drug dependant baby, advice needed

EarthMotherImNot · 03/03/2010 15:20

I've been asked to foster a baby expected to be suffering drug withdrawal when it is born next week.

It is years since I've cared for one of these and any advice would be most gratefully received.

This post just about broke my heart. What a wonderful woman you were EMIN. And to think there is a beautiful little girl out there who is thriving all thanks to the love and dedication of you and your DH.

I have just come across this tread too, and began reading as I am an adoptive parent whose lo was with foster parents for their first year. What a wonderful person EMIN was. Sobbed through the end of it. RIP.

Such an inspiration.
It's people like EMIN who show the rest of us, how to be the best we can be.
Thank you

Came across this thread not really knowing what to expect, what an incredibly kind, funny and generous women. Heartbroken for your family, your legacy is all those children who you so selflessly took care of and loved 💜

Oh EMIN, so sorry I missed reading about your passing. I remember this thread from when you had the baby, I didn’t see the updates. I hope your family take comfort in how much your love showed to everyone and how much you have that little girl a head start in life. You are a wonderful person, I can’t write “were”. I can’t believe this thread popped up today.
EMIN you are wonderful and I hope your lovely DH and family are doing ok. Somewhere on MN are parents who are parents today because of you x

I do too...Isn't it strange that one person's innate humility and love shines through the years in our memories.

Emin is a loving Soul. 👼

A lovely child I knew years ago with a severely addicted mother {Now RIP} and a father ditto is now a Professional person working with vulnerable people like they once were.

These children with guidance, their own fortitude ands a lot of luck can heal from less than ideal childhoods, and break the cycle of desperation.

All power to them. 💕

Sorry humanity NOT vanity. Really sorry about that mistake

Sarapq2 · 22/01/2021 19:01

Hi.
Ex NICU nurse here .
I used to swaddle them , a lot of cuddles , they will feed and feed and be sick and carry on.
It's very hard work , depending on serveriry bsby will stay in NICU till ready for discharge

It could be a lengthy process and baby may need a medical detox .

As I recall, there was another thread announcing Emin's death. I think it was started by her daughter - her daughter certainly posted on it. It turned into a long tribute thread.

The Tribute thread is long gone - in those days threads in Chat were removed after 3 months - but her family certainly knew about them.

covilha · 22/01/2021 19:04

Beautiful, inspirational lady. RIP
