We pay a company to clean our bins once a month on bin day. I’m not usually home when they come, but I’m off work today And happened to be in the kitchen. I watched my next door neighbour wait until the cleaner left, take the house number sticker off my bin and put it on his, then swap our bin for his so he had the cleaned bin and I had a non-cleaned one.

He was back in his house before I had time to contain the dog and go outside but now DH is home, WIBU to go round and ask for my bin back??

I am loving the image of your husband swelling with pride and telling everyone lol

Matron 😱

May I be the first to suggest that this glorious little thread belongs in Classics? Grin

bellocchild · 29/06/2021 18:34

Please email this to your local paper? It's what they love, with him a councillor too!

@JackieWeaversAuthorityHere
The Ultimate Guide to Painting a Wheelie Bin

It does start off with you should only paint a bin if you own it though!

Omletteforbreakfast · 29/06/2021 18:39

Well done OP and OPDH! Can't wait for next month to see if they try it again and to hear about the local grapevine reaction

LittleMissPlant · 29/06/2021 18:39

I’d be straight round there asking him what his problem is.
I’d also be threatening to tell the council if he’s a councillor

Twofingers · 29/06/2021 18:41

Paint socialist slogans on both bins - neither of them belong to him as he pointed out

Zilla1 · 29/06/2021 18:43

I wonder if it's too late for the cleaning company to post an invoice for a few week's cleaning as they've had a complaint from a customer and after checking with their workers, they think this has happened before?

Scarriff · 29/06/2021 18:45

Aren't we going to know what happened?

NoAuthorityAtAll · 29/06/2021 18:47

It’s a very long time since a thread on MN has made me properly lol, @JackieWeaversAuthorityHere … in fact, I’d given up on it happening again, as the place seems to have changed a lot in the past couple of years. Your posts did, though, and I salute the triumphal return of your bin and your heroic DH!

AwaAnBileYerHeid · 29/06/2021 18:47

F him. Go round and confront him. But not after you've filmed him doing it.

AwaAnBileYerHeid · 29/06/2021 18:47

What a bloody weasel!!!

Garraty47 · 29/06/2021 18:48

Ah, the kindness and integrity of a Tory councillor. Grin

karalou2 · 29/06/2021 18:50

Contain the dog? You should've taken it with you! I'd name and shame the prat on social media too. If this is the type of person he is, others should be warned!

MissConductUS · 29/06/2021 18:53

I love all of the bin drama on MN. Grin

goldengrove · 29/06/2021 18:55

I love this thread!! Well done Mr Weaver, well done Mrs Weaver, well done damp smelling farty dog.

Please do bring down that slimy two-faced Tory councillor by whatever means possible! Public ridicule is usually pretty effective. Don't underestimate the thickness of his skin though....

Battytwatty · 29/06/2021 19:05

@mylifestory. Try reading the whole thread, The OP updated ages ago 🙄

Margerine78 · 29/06/2021 19:11

@Darkstar4855

If he’s a councillor then I’d wait and film him the next time he does it and post the footage on facebook.
LOVE THIS! I was about to say something similar, a little bit of social media shaming. What a dick!
3scape · 29/06/2021 19:13

Missing a trick. It sounds like it's worth somehow raising a question (or getting a friend to) about bin ownership at a councillors meeting or public event .... just leave it until he thinks everyone has stopped gossiping about it.

bemusedmoose · 29/06/2021 19:13

Tell the git you saw him and you also have footage of it (I'm sure there are ring door bells around that could have caught him) and you want it back ASAP or you will use the footage.

I didn't even know people got bin cleaners in - i just wash mine out with the hose!

Noshowlomo · 29/06/2021 19:24

Loved this thread

ejhhhhh · 29/06/2021 19:28

Great thread, thanks OP! You want acrylic paint for that kind of job. You can get acrylic paint pens that are quite good for that job (used one myself on our bins).

IARTNS · 29/06/2021 19:38

This thread has it all, although I'm sulking as I'm now googling wheelie bin cleaners and it doesn't seem to be something offered where I live Sad

BarbaraofSeville · 29/06/2021 19:40

Well done OPs DH. Most people would be too afraid of the confrontation to say anything.

Am I the only one here who has never cleaned or had cleaned her wheelie bin

No. Ours have never been cleaned. I've never seen the need. They're bins, no-one expects them to be spotless and if you don't put your head inside it, the smell's not an issue either.

We have 3. Green bin. Only takes cardboard, cans, plastic, so doesn't really get dirty.

Brown bin. Garden waste. Has a bit of grass stuck inside it, but so what?

Black bin. Non recyclable waste that goes for incineration. Most things go in bin bags out of the kitchen bin. It's a bit dusty in there but doesn't bother me enough that I'd hand out actual to money to someone to clean it.

But if I was paying someone to clean it, I'd not be happy that I was effectively paying for CF to have theirs done instead. Astonished at the nerve of some people.
