To go round?

We pay a company to clean our bins once a month on bin day. I’m not usually home when they come, but I’m off work today And happened to be in the kitchen. I watched my next door neighbour wait until the cleaner left, take the house number sticker off my bin and put it on his, then swap our bin for his so he had the cleaned bin and I had a non-cleaned one.

He was back in his house before I had time to contain the dog and go outside but now DH is home, WIBU to go round and ask for my bin back??

That is shocking!!! What a cheeky bastard

Tambora · 28/06/2021 21:03

Your DH is a star!

Fiddliestofsticks · 28/06/2021 21:05

I kind of love that he's so proud of himself that he's off to activate the small town phone tree!

Very glad your stolen bin is home; best get painting. I'd go with a number on the side facing the road and "this isnt your bin, (insert bin thief's name)" on the side they'd see from their window.

@JackieWeaversAuthorityHere

DH currently on the phone to my mum and dad recounting his glorious victory... so that will be the entire town fully informed by tomorrow breakfast. You don’t need the local papers round here, it’s one of those everybody knows everybody sort of places.
I hope the news of this spreads so much that your NDN and local councillor attracts all the attention he deserves for this nonsense.
Dannn · 28/06/2021 21:06

This is fantastic

Livpool · 28/06/2021 21:07

Love your DH too OP - fantastic result

LakieLady · 28/06/2021 21:09

Kudos to your DH, OP - what a star!

Brilliant outcome, I love it when a CF is forced to admit to the error of their ways.

mommybear1 · 28/06/2021 21:10

Oh well done jackieweavers DH 🙌🏻

Catsrus · 28/06/2021 21:10

OMG - I never knew about this - have just moved and the existing bins (rubbish and recycling) in my new place are both pretty rank - a little research after reading this thread and YES, there is a local bin cleaning service.....

Tulipomania · 28/06/2021 21:10

Great story!

Oldraver · 28/06/2021 21:11

Our next door neighbour took our cleaned bin and stuck a full bin bag in it before I found it.

I mean the cleaner puts a liner in so it's like they could not see it.

Dont know how they got it as bin cleaner usually takes it from the roadside and puts it back down our drive

ShirleyDab · 28/06/2021 21:11

Give your DH a gold star. In fact give him hundreds Star and stick them all over your bin as a lovely tribute. Star Grin Star Star Star

haveibeencaughtout · 28/06/2021 21:12

Yay! Love your DH!

viques · 28/06/2021 21:13

Great update. Never doubt that teaching doesn’t instil you with transferable skills!

A question here for Councillor DirtyBinTricks, if the bins belong to the council why do you go to the trouble of putting your house number on yours?( And on other people’s bins. )

TokyoSushi · 28/06/2021 21:13

🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳

BlueLobelia · 28/06/2021 21:15

One of my colleagues gets her wheelie bin cleaned every month- but it costs £42 apparently. I thought that was mega nuts.

Well done OP and OP DH.

(Now if you could sort out the CF who parks half blocking my drive in her fucking BMW from Tuesdays-Saturdays please.... )

godmum56 · 28/06/2021 21:15

@LittleMissNaice

I think you need to email the chair and clarify council policy regarding bin ownership ...
mega!

He'll be dining out on that story for the rest of the year. Hilarious.

Really shows the character of the man. CF.
