Has started coming in our house and stealing cat food.
Our cats dislike him. (understatement...)
Once he's in it's a problem removing him because he growls, hisses and then attacks us (launches at our legs etc).
He spends an inordinate amount of time in our garden or staring in through the French windows. Any suggestion how to gently discourage him? I have no intention of having outside doors shut for the whole summer.
Enclosed a picture of him sitting on our outside table.

Water pistol for sure. Every time he’s nearby.

We are currently in the same situation.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 23/04/2019 08:35

BoundByBriars I would have done this morning - but I don't normally carry a water pistol on the school run.
At least he was friendly this morning - rubbed up against my legs, purred and made no attempt to maim or dismember me.

Ah he looks so cute though.

SpamChaudFroid · 23/04/2019 08:48

I caught my intruder indoors, wrapped him up completely in an old towel so he could hardly move and dunked him in a sink of cold water. Holy fuck, you're joking right?

wheresmymojo · 23/04/2019 08:54

I'm afraid he's clearly casing the joint...looking for flaws in the front door to bust it open whenever suits him.

smurfy2015 · 23/04/2019 08:54

Are your cats male or female? op

I had this with an older cat who was being bullied at home by visiting male cats. He was a male neutered. The intruders used to try coming in the doors/windows if open. They were also resistant to water pistols and would hiss at me as I squirted them right in the face.

I laughed as a vet friend recommended, I protect his area by showing the other cats that he was a bigger buck than them. A friend described how the phone calls that ensured were hilarious. Cue me ringing around a few male friends and asking them to collect urine for me in large milk bottles which I then scattered around the boundary, the invaders stopped coming into his territory after a few days. There was obviously a bigger buck than them around.

Pictures OP going around the garden with milk container of men's urine, it worked for me with that cat.

I have three boys and one girl. Sybil hates him and sees him off. Basil fights him occasionally but they also frequently ignore each other. Our two younger cats seem fairly relaxed around him.
If it wasn't for his vicious streak I really wouldn't be bothered.

It's a shame he is agressive as he seems quite fond Grin

YetAnotherSpartacus · 23/04/2019 14:50

He's a sweetie cheeky fucker!

Dontgiveamonkeys1350 · 24/04/2019 08:13

I had one that did that. For a while I kept the food up. And after a while it didn’t bother coming back in as the food wasn’t there. Sometimes I keep his food upstairs so my cat can still eat it. But the other cats don’t know it is there

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 30/04/2019 17:41

Having had a quiet week, terrorist-cat (his owner's description of him) used stealth mode to get back in again today - at least he left with good grace this time. He then tried to get in again after another ten minutes - just about to deal with him when he was spotted by Sybil and chased off.
Now he's relaxing on the patio while getting dirty looks from my three boys.
I have to admire his cheek.

Maybe he will mellow with age.

Historydweeb · 30/04/2019 17:47

Wow! He's a very handsome Sir puss but if he tried hissing at me in my own house he'd be getting a very swift boot in the ring piece.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 30/04/2019 19:02

Dear God he's trying to get through the window now. We are under siege Grin

Grumpy , I am lurking on Litter Tray because my DH and I are thinking about being owned by cats again ( we had a tortie who was 17yo years ago)

Having read this thread and having looked into the serpent-esque green eyes of my NDN cat as he glared disapprovingly at me from the shed roof ..............I;m thinking about changing my mind Shock

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 03/05/2019 14:40

Don't let this put you off - and remember the rule here seems to be to get two cats rather than one. Grin
Having owned cats without any breaks for the last 35 years - I can't actually imagine living without them, and the neighbour's cat does keep us entertained!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 03/05/2019 14:50

I'm thinking along the Two Cats Choice .
We ave to sort out a cat door before I can contact rescues ( they would need to be bonded adults)

I like NDN cat, he lards about in my garden just chilling , not so keen on the 'presents' he leaves though .
Though if I had my own cats, it would my my cats' poo.....

See..............you're talking me into thinking about my cats-to-be !

Ilovetolurk · 03/05/2019 14:56

Can I just lurk on this thread for more updates

He’s one big mutha

OhMsBeliever · 03/05/2019 14:58

He's the boss now, you may as well give in. Move out and let him have the house. Grin

RavenLG · 03/05/2019 15:06

All i can think of is the raptor scene in Jurassic Park

boringlyboring · 03/05/2019 19:07

I love this thread and every photo to go with it.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 03/05/2019 19:46

There was a Bengal on the Battersea website a few years ago, Hadrian (as in 'Wall' )
IIRC he was re-homed and returned about 3 times Sad they said through no fault of his own but the details stated any prospective owners had to be clued up about Bengals because they aren't like other cats ........................ so staking you out through the window, surveying you from your table , trying to break in through the front door and sprawling , faking death on the patio and re-inacting Pet Sematary seems to be 'normal' Bengal.

You should be honoured to live next to such a prime specimen Grin
