To realise I like old lady things

I bought some Yardley perfume for my grandmother and haven't been able to give it to her due to lockdown. I really like it and am going to buy some for me.
Also, I've started looking at those pointy cross-your hearty bras and thinking they look comfy and I quite like the shape, without having to cope with underwires (which I hate).
I'm 37, not 73. Are there any other old lady things I might like please?

I'm glad someone else mentioned cake forks. Whenever we have cake in the office I always use a fork. Everyone else thinks I'm terribly posh!

AiryFairyMum · 26/06/2020 17:48

I've thought of another. I love gilets in spring and autumn. I have a selection, inherited from my aunt, and they are perfect for when it is too warm for a coat. They are full of pockets, so perfect for dog walking or horse riding. I also love my insulated muckboots for really wet days, and an insulated mug, which is basically a flask in disguise.

@MitziK

Ooh, I forgot that I carry a tiny tube of Superglue in my work bag - and have glued soles of shoes back on for people, just like you!🙂
YY to tapioca and semolina, blancmange and jellies. The paper cases with frilled edges that had jelly in at parties.

Did anyone have cuts and grazes dabbed with 😱 iodine?😱
And TCP... which stank for hours afterwards? We had a medicine cupboard at home who’s contents were older than me!! Sunburn treated with lovely cool calamine lotion (shake bottle first) and the magical Lucozade with orange cellophane.

JudgeRindersMinder · 26/06/2020 17:49

Cake forks aren’t posh-they’re one of life’s necessities-I managed to retain custody of 2 sets in my divorce 25+years ago!
I also have umpteen sets of proper China-all of it inherited, a proper china cabinet, and ....drumroll please…an actual 1960s teak cocktail cabinet, complete with interior light😱

BeaLola · 26/06/2020 17:56

I love the smell of TCP and germolene takes me back to favourite childhood memories with my Mum tending my scraped knees .

re-silver teaspoons etc - since my DH bought me some at auction I have bought some more at online auctions and also sugar cube tongs - all were relatively inexpensive (£20 and under) and it's been a joy to use them....I have also bought China tea sets as well for small amounts - Blush

I like crocheting of an evening, peering at the TV now and then over the top of my reading glasses. I am 48.
I also can't sleep without bed socks and a hotwater bottle.

alwaysreadyforablether · 26/06/2020 18:15

I've just ordered two lovely white cotton nightdresses. Hoping they will help with night flushes as well as look lovely.

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 26/06/2020 18:21

alwaysready I got mine from Marks for £15 and it is amazingly comfy and also plain white cotton looks lovely!

wildthingsinthenight · 26/06/2020 19:08

I can't wait to put my long cotton nightdress on tonight. It's from The 1 For You. I have a white and a pale blue

wildthingsinthenight · 26/06/2020 19:09

alwaysreadyforablether you'll love them

SirVixofVixHall · 26/06/2020 19:34

Any tips for lovely nightdresses ? I am always looking for nice ones.

hedgehogger1 · 26/06/2020 19:43

I accidentally bought big pants once (online M&S shop). Sooo comfy. I keep circulating those and my other pants are negected

alwaysreadyforablether · 26/06/2020 19:57

I ordered these two from La Redoute. They actually had quite a few to choose from. Really hoping they're nice when they come.

I have very wide feet with a high instep.

Quite! 💸💸💸 😵

KetoWinnie · 26/06/2020 21:21

Guerlain ''Insolence'' is like parma violets, I love it. If there's a cheaper version of that I must look it up!

@Bioprepper I love that you're actively seeking MORE old lady things, not looking to be talked out of them! You go girl.

KetoWinnie · 26/06/2020 21:23

Managed to get the OP wrong somehow...

wildthingsinthenight · 26/06/2020 22:31
