AIBU to leave it out overnight?

I have a load of washing on the line. OH just checked it and he says its still pretty wet. No sun here (Grrr) so there is no chance it will dry before we have to go out in an hour.

I say it's not a big deal, we can just leave it on the line overnight and get it in tomorrow when it's dry

He says if it's left out overnight it won't stay clean.

Solve this clash of opinions please dearest vipers (I have no idea how it would get dirty on the clothes line)

LEM yes, the spiders have done a good job of the media blackout on that one.

BarbaraofSeville · 13/04/2017 08:45

If you live in Iceland or northern Scandinavia is it OK to leave your washing out overnight in the summer when it doesn't really get dark?

It wouldn't get darked on. Spiders only wave their willies at night it would seem, although I'm not sure what we're defining as 'night'. Is that when it is dark, or between certain hours?

WateryTart · 13/04/2017 10:09

In Scandinavia there is the additional difficulty of trolls. They don't care if it's not dark as long as you're asleep. They choose the nicest pieces and take them off under bridges to use as nappies.

My neighbour leaves her clothes on the line for days..... along with her Lawnmower (still plugged in), bags of rubbish next to it all and plays v loud music.... so I am vvv slightly biased here 😞. My DM always told me that you CANNOT leave washing out overnight as it is just lazy/ won't dry + will gather bugs. Loving the spiders willie's though 😄😄😄

seedsofchange · 15/04/2017 17:50

So , if I stay up sitting outside in the dark, does that meant I've been darked on as well?
Do spiders wipe their willies on people, too ??? Eek!

fluffiny31 · 15/04/2017 18:52

This thread is hilarious Grin

SmileEachDay · 15/04/2017 18:56

seeds no, spiders are not perverts. They do now wipe their willies on people.

You may get some dark on you by being outside, but this is easily removed by coming inside and lighting all over the dark.
The issue for washing is it gets left to soak, so the dark won't come out.

StrawberryJelly00 · 15/04/2017 19:01

LMAO!!! Grin funniest thread I've seen in a while!! Hehhehe

JustCallMeKate · 15/04/2017 19:05

You won't be laughing if you washing gets DARKED on or spiders rub their willies on it Strawberry it's a serious business you know.

SmileEachDay · 15/04/2017 19:08

My inlaws (technically ex) are Chinese. My MIL used to nearly faint at the sign of dusk if I had laundry out. She believed that ghosts would wear them overnight. I wonder if they would bring them back in the morning Hmm. For this reason I never left anything out overnight (or even in the dark) just in case.

seedsofchange · 15/04/2017 21:01

. I leave my shoes outside in the summer. What might happen?

Fairybella · 15/04/2017 21:07

I leave my washing out over night.
My dp has to gt it in this way the spider willie germs touch him first.
Also so he can collect the toddler t.shirts that are strewn all over that the bastard bunnies use as super hero capes. Dicks!

SmileEachDay · 15/04/2017 21:10

seeds I think I'm right in saying that shoes can actually be impregnated by spider willies. That and the obvious being DARKED ON.

Someone may be along to tell you my science is out of date. but you'll always imagine millions of baby spiders erupting from your toes

seedsofchange · 15/04/2017 21:19

Omg. I'm never ever wearing my summer shoes ever again.
Thank you smile for saving me from a fate worse than death

Lovelilies · 15/04/2017 21:42

DD1 and her friends are sleeping on the trampoline outside tonight...
Will all these disasters happen to them also? Or is it only laundry?

biggerboat · 15/04/2017 21:42

Reading this whilst lying under a duvet cover taken off the line after being 'darked on' for two days and all I can think is that it's been savaged by spider scrot. I feel dirty.

Goodythreeshoes · 15/04/2017 21:45

This would be a good script for an episode of Dr Who.

user1489675144 · 15/04/2017 21:49

What a strange thread.

MysteriesOfTheOrganism · 15/04/2017 22:04

The dangers of clothing being darked on (and subject to all the other indignities people have so wisely mentioned) was well known in ancient times. To mitigate the problem, one item of clothing would be placed on the clothes line as a sacrifice to noxious nocturnal powers and dastardly denizens of the animal kingdom. This would usually be a robust outer garment built to withstand the rigours of ill-use - hence the term 'scapecoat'. Grin

MapMyMum · 15/04/2017 22:11

You hang up a goat??! Scapegoat
