Next door's -thug- cat

Has started coming in our house and stealing cat food.
Our cats dislike him. (understatement...)
Once he's in it's a problem removing him because he growls, hisses and then attacks us (launches at our legs etc).
He spends an inordinate amount of time in our garden or staring in through the French windows. Any suggestion how to gently discourage him? I have no intention of having outside doors shut for the whole summer.
Enclosed a picture of him sitting on our outside table.

But why is this door still shut? Why can't I come in?

Ilovetolurk · 10/05/2019 15:01

Impressive set of canines there

Jaxhog · 10/05/2019 15:08

Eek! He looks like our cat! Who also will happily eat everyone else's food too. Our neighbour got a microchip flap, and he no longer goes there.

GardenWoes231 · 10/05/2019 16:45

We have very similar - we call him ‘Pervy cat’ because he is constantly watching our girl or watching us!

Someone posted on our local facebook group a picture of him saying ‘this guy keeps coming in our house’ and literally about 20 other people commented the same. He is hilarious. He is super super friendly but our girl hates him.

My favourite story is when we woke up about 2am and we could hear our girl growling (not a common occurrence) and he was sat on our first floor landing outside our bedroom bold as brass! He’d come in through a first floor window(!)

He is very determined and if he didn’t upset our girl so much I’d let him hang out. But he’s very funny bless him.

Sybil's currently feeling pleased with herself (token pic enclosed) having seen TC off again this afternoon. Unfortunately he usually comes back in under a minute.

That's a "Silent Miaow" (according to Terry Pratchett) ,
It is supposed to be the way into your heart , irresistible to Cat Slaves .

By the 1st June you'll have opened the patio doors and let in him. (And once you 'invite' him, like a vampire , you have no power over him )

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 10/05/2019 17:56

IT'S TOO LATE...

Just nipped out to get the washing in.
Came back in to be greeted by this in the kitchen.

He's bloody quick!

Shock

You could borrow Bob. She’s fully mastered the “I will shit in your boots” stare.

Op just face it you now have 5 cats, or a stalker 😂

Minkies11 · 10/05/2019 18:15

You could borrow my 2 - once they make friends with another cat you never see it again!

Such a wonderful thread Grin nothing to add but thank you.

sweetkitty · 10/05/2019 18:22

Oh this thread is so funny, so cat!

He obviously thinks you are his new set of servants.

Who is thinking of getting new kitties? Oh do? We have two almost one year olds after having our 17 year old huge tabby boy PTS. They are amazing so funny to have kittens again, the children adore them (as they actually interact with them rather than hate them as old boy did)

TheABC · 10/05/2019 18:28

He is desperately trying to adopt you.
No real suggestions except the water pistol. We got around the problems of our local thug cat by getting an even bigger one. When thug cat tried to intimidate the new boy it was obviously assumed he was playing and thug cat wanted to be concussed.

It's been blissful peace for over a year now...

Mirardosa · 10/05/2019 18:32

Oh my, he looks just like my boy who went missing about 6/7 years ago who was also Bengal X!! He was chipped but no one ever came forward with him so I thought he could be living feral/ found a nice old lady to live with. I wonder if it's him!!

Mia184 · 10/05/2019 20:18

Oh, this is funny. Grin
Sybil is gorgeous and I admire TCs determination!

boringlyboring · 10/05/2019 21:21

This is my favourite thread.
I’d just prepare a spot on your (his) bed now OP

LazyFace · 10/05/2019 21:56

Nah... you have 5 cats now I think.

Lindy2 · 10/05/2019 22:14

I love that photo of him in your kitchen. He really looks like he's hoping you haven't actually noticed that he's there.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 10/05/2019 22:25

Aww look at the body language in the last 2 photos.

Paws together , head level with body , ears horizontal, tail curled round his rump - he's taking up as little space as possible .
Compare that to the first photo on the table .

He has moved in, he will get under your feet , your table and your skin.
You have 5 cats Grin

TheLongRider · 10/05/2019 22:50

He's certainly acting as if he wants to move in. Have the boys shrugged their shoulders and agreed? I'd say his biggest problem is Sybil. If he persuades her that he's ok then you have a new cat.

Icepinkeskimo · 10/05/2019 22:55

I'm loving this thread I have a Deja vue moment. The same thing happened to me and my fur faces. I tried everything but mafia boss moggy was on a mission. I came home to find him lying on the sofa with my three watching the tv. He was lonely, and then promptly moved in. I did put up posters with his mug shot but no one ever came forward, and to be honest he's a great cat, I'd be lost without him.

Are you quite sure he's not your cat?!

MrsJDornan · 11/05/2019 13:55

YesQueen · 11/05/2019 14:00
