Q1
It felt less drying to my skin than ordinary Fairy. Kids reckoned it was like using the creamy handwashing liquid we have in the bathroom.

Q2
I usually use other Fairy varieties (not original) and found it equally pleasant but creamier. (I had the almond one).

Q3
I may well buy it again although I would be more tempted if it were on special offer.

Q4
I would definitely recommend it, especially to friends with dry skin conditions.

I found using a creamy opaque liquid for dishwashing to be more of a mental adjustment! I had previously avoided them as I presumed they would not be as bubbly. I am pleased to have been given the opportunity to be proved wrong Smile

Q1 How did using new Fairy Clean & Care with a touch of Olay softness make your hands feel after using it? What did other household users say about this? Was lovely, really, really soft abd smelled great, hands felt great not dried out and crabby like most detergenys - was almost as though the moisture was locked into my skin. dH said what is this new pink stuff (peach darling but never mind) and why are my hands all girly!!

Q2 How did new Fairy Clean & Care with a touch of Olay softness compare to your normal dish washing liquid? I always use Fairy but this was much nicer, smelled stronger which I liked and made hands much softer.

Q3 Do you think you would buy new Fairy Clean & Care with a touch of Olay softness again? (The recommended price is £1.50 for 433ml though retailers may well have it on special offer) Yes - and I bought my MIL some for a present too!

Q4 Would you recommend (or have you already recommended) new Fairy Clean & Care with a touch of Olay softness to your friends? Yes - bragged that I had a bottle sent to me by the Fairy Fairy and told them how great it was - one actually said had I had a new hand cream as she noticed that my fingers were no longer all scaley around my rings where I don;t usually wash of the soap suds properly.

Answers:
Q1 My hands did feel softer after using and do feel smoother compared to normal washing up liquid. I am the only one who does the washing up.

Q2 I noticed that it was less bubbly and frothy, but washed the dishes well. The smell was nice but smelt more like shampoo and bubble bath than washing up liquid should. The bottle is lasting well as I have a considerable amount left.

Q3 I would only purchase the new Fairy if it was on offer.

Q4 I would recommend this to my mother in law, especially if she could purchase this on offer she would find this item good on her hands as she is always washing up.

Hi,

Questions:
Q1 How did using new Fairy Clean & Care with a touch of Olay softness make your hands feel after using it? What did other household users say about this?
Actually I think that my hands are a bit softer than before. I really hate the feeling of greasy moisturiser on my hands, so it is good for that.

Q2 How did new Fairy Clean & Care with a touch of Olay softness compare to your normal dish washing liquid?
I'm afraid the smell was overpowering and it left a sort of smell 'residue' on our crockery, which was off putting. DH really didn't like it. Very bubbly, which was very bizarre as we normally use ecover which doesn't bubble so much, used more water rinsing everything!

Q3 Do you think you would buy new Fairy Clean & Care with a touch of Olay softness again? (The recommended price is £1.50 for 433ml though retailers may well have it on special offer)
I have bought it for work, but I would not buy it for home.

Q4 Would you recommend (or have you
already recommended) new Fairy Clean & Care with a touch of Olay softness to your friends?
I would recommend that my hands were
softer.

Any other comments?
I know that there are other fragrances in the range so possibly other 'flavours' might be less strong. I also thought that it didn't last very long. Not sure if anyone else found this - or I just do too much washing up!

Thank you very much!

Hi, here are my answers:

Q1 How did using new Fairy Clean & Care with a touch of Olay softness make your hands feel after using it? What did other household users say about this?

I have not noticed any real difference although the liqud is alot more creamy than regular Fairy.

Q2 How did new Fairy Clean & Care with a touch of Olay softness compare to your normal dish washing liquid?

I usually use regular Fairy which I find has a far fresher smell and is easier to rinse off plates.

Q3 Do you think you would buy new Fairy Clean & Care with a touch of Olay softness again? (The recommended price is £1.50 for 433ml though retailers may well have it on special offer)

I would not buy it but am always very happy with regular or lemon Fairy.

Q4 Would you recommend (or have you already recommended) new Fairy Clean & Care with a touch of Olay softness to your friends?

I am sorry but I would not recommend it. However, I am grateful for the opportunity of testing.

Questions:
Q1 How did using new Fairy Clean & Care with a touch of Olay softness make your hands feel after using it? What did other household users say about this?

  • Just me...yes, my hands were softer, actually, I was quite surprised by this.

Q2 How did new Fairy Clean & Care with a touch of Olay softness compare to your normal dish washing liquid?

  • I had to use more of it than I usually do, so it didn't seem to go 'a long way' like the old ads always say.

Q3 Do you think you would buy new Fairy Clean & Care with a touch of Olay softness again? (The recommended price is £1.50 for 433ml though retailers may well have it on special offer)

  • no - because it doesn't go as far as I was expecting.

Q4 Would you recommend (or have you already recommended) new Fairy Clean & Care with a touch of Olay softness to your friends?

  • no

Any other comments?

  • It smelled quite nice (almond). Thanks for the freebie!

Q1 How did using new Fairy Clean & Care with a touch of Olay softness make your hands feel after using it? What did other household users say about this?

Skin on hands definitely feels less tight, especially after doing a big wash. Dh says he doesn't notice a difference.

Q2 How did new Fairy Clean & Care with a touch of Olay softness compare to your normal dish washing liquid?

Washed dishes very well and a little seems to go a long way. I normally buy supermarket own brand or normal Fairy if it's on offer

Q3 Do you think you would buy new Fairy Clean & Care with a touch of Olay softness again? (The recommended price is £1.50 for 433ml though retailers may well have it on special offer)

I would definitely keep an eye out for it on offer. Would be willing to pay a bit more than for the supermarket stuff but probably not full price.

Q4 Would you recommend (or have you already recommended) new Fairy Clean & Care with a touch of Olay softness to your friends?

I would recommend it if it came up (i.e. they saw it in my kitchen and asked about it) but I'd be unlikely to start a conversation about it!

Any other comments?

I thought the smell (I had cucumber and aloe) was more like a beauty product (shampoo or shower gel etc.) than a washing liquid which I found kind of odd at first but I'm more used to it after a couple of weeks use.

hogshead · 08/11/2010 21:22

Qu 1:
Initially it irrated the skin on my hands and totally dried them out (I have psoriasis pretty bad and this does tend to happen to me when i try anything new - sorry) but after a week my skin got used to it and now they do feel a little softer than my regular washing up liquid. If I hadnt been testing it i would have resorted back to the marigolds after the first couple of days and probably would never have bought it again though. I am glad i kept going.

DH says `its alright innit. Havent noticed any change'

Qu 2:
Normally we buy supermarket branded liquid (or whatever is on offer) and we found that the Fairy does last longer (still only halfway down bottle) and is more bubbly. We live in a very hard water area and tend to have shove loads in the bowl to get any bubbles normally and initially we had serious bubble issues as i kept shoving too much in!

Qu 3:
Possibly but would definately buy if on offer. Having used Fairy again I would probably look for a cheaper alternative within the Fairy range

Qu 4:
Dont tend to discuss washing up liquid but would if someone complained about dry hands

Other comments:
the peach and mandarin smell is lovely.

I would also recommend that you dont drop the bottle on your foot as I did (great excitement in being chosen as a tester for the first time) it chuffing hurts.

Q1 How did using new Fairy Clean & Care with a touch of Olay softness make your hands feel after using it? What did other household users say about this?

No different to usual.

Q2 How did new Fairy Clean & Care with a touch of Olay softness compare to your normal dish washing liquid?

I prefered the regular fairy really, as almond was too sweet and like a beauty product not a cleaning product.

Q3 Do you think you would buy new Fairy Clean & Care with a touch of Olay softness again? (The recommended price is £1.50 for 433ml though retailers may well have it on special offer)

Prob not, I'd stick to normal fairy.

Q4 Would you recommend (or have you already recommended) new Fairy Clean & Care with a touch of Olay softness to your friends?

I wouldnt say anything negative, but wouldnt go out of my way to recommend it.

Any other comments?

It smelt very sweet, which isnt good ofr a cleaning product. This did reduce in water , which was good, and it cleaned very well. But when I use a tiny bit neat straingt onto a baking tray , for example, it was too strong as soon as began cleaning it with a wet spongy thing.

butterflymum · 08/11/2010 21:38

Tested: Silk and Orchid

Q1 It made my hubby's hands feel softer (and dare I say, he suggested that as I was doing a softness test, maybe I would prefer he bathed in it Blush)

Q2 The colour of this one was probably more suited to a bathroom setting than the colour of my usual liquid. Similarly with the smell. Performance was comparable, but possibly less bubbles than I would have expected, and although it washed greaser items well, the water and liquid did need refreshed almost as quickly.

Q3 I think at the price, it is very expensive and I wouldn't be likely to purchase it.

Q4 Unfortunately I wouldn't.

Additional comments:

The colour of the liquid was actually quite off-putting and did remind me more of bathroom products such as bubble bath/shampoo/shower gel. Similarly with the smell.....it seemed quite pleasant on first few uses and I initially liked it, but after a number of uses, I began to think it wasn't a 'kitchen fresh' smell and would be suited better to a non-kitchen product. Also on the smell, I was drinking from a plastic tumbler that I had forgotten had been washed in the liquid.....I thought the soft drink was very 'flowery' tasting compared to usual....was considering returning the bottle as was sure something wasn't right with the drink....then it dawned on me....the taste was like the smell of the liquid. Only seemed to happen with my plastic tumblers, but did make me tell the rest of family to do as I then did and rinse everything they washed before putting it on draining board.

Final verdict:

I was, unfortunatley, disappointed with the overall product, albeit enjoyed having the opportunity for our family to test it.

Merrylegs · 08/11/2010 21:44
  1. Didn't notice a difference to my hands.
  1. The bubbles were different - smaller and soapier. It was a bit odd using aloe vera and cucumber in the washing up - it reminded me more of a face cream! The smell was very mild - not unpleasant, hardly noticeable in fact. I don't have a regular liquid - whatever is on special offer, or a nice smell - I tend to go for citrus-y smells in the kitchen, or perhaps something fresh like watermelon.
  1. I might try the other 'flavours' as I liked the fact that the bubbles seemed more concentrated and creamier. But I wouldn't go looking for it. I'm not sure I like the idea of washing up with hand/face/beauty cream tbh.
  1. I would recommend a good restaurant, or a film, or a holiday or a great book to a friend. I can't ever imagine having a conversation about washing up liquid. (Although I just did here! Hurrah!)
whomovedmychocolate · 08/11/2010 22:19

I'm back again having spoken to our cleaner who has also been using it.

She says it made her hands much softer but that it was quite slippery and pongy (her words not mine Wink) and that she'd wondered whether I'd refilled it with shower gel (!) Hmm

TidyBush · 08/11/2010 22:22

Tested Peach and Mandarin.

  1. I have very dry skin and whilst this liquid didn't dry my hands out as much as my usual fairy liquid, I still needed to use moisturiser after washing up. It didn't really have much of a smell either. No one else used it.
  1. Certainly more bubbles than usual - cleaned through grease well.
  1. I usually buy fairy liquid but tbh I bulk buy it when it's on offer anyway. So no, I wouldn't pay £1.50 for it.
  1. I don't really discuss cleaning products with my friends but I don't think I would recommend it as I prefer my cleaning products to look and smell like they belong in the kitchen.

Q1 How did using new Fairy Clean & Care with a touch of Olay softness make your hands feel after using it? What did other household users say about this?

DH has been using it to clean his hands after being in the garden - says it is softer
I think it is softer than normal fairy

Q2 How did new Fairy Clean & Care with a touch of Olay softness compare to your normal dish washing liquid?

softer but not nearly as good at getting bubbles out of, didn't do damage to the "grease" on some of the more dirty dishes. (It did still clean but not as many bubbles

Q3 Do you think you would buy new Fairy Clean & Care with a touch of Olay softness again? (The recommended price is £1.50 for 433ml though retailers may well have it on special offer)

Probably not, I think I prefer the normal green fairy or lemon or lavender ones.

Q4 Would you recommend (or have you already recommended) new Fairy Clean & Care with a touch of Olay softness to your friends?

I think I would say that it was softer on the hands but I am not sure I would rave about it, to be honest its not usually a high topic of conversation amongst my friends.

I had the Almond one, and have to be honest the smell really has made me feel very sick, I am not sure if this has tainted it for me - in many respects it needed to be more almondy and less floral sicky. (so sorry but if i was going around smelling them it would definitely stay on the shelf. Also am not sure i liked the opaqueness of it in comparison to normal see through fairy!)

Reggiee · 08/11/2010 23:01

I tested peach & mandarin.

Q1 - Did not notice any difference at all, and I've been doing tons of washing up.

Q2 - I normally use bog standard Fairy. The smell was lovely when sniffing the bottle, but the smell didn't linger after washing up which was a shame. It looks more like hand wash in the bottle than washing up liquid. The bubbles were a bit different - there seemed to be less of them. Washing up was fine and cut through grease as normal.

Q3 - Would buy it if on offer, but not as standard. Doesn't stand out enough for me to pay extra for it.

Q4 - have only mentioned that I'm testing it but wouldn't go out of my way to recommend.

toomuchmonthatendofthemoney · 08/11/2010 23:20

Tried silk and orchid here.

Q1 Hands did feel softer and better than usual immediately after washing up, but the effect did not last long and i still felt i needed to apply hand cream about half an hour afterwards. I am only one who washes up.

Q2 Usually use Ecover. I would say that the Fairy performed as well as Ecover on getting dishes/pans etc clean, but that Ecover lasts a bit longer ie one bowlful of E would do a whole days washing up, whereas sometimes i needed to refresh the Fairy to finish off the days dishes. I liked the smell of the Fairy, found it a pleasant change from most "chemical" cleaning smells, not too strong.

Q3 I buy Ecover because of environmental concerns. However if my store was out of Ecover (does happen) then this would probably be the one i would choose as a replacement as i liked using it.

Q4 Possibly, if someone noticed it in my kitchen or asked what i used. Its a pleasant effective product.

thanks for the test!

gorionine · 09/11/2010 07:12

(cucumber and aloe vera fragrance)

Q1 How did using new Fairy Clean & Care with a touch of Olay softness make your hands feel after using it? What did other household users say about this?

From the first use it made my hands look much nicer(younger) for a few hours. now after about 2 weeks, they do feel softer and my knuckles which are really dry and painful are starting to feel and look much better.

Q2 How did new Fairy Clean & Care with a touch of Olay softness compare to your normal dish washing liquid?
I was a bit "worried" before receiving it as I imagined it would smell and feel like a shower gel rather than a washing up liquide. First impression was that the smell was nice but discreet which is perfect and the consistency is nice, The Fary with a touch of Olay bubbles really well and i seem to use less than my regular one (non fFairy) for same amount of dishes.

Q3 Do you think you would buy new Fairy Clean & Care with a touch of Olay softness again? (The recommended price is £1.50 for 433ml though retailers may well have it on special offer)
The price is a bit high, just under twice the price of the one I usually buy so maybe would not buy every time but in the winter and when on offer yes most definitely.

Q4 Would you recommend (or have you already recommended) new Fairy Clean & Care with a touch of Olay softness to your friends?
yes I would

Any other comments?
Overall I had a positive impression of Fairy with a touch of Olay. It is not something I would have bought from the shop shelves as I would have thought "too posh, too expensive" but now that I have actually tried it as said previously I will fit it in my shopping every now and then.

MaryBS · 09/11/2010 08:11

Q1 How did using new Fairy Clean & Care with a touch of Olay softness make your hands feel after using it? What did other household users say about this?

I found my hands dried out quicker, and I wasd left with wrinkly fingertips

Q2 How did new Fairy Clean & Care with a touch of Olay softness compare to your normal dish washing liquid?

I preferred my normal one (standard Fairy). In addition to the above, the bubbles didn't last as long and you needed more. However the smell was lovely!

Q3 Do you think you would buy new Fairy Clean & Care with a touch of Olay softness again? (The recommended price is £1.50 for 433ml though retailers may well have it on special offer)

Unlikely, will stick with standard Fairy

Q4 Would you recommend (or have you already recommended) new Fairy Clean & Care with a touch of Olay softness to your friends?

Probably not. Nice idea, but it didn't live up to the promise...

LisbethSalander · 09/11/2010 09:48

Hi
I was given the Peach and Mandarin to try

Questions:
Q1 How did using new Fairy Clean & Care with a touch of Olay softness make your hands feel after using it? What did other household users say about this?

I think my hands were noticeably softer than they usually are when finishing washing up. I usually use Surcare as the skin on my hands became far more sensitive after having DD. To begin with my hands did tingle a bit when I used the Fairy but now they're fine. I didn't feel as though they felt too oily after finishing washing up. I'm the only one doing the washing up at the moment here so only me to comment.

Q2 How did new Fairy Clean & Care with a touch of Olay softness compare to your normal dish washing liquid?

I think it did a slightly better job than my usual brand and seemed to make more bubbles - although I did really like the smell so I think I was probably using more so I could smell it as I was washing up.

Q3 Do you think you would buy new Fairy Clean & Care with a touch of Olay softness again? (The recommended price is £1.50 for 433ml though retailers may well have it on special offer)

No. I won't be buying it again at that price. I can get my usual brand at about 89p when it's on offer and I can't justify the extra amount. I'd usually just put hand cream on afterwards instead.

Q4 Would you recommend (or have you already recommended) new Fairy Clean & Care with a touch of Olay softness to your friends?

I haven't recommended it and probably wouldn't purely because of the price I'm afraid. Also, see my comments below, I think I was quite put off by the colour and look of the liquid itself.

Any other comments?
I didn't like the idea of a peach washing up liquid - I'm afraid it made me think of peach loo roll which I think is horrible! I also didn't like the look of it - it looked like a bubble bath and, although it sounds entirely daft, it didn't feel right using something that looks like a product I'd more likely use in a bath. I did really like the smell but really didn't like the pearlescent (sp?) look of the product. I did like how it made my hands feel but would just go back to my normal, cheaper brand and stick to using handcream afterwards. Also, I'm not really sure I'd've noticed the Olay branding on the bottle - it's probably too discrete and I think that for most families buying something like this (which I'd classify as a luxury) is probably not possible now when most people are trying really hard to get the cost of their supermarket shop down.

countingdown · 09/11/2010 10:37

1-no real difference noticed
2-use fairy anyway so didn't notice any difference
3-would not buy. My husband thinks that washing up liquid should only be lemon(!!!). Also think it's a tad expensive
4-no

ISayISayISay · 09/11/2010 11:46

"Q1 How did using new Fairy Clean & Care with a touch of Olay softness make your hands feel after using it? What did other household users say about this?"

I do think my hands feel softer, both after each use and cumulatively. DH notices no difference but neither has he has a seasonal outbreak of hand dryness.

"Q2 How did new Fairy Clean & Care with a touch of Olay softness compare to your normal dish washing liquid?"

I think it compares equally (was a fairy original user) in terms of cleaning but is definitely less drying.

"Q3 Do you think you would buy new Fairy Clean & Care with a touch of Olay softness again? (The recommended price is £1.50 for 433ml though retailers may well have it on special offer)"

I think I would buy it yes. If it was on promotion definitely, more likely to buy at full price in winter. Though if I was trying to trim my budgets it would be one of the first things to go.

"Q4 Would you recommend (or have you already recommended) new Fairy Clean & Care with a touch of Olay softness to your friends?"

I haven't yet recommended it, though if the subject came up I would.

"Any other comments?"

The colour is a bit disconcerting to someone used to regular green, it would have put me off buying it if I hadn't used it before. I also find the smell (Silk and Orchid) overpowering and inappropriate for dishes.

Tikkabillajive · 09/11/2010 11:49

Q1 At first I thought it made the water feel softer, but afterwards it still had the same drying effect on my skin. Still needed to use hand cream afterwards. I quite liked the smell it left on my hands though (though not sure I like it for cleaning dishes, see below). I get contact dermatitis on my hands and it has flared up badly in the last couple of weeks, although I think this is more to do with the cold weather than the washing up liquid, but it certainly hasn?t helped. I?m sticking to wearing gloves to wash up. DH is the main washer-upperer (?!) in this house and he says he hasn?t noticed any difference.

Q2 I didn?t notice much difference other than the smell, which I found a bit too strong and a bit too like shampoo! Although this is nice on hands it doesn?t smell right for washing up liquid! It also looks like shampoo or bubble bath in the bottle, which I find a bit off-putting too. However it does seem to clean everything quite effectively.

Q3 I might do if it was on offer but I'd be more likely to go for original Fairy, or citrus/antibacterial versions.

Q4 No, I don?t tend to talk about washing up liquid with my friends, and I don?t feel it has made that big an impact on my life that I need to rush out and tell everyone!

Any other comments? Thank you, it was fun having a product to test! Smile

welshandproud · 09/11/2010 12:22

Q1 My hands do actually feel a little softer

Q2 Definately Lasts longer

Q3 More expensive than my usual washing up liquid, so probably no, but would definately consider if on offer.

Q4 yes
