Boots refusing to sell canesten to men! Wtf!

Dh went to boots to buy canesten today and the sales person refused to sell it to him as he was a man! Apparently the pharmacist stepped in and he bought it.
Wtf? Surely men can get thrush or could have been buying it for someone else. It's bonkers
Apparently she said it was a boots policy!

This careful distinction between animal and human medications can run in the other direction; I was once on holday for five days on Jersey and on the first morning my eight-year-old son had the high fever and all the symptoms of a condition he'd had before. I knew exactly what would bring the fever down and make him feel better, but at that time the Channel Islands were not interested in the NHS, and there was no way I could get it for him.

Luckily one of the other people I was in the hotel with was a vet, had come straight from work, and had the identical medicine in her bag. She worked out that he needed about a third the dose for an adult female goat, and told me never to tell anyone she had given me two days' worth of it. (So I haven't, and you didn't see me, and you can't prove anything.)

We have a Michael (well Mick) among the many, many Steves. I've never had thrush, or a millipede, but I have had to use canestan on a hen.

My hen had a fungal infection of her vent. Poor thing, it made her feathers fall out and everything. There is only one vet here, and he's useless with poultry (charged me £35 to be told he didn't really do birds, but he could ask his mate if I wanted). Referring to my Big Farm Book told me that if she has been wormed (she had) and there was no bullying (there wasn't) then the problem was likely fungal.

Massaging Canestan into a hen's vent isn't a lovely experience and the hen really objects, but this one is very gentle and didn't hold a grudge. For long. She got better quickly though, so everyone was happy in the end.

I lead a life of proper, full-on glamour and sophistication.

Going upstairs to use the loo is one thing - going for a good old nose in adult bedrooms is quite another. If I suspected that, I’d put a lock on the door.

So that's how Dave hurt his leg - running up and down the stairs, being a peeping Dave nosey devil!

I'm going to have to read the other thread to see if a random post about Millipedes is on there. 'Mils' getting mixed up lol.
