We pay a company to clean our bins once a month on bin day. I’m not usually home when they come, but I’m off work today And happened to be in the kitchen. I watched my next door neighbour wait until the cleaner left, take the house number sticker off my bin and put it on his, then swap our bin for his so he had the cleaned bin and I had a non-cleaned one.

He was back in his house before I had time to contain the dog and go outside but now DH is home, WIBU to go round and ask for my bin back??

DH’s retelling is getting more and more elaborate each time, but I don’t think he mentioned the stickers! DH says he turned up at the door, imposter-bin in hand and said ‘I think you’ve taken something that doesn’t belong to you’, at which point NDN launched into ‘well I think you’ll find it doesn’t belong to you either, bins are council property’, then DH said ‘so that means you can just steal our bin then does it?’ and it went on from there.

They ended up by the bins because DH said ‘I’ll be taking our bin back’ and that’s when NDN’s wife came out and said he wasn’t to go through the gate to get the bin. So DH went anyway and they both followed him.

NDN also warned DH not to scratch his car on his way past with the bin because if he did, he’d be paying for it Confused

We’ve barely spoken to NDN’s but we were warned when we moved in to keep our drive weed-free and our windows clean because NDN would be round to complain if he thought the street was looking ‘shabby’. He’s THAT guy.

@GreyhoundG1rl

Why did you watch him do it?! I'd have been out there at the speed of light.
I was still in my pyjamas Blush I also have to sort the dog before I leave the house otherwise he panics and eats things he shouldn’t. I once went out to get a parcel that was left at the end of the drive and came back to 2 missing kitchen cupboard doors. He’s a rescue and a very good boy who makes poor life choices.

Oh the temptation ... Wink

MrsMackesy · 28/06/2021 22:05

He simply can't get away with not being challenged about the sticker swap part.

He also needs to be told that his dirty bin is making the street look 'shabby'.

Hugoslavia · 28/06/2021 22:07

Just make sure that, once you've painted your house number on your bin, you sneak out at night and poor some prawn juice into the bottom of his!

Lorw · 28/06/2021 22:07

@JackieWeaversAuthorityHere

I’ve had a look. DH and bin stealer plus bin stealers wife are standing by the bins. Bin is open. DH has his teacher face on (he’s a secondary school teacher). Can’t see bin stealers face but bin stealers wife’s eyebrows are so far up her forehead they’re going to take off in a minute.
Absolutely dying at the wife’s eyebrow comment OP Grin

Thank you for the very much needed laugh!

Blonchette · 28/06/2021 22:09

Go round all the neighbours asking them to sign a petition protesting about Mr Bin-Thief’s shabby bin. And post it, when signed with a humongous number of signatures, through Mr and Mrs Bin-Thief’s door.

Blonchette · 28/06/2021 22:10

I think I’m spelling humongous wrong.

Anyway, if you don’t like the petition idea, how about a dirty protest …

YWBU to go and ask for the bin back.

What you need to do is wait until it's dark/very early hours, go and get your bin but at the same time, put any bags from cleaning up after the dog in his manky one.

Blonchette · 28/06/2021 22:11

And you should probably get some bin-oculars to watch out for future bin thievery.

Orchidflower1 · 28/06/2021 22:11

Omg @JackieWeaversAuthorityHere best thread of the day. Actually no of the week!

Your dh is AWESOME!!!

@mnhq I nominate for classics. Bin gate should hence forth usurp penis beaker as the most talked about classic dh thread!

Whybot · 28/06/2021 22:13

Paint your no on bin ?

emmetgirl · 28/06/2021 22:16

Blimey that's a bloody nerve!

PatsyJStone · 28/06/2021 22:16

Well done to hubby!

skodadoda · 28/06/2021 22:18

OP, please can we have a picture of your dog 😄

LittleMissNaice · 28/06/2021 22:19

Wait til next time he has his windows cleaned, then sneak round ...

I hear you!

HaveringWavering · 28/06/2021 22:22

Awesome thread! Love your DH’s work.

Figgygal · 28/06/2021 22:23

I love your dh and your dog - our rescue dog pulls the knobs off the gas cooker so I feel your pain

ozymandiusking · 28/06/2021 22:31

When you get it back, as well as painting visable numbers on it, plus stick on flowers etc, paint your number underneath.

winewolfhowls · 28/06/2021 22:32

This is the type of thread I come here for, polite round of applause and verse of for he's a jolly good fellow for your dh.

Paq · 28/06/2021 22:32

He’s a rescue and a very good boy who makes poor life choices.

The only thing that would make this thread more perfect is a picture of the dog. 🙏🙏🙏

ThinWomansBrain · 28/06/2021 22:38

well done OP's DH Gin
Definitely call the local paper in the morning
Stand against him in the next elections - if only to ridicule his CF bin policy.

ThinWomansBrain · 28/06/2021 22:42

this stands up well against last weeks' bastard monkfish thread Grin

LouLou198 · 28/06/2021 22:44

Fantastic update OP, what a hero your dh is. What on earth is wrong with people? To go to the trouble of peeling a label off too!! Get your gloss paint out tomorrow and paint on "back away from the bin CF next door bin stealer!"
I don't think they belong to the council, you have to pay £50 for a replacement round here if they go missing.
