To go round?

We pay a company to clean our bins once a month on bin day. I’m not usually home when they come, but I’m off work today And happened to be in the kitchen. I watched my next door neighbour wait until the cleaner left, take the house number sticker off my bin and put it on his, then swap our bin for his so he had the cleaned bin and I had a non-cleaned one.

He was back in his house before I had time to contain the dog and go outside but now DH is home, WIBU to go round and ask for my bin back??

I can help with this, OP, as I became the proud owner of a brand new green wheelie bin this week. She is shiny and perfect and has beautiful gold lettering. Anyway, not only did I hide it in the back garden until I could get new bin numbers, I also noticed it has a serial number stamped on the side. So I have taken a photo of my beautiful bin, with serial number and house number sticker both visible. And I shall confront any bin thieves with photographic evidence she is MINE.... all mine....

billybear · 28/06/2021 22:56

words fail me,the cheek of it go round report back please

londonscalling · 28/06/2021 22:57

I don't think I would paint your house number on your bin in big letters. I'd be tempted to write it on somewhere discreet, in very small letters, with a Sharpie. That way you can catch your neighbour out if they do it again!

Fiddliestofsticks · 28/06/2021 22:58

Seriously?

Did you know there is now a handy little button to "sell all" of the posts by the OP? Go give it a try.

londonscalling · 28/06/2021 22:59

Let's hope the Daily Fail run this story!

Fiddliestofsticks · 28/06/2021 23:00

Sell all?!?

*See all!!!

Kona84 · 28/06/2021 23:04

Maybe he switched the bin numbers before the cleaners came so they cleaned his bin instead then he swapped it back

Dizzy1234 · 28/06/2021 23:05

@JackieWeaversAuthorityHere

DH currently on the phone to my mum and dad recounting his glorious victory... so that will be the entire town fully informed by tomorrow breakfast. You don’t need the local papers round here, it’s one of those everybody knows everybody sort of places.
I love your DH, he single handedly took on the CF bin stealer then phoned his mum to recount his glorious victory 😂 absolutely loved this thread ❤️
Sproutpie · 28/06/2021 23:06

I love your DH and your dog 😍

Zzelda · 28/06/2021 23:08

We’ve barely spoken to NDN’s but we were warned when we moved in to keep our drive weed-free and our windows clean because NDN would be round to complain if he thought the street was looking ‘shabby’. He’s THAT guy.

How perfect. He daren't complain to you ever again, because you now have the perfect comeback. "There may be weeds in our drive but at least we don't steal other people's bins".

warmandtoasty2day · 28/06/2021 23:12

Brilliant thread Jackie i'd get a lock on that lovely bin of yours.

youshouldbeplotting · 28/06/2021 23:22

Top thread OP, really made me laugh.

HalzTangz · 28/06/2021 23:26

I would email the council and ask them is it correct neighbours can take your bins.

I bet they reply no.

Then shove the email in his face

WordInYourShellLike · 28/06/2021 23:32

What an absolutely awesome thread! I just been reading it out to my DP and it's given us a much needed laugh - thanks JackieWeaversAuthority!

BashfulClam · 28/06/2021 23:35

When we moved into our new build we had to isy for our bin so nope they are not council properly. £30 for then main bin and the other 3 came free, now new residents have to pay £30 each for all the bins.

Tulips15 · 28/06/2021 23:36

@Schrutesbeets

Give that man a blow job! 👏🏼
🤣🤣🤣🤣 Op, I cant believe your neighbour, what a CF!!
BackforGood · 28/06/2021 23:37

Excellent thread

.... but seriously, £9 to clean a bin ???

NowEvenBetter · 28/06/2021 23:45

Make a post on the local shitshow FB groups about ‘local tory scum councillor stealing residents property’! Ask his employer if he’s allowed to thieve, entitled trash like him need brought under control.

Totallydefeated · 28/06/2021 23:51

Satisfying thread, OP. Every bit as good as a juicy parking thread.

Your DH is a legend. I half fancy him, just from your description of his prowess at bin-recovery.

I'm SO hoping Councillor Bin-Thief is the talk of the town in the morning. Typical Tory morals.

gingerscot · 28/06/2021 23:52

We’re definitely going to need a photo of that dog…. 😍

Summerdayshaze · 29/06/2021 00:02

You have TOTAL authority here, Mr Weaver!

SlipperTripper · 29/06/2021 00:06

Get an answer from the local council, screenshot it, share it on the local Facebook page and tag BinTwat neighbour, with a jaunty message along the lines of 'I thought I'd clarify for you BinTwat but this is useful info for everyone. Have a great day!'

Peregrina · 29/06/2021 00:12

Another nomination for Classics - this is the best laugh I have had for ages.

Rosecottage888 · 29/06/2021 00:34

PerkingFaintly · 29/06/2021 00:36

I'm just here to enjoy the nominative determinism of JackieWeaversAuthorityHere tackling a misbehaving local councillor.

(OK, MrJackieWeaversAuthorityHere in the end. But what a result!)
