We have another exciting product test for you - we are looking for 40 Mumsnetters who don't already have a Wii at home but would like to take part in "My First Wii Challenge" with Nintendo.

Nintendo say they "are keen to offer Wiis to 40 MN families to encourage them to spend fun time together as a family as well as give them the opportunity to test out some great games". If you already have a Wii, please look out for the feedback thread for this project as Nintendo would like to hear your views too (in exchange for a prize draw Grin).

If you are selected for the test you'll be sent a Wii console, handsets and nunchucks for all the family plus the following games:

uDraw GameTablet with uDraw Studio
Mario Kart
Kirby's Epic Yarn, and
Just Dance Jnrs

We'd then like you to take part in 4 weekly challenges with the Wii. This will involve playing with one game per week and adding your feedback to a thread on Mumsnet.

The challenge will start week commencing 4 July and last for 4 weeks - so please only apply if you are able to add feedback every week in July.

Ideally we're looking for MNers in the UK with at least 2 children.

After the challenge is completed and you have added at least 4 lots of feedback you will be able to keep the console and games for your family to enjoy.

In addition, we will need 10 of the families selected to film themselves and their family playing with the Wii. These videos will be used on the Nintendo pages on Mumsnet in the autumn and possibly elsewhere (they will be hosted on YouTube). If you are willing to undertake the video element please indicate this on the form link below. You will be supplied with a FlipCam (which will need to be returned). You will be briefed on filming requirements but it shouldn't be too onerous.

To sign up please add your details here

Good luck and many thanks

Hopefully we'll hear something soon. Very difficult to give a clear review of it as a "family experience" if everyone's fighting over it.

HumperdinkFangboner · 21/07/2011 17:19

But I'm going on holiday soon

Collision · 21/07/2011 18:25

ANN!!!

We have questions!!!!!

PLEASE COME HERE................................

Neverlandpirate · 21/07/2011 19:31

Any news yet?

Jux · 21/07/2011 19:38

No more controllers here either. It's a shame as I had had loads of people organised to come over and play, 3or 4 at a time about 3times a week for the duration so each game got a good outing and trial. We were all looking forward to it so much, but it's not worth it with only one controller. Still, I've had a more active social life in the last few weeks, though the adults let the kids squabble over the Wii and we hide in the kitchen getting pissed.

We put off trying !arioKart until the controllers came, but finally tried it yesterday. It was fun. I WAS RUBBISH!!!! I am a menace on the roads. Actually managed to get dh to try too (he has been disdainful of the whole thing, despite promising to join in). I think he thinks games are foolish things, best left to women and children (he's a miserable old git!). Anyway, he got all competitive, and was mighty disgruntled until he had bested dd's score.

DD and I played again today. To our surprise, we had both improved immeasurably since yesterday. I even came first on a couple of races. I had been consistently 12th yesterday. Does this thing develop an affinity to its' hosts and artificially skew results (doo doo do do, doo doo do do) in their favour? Or is it nanobots in the machinery whispering to each other? (shut up Jux Grin).

5inthebed · 21/07/2011 20:40

No controllers here either.

DS2 has completed Kirby, his favourite game.

AnnMumsnet · 22/07/2011 09:10

Triggles · 22/07/2011 18:20

I do hope we see the controllers soon. I want to annihilate my DH at MarioKart! Grin It just doesn't provide the same feeling of satisfaction taking turns and comparing times. I want the whole "woohoooooo I win I win!" experience, with punching the air, jumping up and down, and dancing. Grin

Jux · 22/07/2011 22:30

Best hangover cure is a couple of jam doughnuts and a glass of orange juice. Here you are....

Triggles, that's what I want with dd, dh and as many mates as poss. It's what they're all waiting for too!

Jux · 23/07/2011 20:10

We've all tried Kirby's epic yarn, and we all hate it. I don't hold up much hope that anyone will try it again, I won't be doing so. I suppose it might improve if you've got more than one player, but none of us have enjoyed it enough to worry much. You can't win 'em all.

LawrieMarlow · 23/07/2011 20:15

DS is happily Mario Karting :)

Still amazed we got a Wii Grin

Bohica · 23/07/2011 21:18

DD3 (3yrs) Loves Kirby & it's much better now we have borrowed a couple of controllers for the holidays as I can help guide her through the stages with lot's of follow me luv, no not that way encouragement.
7y old also asks to play it but our 9y old has no interest in it & says the colours make her want to swith it off.

MarioKart is also a lot better with extra controller because we can race each other on a split screen.

Bit more filming done as well although the batteries keep running out!
Our filming isn't great because the patio doors are next to the tv so the light is in the wrong direction & I don't want to film from the otherside because you will all see my manky brick built fireplace I can't.

Jux · 23/07/2011 21:46

Bohica I really need to see your manly brick fireplace! My life is going to remain completely incomplete without a glimpse of it Grin

Jux · 23/07/2011 21:48

Mmm I see I've given you an upgrade..... (annoying self-correcting keyboard, how do you turn them off)

5inthebed · 23/07/2011 22:12

Grin Jux

Ds2 loves Kirby, but only likes the bosses Hmm

DS3 loves Udraw and Mariocart

And DS1 likes everything.

We borrowed an extra controller as well as mario party, which is a great game. One to buy for christmas me thinks.

Bohica · 23/07/2011 22:13

Grin I wish it was manly & not manky.

You can't see it Jux not unless you promise to come round & help me rip it out, why anyone ever thought red bricked floor to ceiling fire places were attractive is boyond me Hmm

I think I might cover it in a bed sheet & pretend I have the builders in!

HumperdinkFangboner · 24/07/2011 10:05

Still loving Mario Karts here. DD is desperately awaiting Dance Jnrs - reckon we'll get the best filming from that!

Jux · 24/07/2011 13:09

Bohica, I remember a friend putting one in - this would have been in the 70s. The rest of the room was fantastic and I remember nearly asking her when she was going to finish it and do something about the fireplace; luckily she was enthusing about everything so much that I didn't get a word in. She'd 'saved the best for last' and spent a good 5 minutes telling me the problems of getting the horrible thing to be just like that. I'll help you get rid of it with pleasure. Have you a got a sledgehammer? I know a young guy with one who got rid of our revolting concrete garden path in a morning......

Bohica · 24/07/2011 13:30

It such an eye sore but ripping it out would mean replastering the wall & replacing the coving & then I would want to artex the bobbly ceiling & get rid of the plastic rose...........

Or I Could just put the sofa on that wall to cover the hole in the carpet & buy a massive picture to cover the wall?

GypsyMoth · 24/07/2011 13:33

Where is everything? Bit disappointed and not quite sure what to do now really! July is almost up

Bohica · 24/07/2011 13:47

I know ILove It's not been the family experience I expected & because I told the children what games to expect I am getting nagged for the Dance Jnr. Although they got told to not be so ungratefull & be glad for what they did receive.

Are you filming? How are the other filmers getting on. We have borrowed an extra control so we have some interactive filming done but most of it is 2 children watching another child with lot's of "I'm next" "No mum said I am" "MUUUUUUUUUUMMMMMMMMYYYYYY IT'S MY TURN NEXT"

Or one child looking like a zombie plonked infront of the TV - filming someone drawing a picture is VERY boring viewing imo.

God I sound so ungratefull - I'm really not you know.

Triggles · 24/07/2011 14:17

Unfortunately, that's where we're at as well. Fighting over whose turn it is and how long they're taking (because obviously if one is better at a game, they get a longer turn and it's unnnnnnnfaaaaaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiirrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Hmm). We had extra kids over yesterday and ended up putting it away because of the fighting.

On a side note, I would like to know how anyone's younger ones are doing with the Spongebob game. DS2 is 5yo and loves to try it, but gets easily frustrated because the timer is SO SHORT!! Is there an option anywhere on there to lengthen the timer so little ones with less coordination get a fair shot at it as well?
