AIBU to think that comprehension just isn't a strong point with some people.

I've noticed this quite a lot over the time I have on MN.

Referring to a recent thread re early retirement. The poster quite clearly stated that DH wanted to retire in 14 months (when mortgage paid) and wanted her to retire at the same time. She is 10 years his junior and works part time.

OK, first answer was "So he wants you both to retire in early forties"

Second response "Can you change to part time work"

I can understand this if we were 10 pages into the thread because we don't all have time to read all responses, but come on, the first two responses?

OP posts:

I've name changed for this as it makes me too recognisable

MrsCosmopilite · 01/10/2014 16:25

Well I'll be doing it on a budget this year: Candles made from my own earwax, and knitted blankets (the wool is made from spun cat hair I collected from the carpet). YABVVVU if you don't do the same.

Shockers · 01/10/2014 16:34

My ex boyfriend's aunt sold up when she retired. She winters in Benidorm and summers in Cleethorpes.

(that is actually true)

Cherub1066 · 01/10/2014 17:58

Can you hire a cleaning company to come do a deep clean to help you get back on track?
Your marriage sounds salvageable.

RandomFriend · 01/10/2014 17:59

Where do you plan to live after you retire, OP?

phonebox · 01/10/2014 18:02

Your post reeks of prejudice, OP.

phonebox · 01/10/2014 18:03

Namechanged as I don't want to be outed (but oldie regular - naice ham, pom bears, NDKFOGPEEIIRUUS, poo crumbs, cutted up pear etc.)

OP, YANBU.

BuggersMuddle · 01/10/2014 19:19

Retire? Do you think it could be OW?

I would get his phone / hack his PC / commit other act of dubious legality.

You need a plan. Possibly with random times that may or may not work for you (6pm?) and unrelated suggestions (maybe get in pizza for DC - of course it's junk food, but extenuating circumstances IMO?), all of which require parentheses (confide in DM?).

andsmile · 01/10/2014 19:39

Sorry..Ive not read all the thread but is this a reverse AIBU?

Cherub1066 · 01/10/2014 20:39

Is that you Rosepetal?

IrenetheQuaint · 01/10/2014 20:53

God your DP sounds just like my ex. Is he called Gary and does he live in Wolverhampton?? PM me if so.

Fullpleatherjacket · 01/10/2014 21:40

It's all because of the babyboomers rattling round the massive mansions they bought for a pittance.

Shockers · 01/10/2014 22:19

My favourite was George Harrison.

Lala83 · 01/10/2014 22:34

This too shall pass when you are both in your 50s together Thanks

LapsedPacifist · 01/10/2014 22:34

OP, everyone has been very quick to tell you to LTB just because he called you a 'fat munter' 2 days after giving birth to triplets. But ask yourself honestly, have you let yourself go? Because unless you are at least 6 foot tall, being larger than a size 14 is quite frankly VERY VERY unhealthy, you are at grave risk of heart disease and diabetes and will probably be dead before your DC start Reception. He's probably just concerned about your health! Shock

Bakeoffcakes · 01/10/2014 22:44

I wonder why the OP hasn't come backHmm

Bridge dweller me thinks.

Downamongtherednecks · 01/10/2014 22:44

It's ESpresso NOT EXpresso. Why won't people get it right?
blithely ignores fact that expresso is correct in the Francophone world

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 01/10/2014 23:07

How dare the school interfere and tell me what can and can't go into the lunch box.

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 01/10/2014 23:08

Shockers · 01/10/2014 23:09

Gin OP, and lots of it.

Failing that, get a family bag of Kettle Chips and hope that distracts them while you hide.

Good luck x

MackerelOfFact · 01/10/2014 23:13

If she was spayed in the first place you wouldn't have this problem. Hmm

Shockers · 01/10/2014 23:32

If it's really that bad, buy a voucher for a back, sac and crack wax and slip it through his letterbox when he's out.

Just be warned, the true enormity of the situation will be revealed without its natural camouflage...

LadyLuck10 · 01/10/2014 23:34

Have some Wine. It fixes everything..EVERYTHING

JulyKit · 01/10/2014 23:43

OP, did you mean to be so rude? Hmm

( POSSIBLE TRIGGER )

CatWitch · 02/10/2014 00:53

I hate Halloween! Bunch of commercialised American crap! Just an opportunity to extort sweets from people and scare those poor old people..
