To go round?

We pay a company to clean our bins once a month on bin day. I’m not usually home when they come, but I’m off work today And happened to be in the kitchen. I watched my next door neighbour wait until the cleaner left, take the house number sticker off my bin and put it on his, then swap our bin for his so he had the cleaned bin and I had a non-cleaned one.

He was back in his house before I had time to contain the dog and go outside but now DH is home, WIBU to go round and ask for my bin back??

I'd be dead petty and email the council to report him. Shame you haven't got a ring doorbell

FakeColinCaterpillar · 28/06/2021 20:55

Victory. Definitely paint your number on so he can’t play silly buggers again.
We had a neighbour who swopped our cleanish bin with their dirty one. So we swopped it back when ours was really awful and put our number on permanently.

BigRedDuck · 28/06/2021 20:55

Of course he's a tory Councillor 😂🤣😂🤣😂

maslinpan · 28/06/2021 20:55

Now get your paintbrush out and put your house number on the bin as big as possible.

Babygotblueyes · 28/06/2021 20:56

I will sleep peacefully tonight knowing all is right in the world. Props to you both, big time. And FU to binstealer and his wife.

Congressdingo · 28/06/2021 20:56

@Oysterbabe

I just can't believe people pay to have their bin cleaned.
I would I just cant afford it at the moment. But then I throw the cat litter straight in, never have enough strong bags for it. Plus surely it's better to clean it a few times rather than use yet more plastic.
DartmoorDoughnut · 28/06/2021 20:56

I love it when people actually stop CFers Grin

Ourlady · 28/06/2021 20:56

This is brilliant OP. What a hoot!

PixieKitten · 28/06/2021 20:56

Local paper would love to hear about a councilor doing this!

Iluvfriends · 28/06/2021 20:57

I can't believe they actually tried to defend their actions and turn it round on your hubby for being unreasonable.

Name and shame him for his cheek.

eatthepineapple · 28/06/2021 20:57

Amazing! Love the marigolds comment. Go your DH!!

gelatodipistacchio · 28/06/2021 20:57

Placemarking

Confusedandshaken · 28/06/2021 20:57

People are weird. One set of neighbours has often taken one of our bins. I normally just go round and take them back the following week. They even took the garden waste bin. That was completely pointless because a) they are free on request from the council, b) they only get emptied if you pay an annual subscription and most of all c) their garden is paved and astroturfed with not a blade of grass or leaf in sight. They have gone to the trouble of removing and hiding a sodding great wheelie bin that they have no use for.

Yes! You MUST start practicing your compo face!
EmbarrassingAdmissions · 28/06/2021 20:58

Your DH is the influencer and hunter gatherer we all need in these stressful times.

KarlUrbansWife · 28/06/2021 20:58

@Schrutesbeets

Give that man a blow job! 👏🏼
Hahaha, he's earned it! Amazing update! They won't mess with you again.
PinkCast · 28/06/2021 20:58

I think I love your DH too - what a hero Grin

Get your marigolds love - you've pulled a dirty bin

Bloodylovecheese · 28/06/2021 20:58

This thread has cheered me up no end. At last someone with balls tackling a problem head on. Great job Grin

bigeyedfrog · 28/06/2021 20:58

I'd probably email the council and check if you 'own' your bin for any future conversations on the subject. Our council charges £30 a wheelie bin so I'd bloody well hope I owned it after that!

RogueMnerHidesUnderABigHat · 28/06/2021 20:59

Fabulous result.

But this one is soooooooo ending up in the daily fail!

MrsMackesy · 28/06/2021 20:59

What did he say about swapping the stickers over - did DH challenge him about that bit?

DogInATent · 28/06/2021 21:00

A bit of wheelie binjazzling is required to really rub it in, I think.

Maybe a solar panel on the top and wrap the bin with a blinky LED light string and illuminated house number?

simonisnotme · 28/06/2021 21:00

your DH is awesome

JackieWeaversAuthorityHere · 28/06/2021 21:02

DH currently on the phone to my mum and dad recounting his glorious victory... so that will be the entire town fully informed by tomorrow breakfast. You don’t need the local papers round here, it’s one of those everybody knows everybody sort of places.

Iwantamarshmallowman · 28/06/2021 21:02

I used to work in the waste and recycling team. Our local council charges up to £50 for a missing bin and it is very much considered stealing. I'm pritty sure this guy could get into serious hot water if you complained. Its a shame u didnt film it.
