I bloody love a nice hotel. What is your favourite hotel you’ve stayed in?

Mine would be:
Crowne Plaza Changi (Singapore) and got upgraded to the roof terrace suite. Absolutely loved it.
The Langham Hong Kong and stayed in the junior suite!

The Brunelleschi Florence.
The Buckingham Hotel Chicago: it's on the 40th floor above the Chicago stock exchange. Fantastic views and peaceful after the bustle.
The flamingo las Vegas.
Temple lodgings in nagano Japan: not palatial but an experience.
A cabin at the Grand Canyon.

@bassackwards

Ooh I'm glad to see an endorsement for the Langham above. Am heading there tomorrow!
Oooh has it reopened? I last went there years ago for afternoon tea with my kids, but it feels like it's been under renovation forever.

Oh, to travel again!

Favourites include:

La Colombe d’Or - Saint Paul de Vence, France, perfect artistic escape for a couple

Ikos Olivia - Greece, for a fabulous family holiday with a baby and 3 year old

Rudding Park - Harrogate - wonderful spa hotel. As close as I’ve got to escaping since March 2020!

Keep them all coming! One day we’ll be free again to travel 😘

Ooh how could I forget Sveti Stefan in Montenegro! A truly unique hotel even before it was done up and made inaccessible to mere mortals.

Ooh lots of mentions for Banyan Tree Phuket. Not been there but Banyan Tree Samui was fantastic.

Would like Nam Hai to be our first big post pandemic holiday.

Recent stays that have been fab: Monaci delle terre nere in Sicily. Gorgeous architecture and setting. Discovery Bedu camp in Wadi Rum — not exactly a hotel but out of this world glamping.

These aren't necessarily the most luxe or expensive I've stayed in, although they're pretty damn luxe and expensive, but they're places where I had particularly memorable stays:

The Conrad, Hong Kong

The Four Seasons, New York

The Four Seasons, Disneyworld Florida (yes, really! Amazing)

Wonderful place in the Maldives but I can't remember the name

movingadviceneeded · 06/07/2021 23:29

Wapa Di Ume in Ubud, Bali. I've never felt so relaxed in my life. We were upgraded to a villa with a pool and I could have happily lived there forever.

@LemonRoses

Would love to hear your favourites.

LadyofMisrule · 06/07/2021 23:35

Another vote for Burgh Island.
The Peninsula in Hong Kong was quite something.

AngeloMysterioso · 06/07/2021 23:40

Shangri La Boracay in the Philippines

GuineaP1g · 06/07/2021 23:42

Animal Kingdom Lodge at Disney World is hard to beat. Waking up to giraffes outside our room never gets old.

Also we love the Polynesian and Grand Floridian there too.

Tokyo Disneyland Hotel Miracosta is something VERY special too.

Was a while ago now and reviews don't seem as good anymore but we loved Turtle Bay Resort on Oahu.

The W in NYC we loved.

I love Al Qasr in Dubai but DH hates Dubai so doubt I'll get back.

Closer to home another vote for The Balmoral and also I have a real soft spot for Celtic Manor as used to have to go a lot as a child (golfing family)

DaphneDeloresMoorhead · 06/07/2021 23:42

We stayed in a suite at the Crillon. Pretty magical

Burgs island in Devon

GordonsAliveAndEatsPies · 06/07/2021 23:43

Grand Hotel du Cap-Ferrat or Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok. I also have very fond memories of the Penang Mutiara but it’s closed now..

pigeonhole · 06/07/2021 23:44

The hill club hotel , Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka

stormsurfer · 06/07/2021 23:46

Raffles, Singapore
Galle Face, Colombo,
Movenpick, Dead Sea, Jordan
Gleneagles, Scotland

TeardropsFallingOnHotSand · 06/07/2021 23:46

Arriving at the Wengener Hof late at night concealed the view until I opened the curtains at sunrise the following morning. It was spectacular looking at the deep mountain valley spread out before me and the snow peaks glinting in the sun. It was mid Summer and the valley was green and lush.

Leela Palace, Bangalore.
Governors Camp, Masai Mara, Kenya.

Both wow.

PrancerandDancer · 06/07/2021 23:46

The Corinthia in Budapest was wonderful. Stayed in the Prague one the year after but wasn't as good! Doubt we'd ever afford the one in London 😂

Have just bookmarked Monachi Delle Terre Nere - hoping to go back to Sicily in summer 2022 and this place looks fab. Thanks @sd352
Wineat5isfine · 06/07/2021 23:48

Oh my goodness, I miss travelling!!

In no particular order…

The Sunborn Yacht - London
The Connaught - London
Chiltern Firehouse - London
Crazy Bear / Stadhampton
Movenpick El Gouna - Egypt
Bandos - Maldives
Secret Bay - Dominica
Crocodile Island - Egypt
Blue Palace - Elounda

So many more on my bucket list though. Would highly recommend any of the above!

GordonsAliveAndEatsPies · 06/07/2021 23:49

@stormsurfer yes gleneagles. Heading up in a month or so for the nth time - take it for granted. Stupid really

PosyBoo · 06/07/2021 23:54

Any Four Seasons hotel!!

Breastfeedingworries · 06/07/2021 23:54

I’m shamelessly place marking so I have ideas!

babbi · 06/07/2021 23:55

Bursewood in Perth Australia .

Lots with work - I’ve been lucky .

Wherearemymarbles · 07/07/2021 00:01

Some of these we stayed at decades ago:
Emerson and Green Stone town. Massive beautiful room at the top. External walls were nothing more than trellis with thick curtains. The view and sound. Never forget it

La petit ferme, top of the fransccheok valley, not really a hotel but stunning views and great food

Sharrow Bay, Ullswater - when it was still owned by Brian Sack / Francis Coulson

Am amazing place in Umbria. Large natural terrace outside our room was stunning with wild flowers and abundant wild strawberries. You ordered dinner in the afternoon and the owner and his wife cooked it. Probably best Italian home cooking we ever had. Cant for the life of me remember the name

Manoir

Various other smaller places - never really enjoyed large 5 star type hotels
