I don't know if this is the right thing to do, and I'm so sorry if not.

catthiefkeith passed away today.

I know there are mumsnetters who know her know how amazing she is, and I just wanted to raise a glass to her memory on here, where she brought a smile to so many faces with her stories of her mad life.

Rest in peace lovely lady.

Would an MN campaign highlighting adult meningitis be a fitting tribute? We're all aware of the signs in babies/children but less so in adults.

HawkeyeInConfusion · 18/08/2017 22:09

So sorry to hear this news. CTK was one of the few names I'd recognise and her threads were always funny.

My thoughts are with her family and friends. Flowers

I'm so sad to hear this news. As many have said, she was one of those names I always noticed and enjoyed the warmth, wit, humour and intelligence.

She was SO funny, what an awful loss for her family and friends. Flowers

How awful. So sad for her family.

She was a lovely, lively poster. Someone who made Mumsnet the place it is.

RJnomore1 · 18/08/2017 22:12

Guys just to say you can donate to the meningitis trust online and you can do it through PayPal so it's really really easy.

MrsK was kind enough to point it out to me and I thought I'd mention how easy it is to do.

Can I also say how lovely it is to see how MN can still pull together in sad times like this.

Josiah · 18/08/2017 22:13

ScissorBow

Yes, I suggested this earlier.

It's rather chilling as one of her last posts mentions her going deaf in one ear. A quick Google brings up many adult cases in recent years including another mother who one day had earache and within days she had died of meningitis. She had been to a Dr and was given stuff for her earache. A chillingly similar tale.

I was only discussing meningitis with DD yesterday. So tragic.

spiderlight · 18/08/2017 22:16

Oh my God. This has really, genuinely shocked me. She was one of my favourite posters - so, so funny and such a brilliant storyteller. Absolutely heartbroken for her family.

MillieMoodle · 18/08/2017 22:16

Heartbreaking. Rest in Peace CTK, my thoughts are with your family and friends. It's frightening how things can change in just a moment. Flowers

weebarra · 18/08/2017 22:16

I'm so so sorry to hear this. I loved her posts and she always sounded like the most fun person. She had such a distinctive voice.
My condolences to all who loved her.

Kickhiminthenuts · 18/08/2017 22:17

Shit. I'm so so sorry to those that knew her.

She read as such a warm, lovely, funny, genuinely kind person. A real gem and despite not "knowing" her I'll miss reading her funny tales.

Sleep tight Flowers my lovely.

Tenementfunster · 18/08/2017 22:17

I remember she had some neighbours across the road who had a mad inflatable bouncy castle in their driveway. She was so funny. Such sad news.

AWaspOnAWindowInAHeatwave · 18/08/2017 22:18

Oh my god. Shocking and sad news. Keith was one of the warmest, funniest, kindest mnetters I've come across in the 4yrs I've been posting here. Such an amazing lady. I remember crying with laughter at the way she recounted some of her predicaments - (the one that springs to mind is Keith taking refuge in a Wendy house because she'd taken her car to be fixed and left her house keys with her car!) - she never took herself too seriously and saw the humour in everything. Lovely, lovely woman. My heart goes out to her family and friends. FlowersFlowersFlowers

What a tragedy. I don't recognise that many usernames on here but she stood out for her compassion, humour and intelligence. The world is poorer for her loss. Her poor husband and daughter too, plus family and friends. My thoughts are with them.

lunar1 · 18/08/2017 22:21

MN just became a duller place. Lots of love to her loved ones.

No!!! That's awful awful news. Keith and I swapped spoof Christmas cards a few years ago to wind our parents up with. Hers was hilarious. Proper pelvic floor loosening wit.

Meningitis is a real fucker. My cousin had it 3 years ago. He spent 80 days in ICU and thankfully recovered although not by any means unscathed.

My love and thoughts go out to Keith's family at this dreadful time. Sad
