AIBU to think that comprehension just isn't a strong point with some people.

I've noticed this quite a lot over the time I have on MN.

Referring to a recent thread re early retirement. The poster quite clearly stated that DH wanted to retire in 14 months (when mortgage paid) and wanted her to retire at the same time. She is 10 years his junior and works part time.

OK, first answer was "So he wants you both to retire in early forties"

Second response "Can you change to part time work"

I can understand this if we were 10 pages into the thread because we don't all have time to read all responses, but come on, the first two responses?

OP posts:

Frusso Surely your vacuum cleaner has a crevice attachment!

IrenetheQuaint · 30/09/2014 21:44

Interesting first post, OP Hmm

Primadonnagirl · 30/09/2014 21:48

OP when your DH retires he will be able to claim JSA and I know that's true cos my friend says so.
Just text him your answer or put it on his Facebook page.Better text his secret phone though and when he replies ask us all what he really means.
Why are you married to a man so much younger than you anyway? Is he one of them awful Turkish waiters?

TheBigBumTheory · 30/09/2014 22:47

Speaking of comprehension, dd is now a free reader which means she can bring her own copy of War and Peace into school without being told off. What could she read next?

Gruntfuttock · 30/09/2014 22:51

Is she reading it in the original Russian?

TheBigBumTheory · 30/09/2014 22:53

Yes, in Russian, it's a rare uncorrected manuscript she found in a charity shop.

Cherub1066 · 30/09/2014 22:58

Yet you still have time to post on a chat forum? God help me.

Beckyboo2 · 30/09/2014 23:10

Well OP, EKW would RTFT

Beckyboo2 · 30/09/2014 23:12

..or was she an EKL, I can't remember :D

SouthernComforts · 30/09/2014 23:18

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

NerfHerder · 30/09/2014 23:18

But will your sisterwife be retiring at the same time? Hmm

Cherub1066 · 30/09/2014 23:20

This isn't playing out the way you expected OP so just thank the posters that agree with you because all you want is validation. You sound like one of those people who only invite DC's friends home so you can go through their book bag. Those cakes were not home made btw so your friend had every right IMHO.

Cherub1066 · 30/09/2014 23:22

And cocklodger doesn't even cover it. That text he sent about you getting the sauce on the way home says it all.

puntasticusername · 30/09/2014 23:35

I think it is more concerning that you are encouraging the child to think of unhealthy food as treats Hmm

(blatantly c&p off another thread, sorry, it was just too good...)

CatWitch · 30/09/2014 23:40

Well don't you sound charming! I really feel sorry for your children.

Hth

happygirl87 · 01/10/2014 00:49

Have you tried meal planning?

MissSingerbrains · 01/10/2014 01:04

Oh god, not another FB thread! There's been about 15 thousand of them since 1pm! I don't ever want to see a single FB thread as they need to go into the FB section, yes we do have one!

FB is a waste of time anyway. I deleted my account and my life is so much better now; I'm so chilled and laid back all the time...

Sapat · 01/10/2014 02:08

I was wearing a vest the other day and did a really really big stretch and yawn, revealing hairy pits. One person looked at me. The nerve!

My tits fall out of my top and my carers have told me it makes them feel uncomfortable, but since they are coming to my house to help me I don't see why I should wear appropriate clothing.

moxon · 01/10/2014 02:26

Frankly, I'd immediately try an amber teething neckless, OP. I don't know about all this 'science' malarkey, I just know it works.

Staywithme · 01/10/2014 03:19

First world problem! Hmm

sherlocksteacup · 01/10/2014 04:33

hmmm interesting. Did you join mumsnet just to post this OP?
Or did you NC because you knew you would be in for a well deserved flaming. Maybe you should go back to netmums. They don't swear over there. Are you certain MN is the right forum for you?

Cherub1066 · 01/10/2014 06:55

How are you this morning OP? Hope you managed to talk it over with someone in RL

Shockers · 01/10/2014 07:04

Night Nurse. DH says it makes me snore, but it's worth it to get a full night's sleep.
