going away on sat for a week.

heymammy · 19/07/2011 22:28

My two DDs (8 & 5) love Kirby, both got to grips with it really quickly.
Pictionary was a huge it though DD2 did struggle with some of the clues.

The Udraw tablet thing is pretty good and they have both drawn a few pictures, though we have yet to take on spongebob.

DP has been playing to and cobbled together some pics on udraw (well it impressed the girls anyway) We are on our hols at the moment, but will get more playing time in when we get home.

I think it'll be a while before we buy any new games, the dds can have them for birthdays or Christmas if they want. I am a bit Hmm about Wiifit, when I could just go for a run or similar.

I agree Mariokart looks dire (I haven't played anything, I leave that to DP and dds), but all those racing games seem very boring to me. Kirby and Udraw seem quite good. and the kayaking and swordfighting and plane-balloon-popping on Wiisport are the things I might play, if I could be bothered.

(I don't think I'm their target market really. but dds are very happy with it all).

JemimaMuddledUp · 20/07/2011 09:50

DS1 and DS2 are semi addicted to Mario Kart. I actually remember Mario Kart from the first time round in the 90s, a friend of mine at uni had it. I was useless at it then and still am now

The boys also like Wii Sports, especially the tennis and golf. I am getting quite good at tenpin bowling Grin

DD likes UDraw, but she is taking a bit longer than the boys to get the hang of using the Wii as she is younger.

Triggles · 20/07/2011 12:08

DH & I have been having some fun playing MarioKart, however, we would enjoy it MUCH more with an additional controller so we could race each other. Same with the sports games.

We've been enjoying it, but it is limited for the moment. Any news on the additional controllers and nunchuks?

LawrieMarlow · 20/07/2011 12:46

I would like to get an Olympics type game. DS would like a total wipeout game. DD would like a Hello Kitty one.

We are more likely to get an Olympics type one Grin

Triggles · 20/07/2011 12:49

Hey - has anyone found an option on the bowling to have the gutters blocked - like you do in real bowling alleys for kids? That'd make bowling MUCH more enjoyable for DS2 (5yo). If it's there and someone knows how, please let me know. Feeling a bit of a technophobe with this thing! Grin

GypsyMoth · 20/07/2011 12:50

my older teen girls have borrowed 'just dance' this one isnt the junior one tho. its quite difficult, but some songs are from way back and i can sing along!!Grin

looking forward to the junior one....but more controllers required. had to limit wii time as its a nightmare with 5 dc and only one controllerSad

5inthebed · 20/07/2011 12:57

I am yet to film anything without deleting it. Last time I filmed the DC playing mariocart, my neice decidwed to dig around in her nose and eat the contents

Scootergrrrl · 20/07/2011 13:39

Triggles - the 100 pin game has blocked gutters, I think, and also lets you get much higher scores!

Triggles · 20/07/2011 16:56

Scootergrrrl - thank you!!! We'll try that tonight. We're going to let DS2 stay up later than usual tonight to play a bit.

Collision · 20/07/2011 18:05

Am still a bit Hmm on the quality of my film if I film it with only one controller as it will look very boring!! Grin

Bohica · 20/07/2011 22:35

I've got footage of my DD (3y) playing mario whilst wiping her nose on her dress, 3 minutes of silly giggly fits whilst trying to do an on camera review & one that was left filming with me shouting "that's It!! Put it away, if you can't share then it's going back, I MEAN IT!!!!!" I've left it all on there, it's our family life after all Grin

I like MarioKart & will spend hours a few minutes of my day racing people in Japan.

I haven't bought extra games as they are very expensive so will be birthday & christmas presents here.

Collision · 20/07/2011 22:36

I shouted that the Wii was 'going back to Mumsnet!' tonight as the boys were squabbling over it!

Triggles · 21/07/2011 06:33

We tried the spongebob game a bit more extensively last night. Does anyone else find the side panel arrow a bit fiddly to actually click on?! Drove me mental trying to get it sorted. Seems like the pen doesn't go to the edges well - not nearly as responsive as, say, a mouse or my touch pad on my laptop is. A bit more difficult to use in that respect. I can see where the little short games are fun (and possibly addictive), however, it'd be nice to have a couple settings on it where there is more time available for each game, for little ones. DS2 (5) really wanted to play the games but got frustrated quite quickly as there simply wasn't enough time for him to attempt them before the time ran out.

oricella · 21/07/2011 07:25

Glad I'm not the only one who has threatened to send the whole lot back... had to turn off last night as 2 year old insisted on driving a Mario Kart all by herself (me do it! ME DO IT) and 4 year old howling as she kept driving into the abyss

HumperdinkFangboner · 21/07/2011 09:42

Has anyone had the extra controllers yet?

Neverlandpirate · 21/07/2011 09:50

No extra controllers here yet Humperdink, had thought maybe today, but obviously not as no one has mentioned it yet, and if it was to be today then someone would have received it from the courier or what ever by now?

Maybe tomorrow? Hmm

GypsyMoth · 21/07/2011 15:11

Maybe Ann knows? Tbh I was expecting her to post here to say if they had been despatched. Same with the just dance juniors.

GypsyMoth · 21/07/2011 15:12

If we get them at all as the product test is due to end next week and we haven't even started it yet!
