Disclaimer - I love animals and im fascinated by them! But truly some have an aura of menace about them...
To start, I give you the Shoebill Stork. Not dangerous or anything but...disconcerting.
The Magnapinna / Bigfin squid. Rare & very alien looking.
That's the alien from Independence Day!
DoubleHelix79 · 23/06/2021 15:30

Swans. Evil creatures.

Goingplacestogether · 23/06/2021 15:34

The Harpy Eagle and Secretary Bird are surely humans in fancy dress! Utterly creepy both of them

Cocolapew · 23/06/2021 15:41

Dear god those harpy owls! wth?
I don't mind sloths hanging in a tree but when they are crawling along the ground it freaks me out.
What's the animal that carries its babies on it's back? Makes me want to boke.

Cocolapew · 23/06/2021 15:42

Opposum thats what I was thinking of 🤢

I used to work with a golden retriever that had a really sleazy grin- gave me the creeps!

cricketmum84 · 23/06/2021 15:46

Crabs. Any type of crabs. They move too much like spiders for me. Don't even get me started on bloody spider crabs!

Also Komodo dragons. Way too much like dinosaurs.

See also ostriches. My DH thought it would be so much fun to take me on a surprise trip to an ostrich farm on our honeymoon in Aruba. Omg you seriously don't believe how big the feckers are until you are face to face with one. Well face to chest might be more appropriate. Freaks of nature.

Another vote for axolotls. They actually disgust me and I like most creatures generally.
There's an animal that has holes in its back which its eggs are in.? Something like that. Eeewwwwww.

OlivesTree · 23/06/2021 15:48

Otters. Those hands! Creepy.

Hag fish
Tardigrades - I'm glad these are too small to see

the size of that moose! wtf?! I thought they were about the size of a reindeer Shock

OlivesTree · 23/06/2021 16:01

Look at the look in his eye @Cocolapew! He is tossing up ideas for how to steal your car keys.

Cocolapew · 23/06/2021 16:30

Agghhhh not the toad! I hate holey things :cries:

Soubriquet · 23/06/2021 16:31

Moose are shockingly big aren’t they!

When I first heard of them I also thought they were about the size of a deer. They really aren’t. They are huge

And yet ironically, their biggest predator is the orca Confused

ScribblyBaller · 23/06/2021 16:31

that chunky boi would make anyone's trypophobia pop

ScribblyBaller · 23/06/2021 16:34

Have you ever seen a white moose? they're another level of awe inspiring. I'd imagine in centuries past seeing one of those in the wild must have had all sorts of superstitions attached to it.

I like these guys. Not at all pretty but look like they'd be a great rowdy laugh down the local possum watering hole.
Mumteedum · 23/06/2021 16:53

Mane wolf. Just wrong.
