We have another exciting product test for you - we are looking for 40 Mumsnetters who don't already have a Wii at home but would like to take part in "My First Wii Challenge" with Nintendo.

Nintendo say they "are keen to offer Wiis to 40 MN families to encourage them to spend fun time together as a family as well as give them the opportunity to test out some great games". If you already have a Wii, please look out for the feedback thread for this project as Nintendo would like to hear your views too (in exchange for a prize draw Grin).

If you are selected for the test you'll be sent a Wii console, handsets and nunchucks for all the family plus the following games:

uDraw GameTablet with uDraw Studio
Mario Kart
Kirby's Epic Yarn, and
Just Dance Jnrs

We'd then like you to take part in 4 weekly challenges with the Wii. This will involve playing with one game per week and adding your feedback to a thread on Mumsnet.

The challenge will start week commencing 4 July and last for 4 weeks - so please only apply if you are able to add feedback every week in July.

Ideally we're looking for MNers in the UK with at least 2 children.

After the challenge is completed and you have added at least 4 lots of feedback you will be able to keep the console and games for your family to enjoy.

In addition, we will need 10 of the families selected to film themselves and their family playing with the Wii. These videos will be used on the Nintendo pages on Mumsnet in the autumn and possibly elsewhere (they will be hosted on YouTube). If you are willing to undertake the video element please indicate this on the form link below. You will be supplied with a FlipCam (which will need to be returned). You will be briefed on filming requirements but it shouldn't be too onerous.

To sign up please add your details here

Good luck and many thanks

Does anyone know when we have to do the first feedback and what it will be?

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 10/07/2011 21:56

I thought the UDraw was th first one that we'll be reviewing but not sure when, we might be a bit behind schedule especially as some peoples' haven't arrived yet

Bohica · 10/07/2011 22:21

Iwish the Wii sports/Wii resort disc came with the console but not in a case.

Choose Wii fit not resort on the selection page & the testing part is on the right hand side of the screen, there are 2 options on the right but hover over them & they will tell you which one to choose, it's the last one I think.

You then have to do a short test on bowling, tennis & baseball & will then calculate how fit you are!

Udraw is first but until everyone has their Wii I doubt the thread can start, so I am just posting daily on here & hoping we can all help each other get started properly Smile

JulesJules · 10/07/2011 22:22

We haven't got ours yet, I'm hoping it will be delivered tomorrow as DH will be in - although he is under strict instructions not to open the box until I get home from work!

Bohica · 10/07/2011 22:25

Fingers crossed for you Jules the red packaging is very pretty even if I only got to see it for 0.1 nano second before the DC jumped on it.

How old are your children?

WiiDram · 10/07/2011 22:26

ours is here!

console/sports thingy, 1 nunchuck, 1 remote, kirby's epic yarn, mario cart, the udraw

but no dance game, spongebob thank god or pictionary, and no 'handsets and nunchucks for all the family'

oh and they sent me a camera even though i am not doing the filming anymore

Bohica · 10/07/2011 22:44

WiiDram you have my camera!!!!!

Did it arrive in your bundle? I think Ann said they sent from the old list in the end.

I think Ann has done a fantastic job in organizing such a fab product test but I do have a teeny tiny feeling that Nintendo haven't been on the ball with delivery & organizing. It felt rushed & then with no delivery for ages & then no complete bundles/cameras....

Moan over.

LawrieMarlow · 10/07/2011 22:56

I have been playing table tennis. And golf frisbee Hmm. Let it just be said that I do not think there is any likelihood of me giving up the day job and becoming a golf frisbee expert Grin

I am enjoying it. So are the DC Smile. And the amount of Miis they have created is quite staggering it has to be said.

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 10/07/2011 23:00

I'll let you all know how fit I am tomorrow Wink

WiiDram · 10/07/2011 23:11

ha bohica i should probably just post it straight to you Grin

agreed re. ann - you have done a sterling job of managing our ridiculously high expectations, thank you v v v much

i don't want to know how unfit i am, though actually having said that i spend most of every day lugging a stone and a half of 10mo baby around so maybe fitter than i think....

GypsyMoth · 10/07/2011 23:19

Well after a day of wii sports I dragged 2 dc off to the park whilst I did a 40 min run. They played tennis, real tennis on the court, before returning home to play yet more tennis on the wii!!!

Not done my fitness age yet, but I'm active so it had better be good!

Jux · 10/07/2011 23:40

Set it up this morning while dd and dh went to collect dd's friend, 'twas very easy to do. Immediately, and very strangely, I started on the Sports Resort - we are the most unsporty family you could hope to find - and really got into fencing: they're LIGHT SABRES!!!! Love the action replays. It's all so utterly silly.

All in all, kept dd and I highly amused for rather a long time. Will have a look at uDraw tomorrow, get dh into it when he's feeling a bit better.

LawrieMarlow · 11/07/2011 09:23

I didn't just get back from the school run and play baseball

roomforthree · 11/07/2011 09:45

It's arrived! I'm going to let ds1 open it when he gets home from school. I can't wait to see his face Grin

Thank you so much Ann, Mn and Nintendo Smile

Lastyearsmodel · 11/07/2011 10:51

Anyone played Kirby's Epic Yarn yet? That bit where the ickle fluffy character turns into a tank and you can shoot the birds? It's all pink and 5yo DD1 loves it, then veers off into 'Die you woolly bastards!'. Absolutely bizarre. But kind of fun too. Blush (they don't swear in the game, in case I've worried anyone)

HereLiesDobbyAFreeElf · 11/07/2011 10:52

Ours is here and DS3 (2) loves the Idraw. He has been colouring in for half an hour now. Trying to film him and he is having none of it, he wants the camera whenever I get it out.

Thanks so much Nintendo.

Didn;t get pictionary or spongebob though :(

HereLiesDobbyAFreeElf · 11/07/2011 10:52

Ah, forgot my namechang, it's 5inthebed here.

HumperdinkFangboner · 11/07/2011 11:29

My 3yo is hogging the udraw tablet, she loves the stamping. Can't quite figure out how to do the menus for herself yet though and it's not much fun to film she's just sat there stamping away!

Scootergrrrl · 11/07/2011 12:34

(cuddles the Wii...)

A fitness age of 34! (And I am actually older than that)

(Scooter ticks off another reason to love the new Wii Grin)

Belo · 11/07/2011 12:36

Hello... Late to join the discussion. I didn't realise this thread was being used for comments. Sorry.

We got our long awaited Wii on Saturday. It came while my DD were out, so I've been a mean mummy and hidden all of the games apart from uDraw which I understand is the first one comments are required on. Correct me if I'm wrong... Anyway, i know what my girls are like and they would have gone crazy if given everything all in go and they would not have played with anything properly.

So, my opinion on uDraw? Somehow, I think it is faulty. It allows my 5 and 8 year old to produce reasonable pictures, but when I try it it all goes a bit wrong. Perhaps I am off the wrong generation. I just found it a bit frustrating. However, the girls love it and got up early this morning to squeeze in another game before school.

I think I'll let them have a couple of days more on that before I introduce the sports resorts games which of course I'll be fantastic at and will once more be able to hold my head up high in the house!

SamsGoldilocks · 11/07/2011 12:37

Meant to add that mine is here. We were out on Saturday morning when it arrived but our kind delivery person left it in my recycling box - luckily that doesn't get emptied at the weekend.

We got a black Wii with Udraw, mario, kirby's and some sports things.

Me and the dd tried udraw - find it really hard but did manage three letters of her name. Get us. Have also done some videoing.

Have been busy for most of the weekend so haven't really roadtested it much yet, so luckily i have no fitness age Grin

HereLiesDobbyAFreeElf · 11/07/2011 12:42

Oh and Bohica if the white controller isn't working, try removing the back of it, there is a buitton there with sync on it and you need to press it pointing towards your Wii. HTH

Scootergrrrl · 11/07/2011 12:51

Bohica - we borrowed another controller too and you have to sync it with your Wii rather than the one it's used to. You need to press the red sync button on the controller at the same time as the one on your Wii (which is under a little secret flap between the eject and reset on the front). Then they can talk to each other properly. HTH.

Lastyearsmodel · 11/07/2011 14:56

Is this the feedback thread, then? Perhaps there'll be a separate one with specific questions on.

Currently waiting for DP to take DS out to get DD1, DD2 is asleep and I want a go on the sports in private!

MrsSnaplegs · 11/07/2011 16:27

Lastyears model my DH caught me playing kirby's yarn on my own after dc went to bedBlush its really addictive and my competitive bug has kicked in - got to beat my 5 yr old dd ( well not literally Grin)
