Boots refusing to sell canesten to men! Wtf!

Dh went to boots to buy canesten today and the sales person refused to sell it to him as he was a man! Apparently the pharmacist stepped in and he bought it.
Wtf? Surely men can get thrush or could have been buying it for someone else. It's bonkers

I try to use vague but not strictly incorrect language with the chemist. Another good pet medicine is chloramphenicol eye drops, which are exactly the same for cats as for humans.

Last time my cat had an eye infection the vet said I'd save a fortune getting it from a human chemist.

"Can I get some chloramphenicol eye drops please, they're for Alice, my wee one. She's 12. Her clinician advised me to get her some"....

I was given the nth degree before being allowed Syndol (paracetamol/codeine) in Tesco because I gave an honest answer to do I take it regularly. Should have said no but was honest and said regularly but not frequently.

Other time was in a branch of Lloyds Pharmacy. Wanted two Otrivine sprays one for now and one for spare. Would only let me have one!!

But these are both important. If you have something that's causing sufficiently severe pain to require codeine regularly, it needs to be investigated. And you are not supposed to use alpha-agonist nasal sprays for more than 7 days (see thread on general health board), so you shouldn't have a spare.

Is there a difference between canestan sold by a pharmacist and the stuff sold on the supermarket shelves?

@Moro93 Because most male uti's are due to prostate issues (enlargement or infection), potential urethral defects (strictures etc) or Epididymo-orchitis - all of which need looking into by a GP. Also men generally need 7 days of antibiotics for infections of the urinary system and pharmacists are only able to offer 3 days
