Because they are 'that good'? I realise different songs may affect people differently Smile

I have lots:

The last part of Do the right thing, Simply Red
The last part of Light my fire, Will Young
The whole of Sandstorm, Darude
The chorus of Love Love, Take That
The chorus of The Flood, Take That
The whole of Praying for time, George Michael
The whole of Sing Hallelujah, Dr Alban
The last chorus, to the end Confusion, ELO
The last bit, to fade, Rise, Gabrielle
All of Don't You, Simple Minds
All of Shine, Years and Years
All of Paradise by the dashboard light, Meatloaf
All of Home By The Sea, Genesis

Just off the top of my head Smile

There are so many songs that I could name, but the one that blew me away when I heard it was 'She's Leaving Home' by the Beatles. I mean, the whole song was so validating, but these lines especially:

"She's leaving home after living alone for so many years."
"Something inside that was always denied for so many years"

I find it hard to listen to still, and those words never fail to bring a tear to my eye. I left home young, my mother often voiced identical thoughts to the mother in the song; and this song feels like it was written so I knew someone understood

It sounds silly, but Stay Another Day by East 17 makes me well up, once you know what it's about.

It's about one of the band's brother's suicide. It's not some sappy break up song, it's about the heartbreak of wishing your loved one could have made it through.

I'm not usually a fan of hers, but these lyrice from the Carrie Underwood song Temporary Home

Young mom on her own
She needs a little help got nowhere to go
She's lookin' for a job, lookin' for a way out
'Cause a half-way house will never be a home
At night she whispers to her baby girl
Someday we'll find a place here in this world
"This is our temporary home
It's not where we belong
Windows in rooms that we're passin' through
This is just a stop, on the way to where we're going
I'm not afraid because I know this is our
Temporary Home."

Really get to me because the first time I hesrd it I was a newly single 24 year old, pretty clueless mum to a 1 year old daughter. We were living in a cheap house in a really rough neighbourhood and I was going to college as a means to get to uni and get a decent job. I did used to hold my baby girl and remind us both we wouldnt be there forever, as one side of neighbours screamed and swore at each other all night every night and the other side was a drug dealer, who had people banging on his door at all times of the day and night. Maybe a bit self indulgent, but they were tough times and it gives me goosebumps remembering how I felt when I first heard the song
