We have another exciting product test for you - we are looking for 40 Mumsnetters who don't already have a Wii at home but would like to take part in "My First Wii Challenge" with Nintendo.

Nintendo say they "are keen to offer Wiis to 40 MN families to encourage them to spend fun time together as a family as well as give them the opportunity to test out some great games". If you already have a Wii, please look out for the feedback thread for this project as Nintendo would like to hear your views too (in exchange for a prize draw Grin).

If you are selected for the test you'll be sent a Wii console, handsets and nunchucks for all the family plus the following games:

uDraw GameTablet with uDraw Studio
Mario Kart
Kirby's Epic Yarn, and
Just Dance Jnrs

We'd then like you to take part in 4 weekly challenges with the Wii. This will involve playing with one game per week and adding your feedback to a thread on Mumsnet.

The challenge will start week commencing 4 July and last for 4 weeks - so please only apply if you are able to add feedback every week in July.

Ideally we're looking for MNers in the UK with at least 2 children.

After the challenge is completed and you have added at least 4 lots of feedback you will be able to keep the console and games for your family to enjoy.

In addition, we will need 10 of the families selected to film themselves and their family playing with the Wii. These videos will be used on the Nintendo pages on Mumsnet in the autumn and possibly elsewhere (they will be hosted on YouTube). If you are willing to undertake the video element please indicate this on the form link below. You will be supplied with a FlipCam (which will need to be returned). You will be briefed on filming requirements but it shouldn't be too onerous.

To sign up please add your details here

Good luck and many thanks

Played Pictionary today with friend. She CHEATED!!!!!!!!!! by not covering her eyes. I had to draw 'mother in law' which was quite a difficult thing, but my friend got it. Amidst massive protestations of innocence she then continued to cheat massively and won. It was very silly and we had great fun.

I'm getting used to the tablet now, and the pen is getting easier to use. It seems to be more responsive but that probably is just me. Funnily enough, today, I didn't have to keep poking the remote out of the tablet to get it to register, though there was no difference in the set-up or where I was sitting.

We also played a bit of Spongebob. The games are silly and fun and go quite fast so we played with much hilarity as we were just dumb and slow.

Very good afternoon of ridiculousness. Thank you MN and Nintendo.

HumperdinkFangboner · 15/07/2011 22:44

We're definitely away for 2 weeks in August!

Collision · 16/07/2011 09:19

We're away too but am sure that Nintendo will take into consideration things were late and it will not matter too much.

We love the Wii sport and Pictionary. In fact we are having a championship game of it tonight with the boys.

Boys love SpongeBob too.

Anyone around to help with tips for the Udraw, we can't really use it.
Trying to colour pictures but we can't change colours etc. It's all there but it won't let us change colour.

So fiddly having to take the controller in & out & I now have 3 stroppy children because it won't work!!

Scootergrrrl · 16/07/2011 13:12

Keep the controller plugged in and use the clicky button on the pen to go in and out of the toolbox. Then press on the picture of the brushes and stuff on the bottom left to change your medium and the palette etc to change colour. The easiest way we've found to use the colors is the coloured boxes which let you use different shades of whatever colour. Is that any help?

Bohica · 16/07/2011 13:36

Thanks Scoot I was trying to use the controller Blush I even had a stroppy "oh this is so rubbish moment*

We have done some filming, not sure how usable it is as DD3 is in a fowl mood & kept taking the camera off the table.

The elder 2 enjoyed filming but again it all got a bit silly so I have put it away for a while.

ProfYaffle · 16/07/2011 13:41

I think the free drawing thing on Pictionary is better than the Udraw game tbh.

Scootergrrrl · 16/07/2011 13:58

No problem. Is it a bit clearer now? We found it quite helpful to start on the abstract bit of the colouring book and use the paint pot fill in thing so there were no dramas about green skies or purple faces - it's all just patterns! Also if you make a mistake, click the minus button on the controller to take you back a step. I had to have a good play on my own with no stroppy DC and the instructions next to me to figure it all out!

Bohica · 16/07/2011 14:40

I may have a go on my own this evening then, last night I ended up on MarioKart with a large glass of red, I definatly play better after a glass of wine Grin

Scootergrrrl · 16/07/2011 14:59

I do EVERYTHING better after a large glass of red Wink

The dds are obsessed with creating people on Mii Wii at the moment. But the music reminds me soooooo much of the theme from 'Soap' !

Belo · 16/07/2011 17:41

Ditto on the Mii front. dd2 has 7 versions of herself. She prefers creating Mii's to playing on any of the games.

Mario is my fave so far. I can't claim to be any good at it though. I was delighted to come 11th instead of last in the game we've just played. (or rather I've just played).

HereLiesDobbyAFreeElf · 17/07/2011 10:09

My dad has brought over his spare Wii controller (yes my dad has a Wii) so peace restored for now. DS1+2 are enjoying Kirby together, they are working well together, which makes me :)

ProfYaffle · 17/07/2011 10:18

Today I have been mostly losing my temper with Kirby's - If I heard "just let me finish this level" one more time I will scream. And what is it with these platform games that mean the curtains have to be drawn and litter strewn all over the living room

Bohica · 17/07/2011 15:16

We have been playing Kirby as well today. DD loves turning nto a tank & punching things Hmm

Did some filming yesterday but I forgot to pull the blind down so there may be to much light going on.

We now have TWO cameras [confussed] one came from WiiDram & the other is direct from Nintendo, so I will need to envelopes to send them back please!!

KateMiddletonsEyebrows · 17/07/2011 18:16

I swear DS1 (6) has been on Kirby for HOURS. We've had tears, we've had fights, we've had joyous dancing around the living room - it's all going on. He wasn't keen on the idea and said the packaging looked too babyish - but it's fab, and I've enjoyed it too.

Neverlandpirate · 17/07/2011 18:49

Poor dd hasnt had much of a chance on the wii today yet as I have had the golf on most of the day! Blush

As you know I come from N.I. so I had to watch it...especially as I live on the north coast like the winner! It's a good day to be from N.I. Smile

I am going to let her try kirbys now before she goes to bed...

5inthebed · 17/07/2011 21:53

Dh and I have had a game of Pictionary tonight, it is a great game

IHeartKingThistle · 17/07/2011 22:36

The Pictionary drawing is SOOO much more intuitive and responsive than the UDraw studio.

ShatnersBassoon · 18/07/2011 10:04

We're not getting much out of the Udraw studio I don't think. The adults aren't interested at all in it. The children get frustrated with having to go in and out of the menu to change colour etc, pressing the button on the pen by mistake, having to hold the pen vertically...

Pictionary is fun and we have enjoyed a few games of that, and they've really liked the drawing and colouring in thing on Spongebob (but not the impossibly fast games!), so we've been putting that on instead of the Studio.

Kirby's is a big hit with the kids, and I've been having a little go myself. My thumb was throbbing the other evening after too much Kirby's and Mario Kart Blush.

Jux · 18/07/2011 12:24

We played Pictionary yesterday with a friend of dd's. It was fun, and drawing was much easier than in the uDraw studio. The pen is fiddly, and the constant going in and out of the picture to change size, colour etc is irritating and slow. You don't have to do that in Pictionary.

Yesterday was a 'poking the controller out of the tablet' day. No rhyme or reason. Perhaps it's the weather Grin

oneofsuesylvesterscheerios · 18/07/2011 21:56

When are we getting the proper feedback thread? I need to start it as we're off on holiday 30th for over 2 weeks - as with others I thought we'd be much further in than we are due to late start.

1st - uDarw
2nd - Mario

is that right?

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 18/07/2011 22:22

DS1 is 5 and getting on really well with the udraw studio, changing colours, pen size and using the bucket fill thingy, ds2 is 3 and quite likes the stamps but can't do it by himself.

We've still not tried Kirby or Pictionary - I hadn't realised that Pictionary had a free draw function so we'll have to have a look at that.

Mario Kart is love by all though I drive with ds2 (so we win quite a lot which ds2 isn't amused by!) but more controllers would be good so that we could race against each other.

Both ds's love the sword fighting on wii sports and they're surprisingly good at it too!

It looks as if we will be going away tomorrow for a few days, but I'll pack the wii - it's pretty small and portable, but I might not be able to get online to report back until the weekend.

pithtaker · 18/07/2011 22:43

Oh crap, the Wii fitness on the sports game thinks I am 80! Think I need a

Wine

Would also like to know if we will be told when the proper feedback thread

is up.

pithtaker · 18/07/2011 22:45

And to rub it in DH has just got a fitness age of 26. twat
