I bloody love a nice hotel. What is your favourite hotel you’ve stayed in?

Mine would be:
Crowne Plaza Changi (Singapore) and got upgraded to the roof terrace suite. Absolutely loved it.
The Langham Hong Kong and stayed in the junior suite!

@FiddlefigOnTheRoof

No one has said Schloss Elmau!
Is that the one that Giles Coren and Monica Galetti went to that had the classical music performances?
Mother87 · 07/07/2021 00:06

Soneva Gili in The Maldives was spectacular (it's renamed now I think) and Reethi Rah in The Maldives... and The Shangri-La in Singapore (a special place in my heart for sentimental reasons with DF - and it's just LOVELY)

Mother87 · 07/07/2021 00:07

And Ulusaba in Kruger National Park - breathtaking...

Stormer · 07/07/2021 00:07

@Wineat5isfine you just gave me the name of the Maldives hotel I mentioned in my earlier post (the name of which I couldn't remember): Bandos! That was it. Great hotel.

The Burlington in Birmingham, a beautiful old fashioned posh hotel. I have never stayed anywhere other than a P & O cruise where I have been so well looked after, the places to eat were amazing, the rooms were massive & had everything you could ever want, big fluffy towels, bathrobes, top end toiletries. You only had to step out the front of the hotel & you were in the main shopping centre, 5 minutes walk to the Mailbox centre. The first time we went it was December & we went to the big Christmas Market & the Food & Drink show, the hotel was beautifully decorated including a small tree in our room, the second time it was valentines weekend & we got upgraded to a suite, it was out of this world & we had a lounge with a dining table, one night we had dinner brought to our room, the service was impeccable.

Jardins Do Lago, Funchal, Madeira.

A peaceful, relaxing hotel.

GintyMcGinty · 07/07/2021 00:22

Mayflower Hotel in Washington

Beyond luxurious and glamourous.

Jaminglish · 07/07/2021 00:31

Cavo Tagoo, Santorini

The Biltmore Hotel in Miami, it was built in the 1920's and is all Art Deco, which I just love. The scene in The Bad Boys where the girl is killed was filmed there. The pool is huge

The Rockcliffe Hotel in this country is definitely worth a mention.

Raffles in Singapore.

I have stayed in a lot of hotels in my time.

However I have come to believe the best place is my home.
A social housing flat on the second floor.
It is wonderfully quiet and we have the best cuisine.

Duck down duvet. Lovely.

Is that hotel part of the Macdonalds chain? It doesn’t sound like the same one...

Al Qasr - Dubai (the most comfortable beds ever! we stayed there for Christmas one year and it was amazing, I put on soooo much weight from the endless brunches)
Gleneagles
Shangri La Sydney

This thread is giving me life, I miss travel so much!

My favourites are

Royal Livingstone Victoria Falls

A lodge/camp in the Okavango Delta, I think it had Chief in the name but they’re all pretty special
Villa Sant Andrea in Sicily
Museum Hotel Cappadocia
Ashford Castle
Inis Meain suites

Toomuchspinning · 07/07/2021 01:10

Ahhh my kind of thread.

The Shangri La, Rasa Ria in Borneo.
The Shangri La Al Bustan in Oman
The Shangri La Rasa Sayang In Batu Ferringhi.

The W in Manhattan
The Wynn in Vegas

The Balmoral in Edinburgh
The NH in Madrid
The Luton Hoo

Toomuchspinning · 07/07/2021 01:11

Inarightpickleandpreserve · 07/07/2021 01:15

Le Sireneuse on Amalfi Coast

Toomuchspinning · 07/07/2021 01:19

@GordonsAliveAndEatsPies

Ahhhh the Mutiara. Overgrown and taken back by the jungle, when last I saw it.

I’m still not convinced a Hard Rock should be in B. ferringhi though.

Essence Hanoi Hotel and Spa, in the old quarter. Such luxury and incredible customer service at a ridiculously cheap price. Best holiday I've ever had.

FaceyRomford · 07/07/2021 02:26

Pen-y-Dyfren, just outside Oswestry.

Ahhh.....the last hotel we stayed in on our last holiday before all travel restrictions started; wonderful memories! I like, so many miss others, travel so much and had several trips cancelled over the last 18 months including some to hotels mentioned in this thread. Hopefully we can all travel again soon.
Cavalierqueen · 07/07/2021 05:55

Lighthouse Galle in Sri Lanka, Four Seasons Doha, Premier Inn at World Trade Centre Dubai. Yes its a premier inn compared to the usual 5. Stars but it's a welcome rest from the fuss of the rest of Dubai.

Medhufushi Maldives- complete bliss
I am literally there right now this minute!
FiddlefigOnTheRoof · 07/07/2021 06:12

@HaveringWavering yes! We skipped the performances though. It has beautiful beautiful views from all directions, the service - my god (my child was potty training and had an accident in one of the foyer spaces - I apologised my face off but to have someone deal with that sweetly in Germany was refreshing, cold streams for dips, etc.
