Oh Wiggins, oh Bradley
I love you quite madley
You look tres sexee
In the yellow jersey
Vous etes tres bon

With your mates Cav and Froome
To Paris you'll zoom
Do your side burns help you steer?
When you win I will shed a tear.

What's nice is accummulating knowledge about the Tour as the years go by - now in my 9th yr of Tour watching ( once in the flesh) and this year it's great to be a real Tour Bore to the unitiated.Grin

LostInWales · 23/07/2012 21:48

And sparkly eyes. Great cheekbones, sparkly eyes and the thigh muscles and mental toughness to take on the best in the world and leave them standing. Happy, happy days Grin

evilgiraffe I'm with you, I want to email this thread to Dave Brailsford just so he knows how much his boys mean to us! I've been enjoying the tour for years now but nothing will match yesterday for me ever again. I believed they could do it but it was amazing to watch.

ThePan · 23/07/2012 21:48

Downy - I ocassionally watch the Youtube clip of last years finish, where Cav appeared from nowhere - "Someone's just launched him.."

LostInWales · 23/07/2012 21:52

I'm a total tour bore too Grin, I can see peoples eyes start to glaze over after about the third time I say 'It's like a giant game of chess. On bikes. With some of the worlds greatest athletes. In lycra'

We were the top of the Alpe d'Huez last year and I screamed Cav's name like some kind of boy band follower Blush, but he actually turned his head and grinned. Brilliant.

ThePan · 23/07/2012 21:59

Lost - I think I recall you posting from France last year.
If Cav does leave Sky, it'll be a cert for a Missile finish next year. And it'd be sooo good to be there......

evilgiraffe · 23/07/2012 22:03

Alright, Lost you are now my hero. You actually got eye contact? Fantastic.

Does anyone have an email address? I know there's only about five of us on here, but who cares who cares, it's the depth of the love that counts, right?

I am not a tour bore, hurrah! I have never paid attention until this year - amazing what a nice bike of my own and DH actually pointing out we have some Good Chaps in the Tour will do... Next year, however, I will be inviting myself round to stay with my Parisian friend the weekend of the finish - got to see Cav make it five?!

Downy - hurtles is the word, isn't it? He's just fab.

Love love love Le Tour...watched it as a child and still bewitched by it. Yesterday was incredible-so proud of them :)

Excellent work here I'm afraid I can't match your creativity, so I'll sit and google images of Cav, wiggo, Hagen , Cancellara...

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 23/07/2012 22:19

I am all in a tizz
For the yellow clad whizz

He fills me with joy
That skinny white boy

I dont usually like
A man on a bike

Tis utterly perplex'in
This sideboarded except'in

Thank you

SeashellsAllezModInYellowAllez · 23/07/2012 22:23

Oh and I'm a tour bore. Dh is a road bike bore though so its fine.

Losty if you weren't my mate I'd have serious Envy issues. Actually fuck I do have serious. Envy Grin

smellylittleorange · 23/07/2012 22:30

Ahem..

Oh Bradley what delectable Mod
with your lovely cycling bod
which is not as lovely as the God
..of Mods Paul Weller
but you look good in Yella

but it would be such a delight
and such a sight
to have you down at the tube station at midnight

woooo ooooh ooooooh oooooh!!

sorry Blush

LostInWales · 23/07/2012 22:35

I'll show you the footage on my phone next time SeaShells. It's a shame though because the video is marred by the awful sound of woman screeching Caaaaaaaaaaav like a demented fishwife all the way through Blush.

Was just googling images of Thor Hushvold (as you do) and he announced last week that he wouldn't be at the Olympics as he's got a bug. Bum, I was looking forward to seeing him on his bike happily ticks off another one who won't beat Cav

LostInWales · 23/07/2012 22:36

Coming up the first week in September for those of you who have caught the bug. (Not the one Thor has, the cycling bug)

Kellywestie · 23/07/2012 22:41

Wiggo's proved he rules supreme
Team Sky the best the world has seen!

Short, but sums up how I feel!! Have watched many wonderful feats of cycling prowess over the years in the TDF but nothing to match the team tactics, team work and sheer talent of this bunch of young men. Felt quite emotional on Saturday watching Brad blow the field away in the time trial and on Sunday watching Brits finish 1st and 2nd overall and Brad, then Edvald leading The Manx Missile out for his 4th win on the Champs Élysées.

So well deserved by everyone connected to the 'Sky Train'.

evilgiraffe · 23/07/2012 22:44

I shall be watching it, Lost! Assuming its televised, anyway. I did love the ITV4 coverage of Le Tour - really good presenting and commentary, particularly because they're rather irreverent Grin

And definitely a plus to cross off opponents for Cav! Although I really want him to be up against everyone and still win, winning is the main thing! I'm not sure I'm going to be able to sleep properly until after the road race. And I'm going to miss it! I've got to go to a wedding, do you think the 2pm service will be over in time to sit in the car and catch the finish?

evilgiraffe · 23/07/2012 22:47

NB regarding the Manx Missile, please tell me it wasn't just me who cackled like a dirty dirty person when Cav got described as "the Manx Missile, the man with three legs"? I had tears and everything and a mental image I'd been trying so hard not to conjure up...

LostInWales · 23/07/2012 22:52

You'll have to get one of those radios with an earpiece, as long as you don't start jumping up and down shouting 'yes' at a solemn moment you'll probably get away with it. Or you could sit behind a pillar and we could live update you on here? When we were on the Alpe d'Huez there was commentary on speakers but as it was all in (overexcited) French I followed the race via text from my mate at work who was following it on twitter. Where there's a will there's a way and all that Wink I think I'll be too nervous to watch the road race. As it was my kitchen was pristine by the time Cav crossed on Sunday.

LostInWales · 23/07/2012 22:54

Oh I missed that. Grin I would have cackled like mad and then probably had improper thoughts and had to sit down

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 23/07/2012 23:03

evil - snort at 'man with 3 legs'

Feel your pain re wedding, 'tis DS's birthday on Sat. Race starts 10am, his party starts at 11am. WHY??? Will be chucking food on the table and sending the kids outside to play 'Olympics' til the race is over. v bad mummy.

OP posts:
evilgiraffe · 23/07/2012 23:06

I didn't notice it first time round, but it was in the Cav montage before one of last week's stages though - must have been a flat stage but not one he won. I felt so awful because it's just an Isle of Man thing, innit, but at the same time I have SUCH A DIRTY MIND. Probably something he's heard before, though Grin

I shall attempt to get a pillar seat at the wedding!

frostyfingers · 23/07/2012 23:12

Whisper - I emailed Sky Procycling from their contacts info and suggested they might like a look a this.......hope that's ok. Got the usual "thanks for your email" but hope that they do look at it....

Hope I haven't committed a Mumsnet sin.

evilgiraffe · 23/07/2012 23:30

Woo, well done Frosty! I tweeted them yesterday and have been raving about how great he is at Cav far too much but no response. They'll have had so much contact tweets will go unnoticed I would think. Email is a bit more hopeful! What did you say to them? "You have a load of fangirls, who are stalkery in the loveliest of ways" or something a bit less accurate more subtle?

evilgiraffe · 23/07/2012 23:37

Lovely interview, Pan, thanks for linking. I love how honestly surprised he is - as if winning the Tour isn't a major achievement! Even people who dislike cycling know what a big deal it is, so of course we all think he's wonderful.

I'm getting giddy again! Fingers crossed I sleep tonight and don't have lovely people cycling round and round in my head like I did last night... They are brilliant, but not very soporific (granted, this is a good thing!).

ThePan · 23/07/2012 23:45

"You have a load of fangirls, and a bloke who conspicuously doesn't rave about thighs and cheekbones, but he get's it anyway"Grin.
Odd feeling biking today, hoping drivers might accord us a leetle bit more respect. Albeit briefly!
