We have another exciting product test for you - we are looking for 40 Mumsnetters who don't already have a Wii at home but would like to take part in "My First Wii Challenge" with Nintendo.

Nintendo say they "are keen to offer Wiis to 40 MN families to encourage them to spend fun time together as a family as well as give them the opportunity to test out some great games". If you already have a Wii, please look out for the feedback thread for this project as Nintendo would like to hear your views too (in exchange for a prize draw Grin).

If you are selected for the test you'll be sent a Wii console, handsets and nunchucks for all the family plus the following games:

uDraw GameTablet with uDraw Studio
Mario Kart
Kirby's Epic Yarn, and
Just Dance Jnrs

We'd then like you to take part in 4 weekly challenges with the Wii. This will involve playing with one game per week and adding your feedback to a thread on Mumsnet.

The challenge will start week commencing 4 July and last for 4 weeks - so please only apply if you are able to add feedback every week in July.

Ideally we're looking for MNers in the UK with at least 2 children.

After the challenge is completed and you have added at least 4 lots of feedback you will be able to keep the console and games for your family to enjoy.

In addition, we will need 10 of the families selected to film themselves and their family playing with the Wii. These videos will be used on the Nintendo pages on Mumsnet in the autumn and possibly elsewhere (they will be hosted on YouTube). If you are willing to undertake the video element please indicate this on the form link below. You will be supplied with a FlipCam (which will need to be returned). You will be briefed on filming requirements but it shouldn't be too onerous.

To sign up please add your details here

Good luck and many thanks

MNHQ

I take it all back Ann, your a glamour puss!!!!!

We're in & the children have just danced around the lounge in pure joy. It's certainly taken their mind off the thunder storm Smile

rusmum · 28/06/2011 17:11

YAY! me too- I am soo exited!

GypsyMoth · 28/06/2011 17:20

I have teens and a 3 and 8 year old, so pretty much covers age ranges

Think I put about xbox addicts up in the bedroom, and a wii brings family together more

SeenButNotHeard · 28/06/2011 17:33

Hmmm - maybe it is random, and I guess I don't know how many applied.

I put in much the same as most of you. We have an old (donated Grin) PS2 which my dh pays golf/war games on and dc have just started to use it to play a 'smartie' game.

I hate that fact that it is so solitary. My DH and I work full time and at the weekends we want to spend time together.
I am not convinced about the benefit of this type of system, but given that dh and dc are so keen, was willing to give it ago.

Ah well, no use moaning I suppose, I just wanted to be convinced that the selection process is fair.

Scootergrrrl · 28/06/2011 17:35

(Squeals with excitement....)

The DC might just not kill each other over the school holidays now they have this to keep them occupied/be bribed with.

Many thanks Nintendo and MNHQ!

5inthebed · 28/06/2011 17:43

Ah, I have three DC, who fight over the one DS in the house which happns to be mine!

AnnMumsnet · 28/06/2011 17:44

SeenButNotHeard - sorry you are disappointed - the selection process is fair but we can't choose everyone who applies (much as we'd like to!). We close recruitment off after we have a good number to select from who fit the bill rather than having 1000s apply. We like to have a good representation of MNers for product tests and I guess you were just unlucky this time.
As I said please do look out for other tests we have coming up...

Thanks for taking the time to respond Ann - I know you are not answerable to any of us Blush

I guess I am still left wondering why, when Nintendo specifically said that they wanted families with two children, some of us were still overlooked for those with one?

I will keep an eye out for any other product tests that take my fancy!

ruddynorah · 28/06/2011 19:00

it says 'ideally' they would like families with two children. goodness some folk sure are raining on the winners' parades! keep entering the competitions and you will probably win something eventually. i enter loads and win quite a bit. it's meant to be fun, not an attempt to put the world to rights.

I really am not trying to make anyone feel bad, whatever you might think ruddynorah - glad you have entered loads and won quite a bit. That's great.

Will leave this now - trying to understand the process, rather than get into a squable.

PippiLongBottom · 28/06/2011 19:40

I'm just fucking jealous Envy

GypsyMoth · 28/06/2011 19:50

so who has agreed to be filmed??
we didnt, but i would change my mind on that if necessary

ruddynorah · 28/06/2011 19:51

i agreed.

Adair · 28/06/2011 19:51

Oh, I know. I feel guilty because, well, that's just me...

I have entered loads and loads and loads of things and not won before (though I did get tomato seeds). i really didn't expect to be selected - i imagine they do a mixture of fits-the-criteria and 'out of the hat'.

Hope you get chosen for the next one (first class flights to Barbados I reckon... Wink)

Bohica · 28/06/2011 19:52

I agreed but we arn't going to be filmed.

Bohica · 28/06/2011 19:57

Oops pushed post to quickly.
I have googled the uDraw, it's got pictionary on it! But it will also be great for our 3y old to draw pictures that appear on the tv Smile

Neverlandpirate · 28/06/2011 20:19

I feel so guilty that I have been selected as I only have one child..although I do have granny (soon to be 75) who lives here too, and she is keen to try it out too..so maybe having gran to test it is useful to nintendo?

I do feel quite deflated now that I have upset people by being chosen when they haven't. I filled my form in honestly and am as surprised as you that I got picked.

Neverlandpirate · 28/06/2011 20:23

Oh I know I have nothing to actually feel guilty about..I am just one of those sensitive sods who cares about others. Pity there weren't 100 wii's available..then we could maybe all have it...

5inthebed · 28/06/2011 20:39
