AIBU to leave it out overnight?

I have a load of washing on the line. OH just checked it and he says its still pretty wet. No sun here (Grrr) so there is no chance it will dry before we have to go out in an hour.

I say it's not a big deal, we can just leave it on the line overnight and get it in tomorrow when it's dry

He says if it's left out overnight it won't stay clean.

Solve this clash of opinions please dearest vipers (I have no idea how it would get dirty on the clothes line)

Clothes smell different too when left out overnight

SmileEachDay · 12/04/2017 11:53

You know what that smell is, November?

CaptainBraandPants · 12/04/2017 11:54

Many years ago, my DM left a sheet out overnight and someone set fire to it. Shock
So, I never leave washing out overnight. However, if you live in a naice middle class area, you'll probably be ok.

AstrantiaMajor · 12/04/2017 12:39

For goodness sake another bloody thing to worry about. I am having nightmares about Spider Willies and ghosts dressing up as people. Now I have satan wiping his bum on my sheets and trying on my bras. (I better go and apologise to DH a previously I thought he was committing the last two offences).

I never thought this would be an issue until I heard it was bad feng shui and now it comes in every night!

Purplebluebird · 12/04/2017 17:08

I leave mine out in the night, didn't realise it would get darked on :o

gluteustothemaximus · 12/04/2017 19:45

This happens regularly.

Monday washing goes out, doesn't dry, leave overnight.

Tuesday, almost dry, just a bit longer.

Rains. Bugger. Make note to get in and rewash.

Wednesday. Forgets to rewash. Sunny again, it'll be ok? Not dried out yet. Leave it overnight.

Thursday. Almost dry again!

Starts to rain again. Oh for fucks sake.

Brings in washing. Puts away.

DH and kids... why does the washing smell of damp, darkness, and spiders willies??

HappyFlappy · 12/04/2017 22:04

But what do the badgers do.....?

Wipe their hairy arses on it Ronnie

I regularly leave mine out overnight and all of these horrors happen to it.

Obviously, getting DARKED on is the worst, and washing never properly recovers, but it's better than having the house fullofundarked soggy sheets etc.

mummymummums · 12/04/2017 22:08

Ah poop - I hung mine out today before we went away and we're now away until Sunday. The neighbours will think I'm skanky.

ludog · 12/04/2017 22:15

Just like the swallows coming back to their nests, the first "should I leave the washing out overnight/after it's been rained on?" thread is a sure sign summer is on the way!

JustCallMeKate · 12/04/2017 22:29

DH is still refusing to wear the darked on boxers. FFS he's a vet 😡 You'd think in the interest of veterinary science he'd want to conduct an experiment to test out if they feel different having had spider willies dragged over them. He could write a paper on his experience and maybe have it published....

dowhatnow · 12/04/2017 22:54

What about the female spiders?

Fl0ellafunbags · 12/04/2017 23:00

Many years ago, my DM left a sheet out overnight and someone set fire to it

It was due to the friction from over zealous spider willy dragging

SearchingforGrandparents · 12/04/2017 23:34

The What is a 'Slattern?!' X

PyongyangKipperbang · 12/04/2017 23:35

Female spiders are too busy posting on the world wide web Wink about their dirty bastard DH's wiping their willies on the human neighbours washing.

PyongyangKipperbang · 12/04/2017 23:39

Searching same as "slut" used to mean.

A lazy woman who didnt scrub her front step until you could eat your dinner off it, who was more interested in sitting with her feet up than cooking her hard working husband a decent meal and didnt put her lipstick on before she left the house.

My aunt once said to me when I was in my early twenties that she hadnt done the breakfast pots as she had been sitting in the sun and asked if I thought she was a slut. I hadnt known that there was a more old school meaning at that point and was rather shocked at the question :o And no I didnt, in either meaning!

Gingernaut · 12/04/2017 23:39

SearchingforGrandparents - a slattern is a slovenly woman who doesn't care about cleanliness.

Just the sort of creature who leaves her washing out overnight. Grin

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 12/04/2017 23:45

If I leave my washing out overnight it's likely to be frozen solid in the morning. Either that or I'll find a moose trying to disguise itself as a clothes prop or a bear trying on my not so smalls

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 12/04/2017 23:46

And if a spider has eight legs, how many penises does it have?

PickAChew · 12/04/2017 23:53

Here, someone will light a bonfire and then it will stink of smoke for ever more.

giraffesCantReachTheirToes · 13/04/2017 00:01

Snails social housing made me snort.

My old neighbour used to leave her washing out for days, weeks even. I once had a thread and updated with photos (although the photos were on my profile cos it was 2009ish and you couldn't do photos on threads then)

Kleptronic · 13/04/2017 00:26

Deer also play dress up with washing, if they get there before the bears.

TheoriginalLEM · 13/04/2017 00:29

spiders don't have willies!

PyongyangKipperbang · 13/04/2017 00:49

If you leave whites on the line in the summer for days and days (assuming no bird/bat shit) then they become lovely and white. Worth doing if you dont have a child like DS who can outgrow an outfit between buying it and getting it home.
