Asda is looking for 50 Mumsnetters to try out their Back to School uniform range. They've put in a lot of effort to make it hard-wearing, comfortable and easy to wash and iron and want to put it to the test on your child.

If you have a school-aged child or a child about to start school and would like to put the new range through its paces please add your details by clicking here.

You can select uniform for one child - we're sorry if this causes any problems for those with more than one school aged child but we wanted to ensure as many MNers as possible were able to take part.

You may select a t-shirt/ shirt pack, one trousers/ dress/ shirt and one jumper/ cardigan. The uniform will be worth up to £15.

If you are selected to test the uniform, your name, address and sizing/ clothing requirement details will be sent to Asda who will send you the uniform directly.

We will then need you and your child to try the uniform - really putting it through its paces, washing it, wearing it as usual then to add feedback on Mumsnet.

We'll want you to add feedback three times -

~ once when you first receive it

~ when it has been worn and washed once or twice and

~ lastly when it has been washed and worn a few times

Everyone who is selected for the test, and then offers three lots of feedback will be entered into a prize draw to where one winner will receive £200 of Asda vouchers.

Thanks and good luck. If selected you will be emailed confirmation and should receive uniform within 2-3 weeks.

I've had nothing yet..

Tortoise · 15/09/2010 13:25

Question to those who have their uniform - Does it come by royal mail or courier? Thanks. Smile

smokinaces · 15/09/2010 13:49

Mine came by Royal Mail Tortoise

I like the fit, the 3 button polo shirts sit nicely, and the trousers are good quality (however, not sure a 4 year old will get the hang of a zip and metal clasp) The 5-6 for him is spot on.

The jumper is a lovely colour and cut, but completely impractical IMO for school. It is so thin, it may be good for spring/summer but he's only going to get a couple of wears out of it until its too cold and he'll have to wear his sweatshirt all the time.

NoahAndTheWhale · 15/09/2010 21:24

Nothing here today...

Tortoise · 15/09/2010 22:15

Will it be the day today? Our post comes in about an hours time.

DramaInPyjamas · 16/09/2010 11:32

Arrived today. Well, some of it did! Got a little note in the package saying that the rest will arrive shortly.

So my initial feedback(pt. 1) is..

Cardigan - The EXACT colour that we need, and the price is £4. Very pleased with it, looks good. The school shop in out town sells VERY similar for around £14.
Shirts - Don't remember selecting these to be honest! I'm sure I chose the other style, doesn't matter though, they will do the job as good as any. £2 for 2.

Will return with more feedback soon.

Saltire · 16/09/2010 11:38

Ours arrived, on Tuesday.

clayre · 16/09/2010 12:39

Just arrived and still waiting on pinafore but the cardi and blouses are good!

pooka · 16/09/2010 13:11

A cardigan and pair of girl's trousers just arrived.

Waiting on the polo shirt.

DD at school now, but will try on her tonight.

Initial thoughts:

I think she'll love the cardigan - is round necked, with 3 buttons. Swing-style, with slightly bell shaped sleeves. She'll love because is different and "pretty". The fabric is 100% cotton and the colour (green) is a good depth of green - not too bright and not too sludgey.

Not sure about the trousers. My prob with school trousers for dd has been that she doesn't like high-waisters - like me she finds trousers round her middle uncomfortable. So has been a pain and a half sourcing trousers that she doesn't just hoick down under her tummy, leaviing volumes of fabric bunched under.

My initial feelings are that these will come too high up the waist. Also am not particularly keen on the fabric - quite thick jersey so not entirely legging-ish. But perhaps a tad too casual for smart appearance. Should be plenty warm enough though - way more than the horribly thin acrylic/teflon trousers sold in the school shop and other stores. The best rrousers I've ever found for her came from John Lewis, and I'll get her to try on both tonight to compare.

aristocat · 16/09/2010 14:33

Sad i have nothing yet either

NoahAndTheWhale · 16/09/2010 14:41

Nothing here either :(

TitsalinaBumSquash · 16/09/2010 14:45

Got mine today.

Initial thoughts.

They are great, i had asked for adjustable waist trousers but the elasticated waist seems to be fine on DS he is 6 but i got 4-5.

The shirts are just what i need, plain, simple shirts that are cheap to buy but don't look overly cheap.

The Jumper is again cheap to buy but doesn't look any cheaper than the plain ones i got from M&S, it is a good size.

frogs · 16/09/2010 14:48

Have received the cardigan and a pack of shirts, the pinafore is apparently still on its way.

Initial thoughts -- shirts are plain, sensible, long enough to keep tucked in, no silly fashiony embroidery or any other fancy business. Fabric feels robust, at least as good as M&S polycotton school shirts. A more cottony feel would be a bonus.

Cardigan: nice and soft, pale grey colour, quite like the scalloped edges. Again nice that it doesn't have any other fashion-y detail. Fabric feels a bit thin, definitely less robust than the M&S cotton cardigans. Am a bit sceptical about how well it will wear -- we inherited a couple of Asda cardigans in this style in her current size as well as some M&S ones. The M&S ones still look fine after 2-3 years of wear, the Asda ones look like dishrags. I will reserve judgement, but slightly tougher-feeling fabric would be good.

tibni · 16/09/2010 18:59

Nothing arrived yet.

CherryChapstick · 16/09/2010 19:39

Have received the cardigan and skirt, shirt is on it's way.

The cardigan is really good quality. It seems to be very well made and is too good for school! £7 is really cheap for this garment.

The skirt is black and I am sure I specified charcoal grey, so this will not be used for school as non regulation. DD tried it on and is very big on her, sized as age 14, she is 14 1/2 and average size. Although it is the wrong item for my DD the skirt is also well made. It is a very nice fabric. £7 is roughly what I would expect to pay for a school skirt.

Thanks George.

LostArt · 16/09/2010 22:05

Received trousers and jumper today, the shirts are on their way.

The pack came just at the right time - DS came home fifthly from school today, so he can wear the new uniform tomorrow rather than me doing a panic wash tonight.

The jumper seems good quality but rather thin, which isn't a bad thing as the school is so hot. I'm very impressed with the quality of the trousers, they look much better than the brand i usually get. The true test will come tomorrow - if they survive Fridays extended outside play they will be doing well.

siblingrivalry · 17/09/2010 08:19

Nothing arrived here yet.

serenity · 17/09/2010 11:04

We've had the trousers and jumper, but not the shirt.

They look fine. Weak points I've noticed in the past (hems on trousers, and the stitching on the V of the jumper) seem pretty robust. There wasn't any point in putting them on him today (plus I have to take up the trousers a little bit) so DS will wear them on Monday Smile
