I bloody love a nice hotel. What is your favourite hotel you’ve stayed in?

Mine would be:
Crowne Plaza Changi (Singapore) and got upgraded to the roof terrace suite. Absolutely loved it.
The Langham Hong Kong and stayed in the junior suite!

Le Tousserok in Mauritius. Service was amazing.
Also, the Waldorf Astoria in Ras Al Khaimah.

sergeilavrov · 06/07/2021 22:51

Qasr al Sarab in the UAE; Palacio Duhau in Buenos Aires; Hotel Metropol in Moscow; Quy Nhon Villas in Vietnam.

I've booked my family in to Mardan Palace for the end of a business trip soon, hoping it's as beautiful as people say.

Gleneagles. It’s 20 mins up the road and it’s the place I have celebrated most major life occasions.
Renaissance St Pancras. Thanks to Marriott points my go to in London.
Three Chimneys on Skye. My favourite place on earth.
Punta Tragara Capri. I had no idea how lucky I was to stay here years ago.

AmperoBlue · 06/07/2021 22:53

My favourite is the Marriott at Twickenham. It’s part of the stadium so the best rooms have a view of the pitch. Never stayed in those but I’ve done various suites which vary in quality
The absolutely best bit is the players stay there too. You are always bumping into famous players and often they’ll be having breakfast or sharing a lift with you.

In Europe it’s the Hotel Welcome on the French Riviera. The view from the balcony is fantastic and it’s just so, well, French. We get a Christmas card from them now!

Fairmount hotel Banff Canada in the snow.
Savoy London amazing
Shelbourne hotel Dublin top class

Marina Bay Sands - Singapore. We actually had an apartment in Siglap, nr East Coast Park, but we stayed at MBS for two nights as a once in a lifetime treat. Obviously the infinity pool was the biggest draw, but the whole hotel experience was amazing. Second best was a quite rough and basic hotel in Slovenia in the late 90’s (I can’t remember the name and have tried to find it but can’t work it out now, it might not be there or most likely has changed hands) but, and this key, it was next to Lake Bled, in the winter, snow everywhere and the lake was frozen. Utterly stunning.

Roda Al Bustan in Dubai, Amari Boulevard in Bangkok, The Versace Palazzo Hotel on the Gold Coast Australia (featured on I’m a Celebrity apparently, I don’t watch it) but the icing on top of the cake was the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. The infinity pool, 57 floors up was amazing!

The Oberoi, Mauritius
Palazzo Stern, Venice
Gleneagles, Scotland

I love the Kimpton Everley in LA

GottaPickaPocketorTwo · 06/07/2021 22:59

I agree with Al Bustan Palace (Muscat), Coco Island (Maldives) and Le Manoir (Oxfordshire).

I will add in Le Chèvre D'Or in Eze, on the French Riviera - high up in a mountain village over looking the Med, amazing restaurant, rooms and views - truly amazing!

The banyan tree Phukett is amazing but for its wow factor rainforest location Borneo Hylands resort in Borneo. Also loved Las Calebros ranch in Arizona

La Mamounia Hotel in Marrakesh. It was ages ago though.

Travielkapelka · 06/07/2021 23:05

Santorini grace. Totally casual utter luxury
Shangri La Chaing Mai

billysboy · 06/07/2021 23:05

I have been lucky enough to stay in a few top end places but luxury does not always equate to a great time

The best times in great places have been in Fregate Island Seychelles, Eagles Nest Val D’Isere, Cipriani in Venice but best of all has to be Ashford Castle in Ireland a proper 5 star Hotel oozing luxury but the most welcoming and down to earth staff who are all happy to have the Craic with you , priceless

SofiaMichelle · 06/07/2021 23:07

I've stayed at Crowne Plaza Changi, OP! Only 6hrs and no upgrade for me, though.

My favourite ones, I think...

Cordis - Shanghai
Grand Hyatt - Oman
Meridien - Kuala Lumpur
Sofitel - London St James'

Interesting thread - I must have stayed at hundreds of hotels over many years on business all over the world but the above ones stick in my mind.

Caley Hall Hotel, Old Hunstanton, Norfolk.
Lovely setting, good quality rooms and great food. Smile
Lots of good places to visit nearby, including the beach, Lestrange Barns, and the rest of the north Norfolk coast.

Eaumyword · 06/07/2021 23:10

I miss fancy hotels! Not just Covid, it's just too expensive and less stylish with a teenage DS in your room!Grin
Faves were:
Ritz Carlton, New York
Le Saint Geran, Mauritius
Table Bay, Cape Town
Vdara, Vegas
Ulasaba, Kruger, SA

Ratonastick · 06/07/2021 23:10

Mandarin Oriental in Geneva. I had to stand in at a meeting for my boss’s boss at the last minute so I got his hotel reservation too. It was glorious. I could do laps of the bath and ate the fruit basket for breakfast! Much better than the flea pit down the road that I stayed in for my own meetings.

And the Wagner in New York because it overlooked the Statue of Liberty and there was a telescope in the room. It was like having a private viewing platform.

GolfEchoRomeoTangoIndia · 06/07/2021 23:11

Placemarking but my personal pick would be Treetops in Kenya. The rooms aren’t much cop but the wildlife and general ambience is phenomenal.

Hairbrush123 · 06/07/2021 23:14

I’m glad I’ve inspired so many people! I really miss travelling and can’t wait to resume my travels once it’s safe to do so. So many gorgeous hotels! I am having hotel envy tonight!

The Bellagio in Las Vegas was wonderful and a surprising entry - DoubleTree by Hilton Hull. Absolutely gorgeous room, impeccable service and good location for the city centre. By far my favourite Hilton.

I’ve stayed there in Eze too! I prefer the Welcome for the town but it’s definitely a fabulous hotel.

The New Yorker in Manhattan. Beautiful Art Deco hotel.
Loved it so much I’ve been there three times

42 The Calls in Leeds used to be fantastic a couple of decades ago. Slowly went downhill but is being refurbished now so hoping it will be great again when it's done.

Haymarket Hotel in London (I really like all the Firmdale ones I've stayed in, but this one the most because of the pool).

Bangkok Oriental, Bangkok - all the luxuries and really fantastic staff, right on the river.
