Oh Wiggins, oh Bradley
I love you quite madley
You look tres sexee
In the yellow jersey
Vous etes tres bon
Avant le peloton
With your mates Cav and Froome
To Paris you'll zoom
Do your side burns help you steer?
When you win I will shed a tear.

squoosh - what is your point?

squoosh · 23/07/2012 11:17

No point at all and not casting any aspersions whatsoever.

Was simply a casual musing.

squoosh · 23/07/2012 11:18

Is that allowed??

mylovelymonster · 23/07/2012 11:23

What have your casual musings got to do with this thread?

squoosh · 23/07/2012 11:25

Oh, I thought it was a thread relating to the Tour de France.

So sorry to have upset you.

mylovelymonster · 23/07/2012 11:26

Who said I was upset?

squoosh · 23/07/2012 11:28

What have your casual musings got to do with this thread?

Ok not upset then, how about proprietorial and paranoid? Nice bit of alliteration there for you.

NarkedRaspberry · 23/07/2012 11:32

A thread celebrating the victory of Bradley Wiggins and you come and post that?

squoosh · 23/07/2012 11:33

My God, it was a throw away thought I had, I'll go and start another thread about bloody Lance Armstrong then.

NarkedRaspberry · 23/07/2012 11:40

Fine. Go talk about doping elsewhere rather than shitting on a thread celebrating the first British man to win the tour.

squoosh · 23/07/2012 11:44

Jesus Christ, I was not shitting on any thread as you so quaintly put it.

I will leave this thread however as 'people' like you put me in a very bad mood first thing on a Monday.

NarkedRaspberry · 23/07/2012 11:51

"There was some chatter in the Twitter-sphere about the comparison between Sky and US Postal," said the AP journalist. "I'm wondering your reaction. And, what do you say to the cynics who say you have to be doped up to win the Tour de France?"

Wiggins, sitting behind a desk in the cabin, picked up the microphone and delivered his message nearly 100 metres away to the press tent.

"Honestly, they're just fucking wankers," Wiggins said. "I cannot be dealing with people like that. It justifies their own bone-idleness because they can't ever imagine applying themselves to anything in their lives. And it's easy for them to sit under a pseudo-name on Twitter and write that sort of shit rather than get off their arses in their own life and apply themselves, and work hard at something and achieve something. And that's ultimately it."

The translator readied to deliver the message in French, but before she could, Wiggins picked up the microphone and sent the final message to the cynics: "Cunts!"

I am no poet all I can come up with is (apologies to Danny boy)

'Oh Bradley Boy, your thighs, your thighs are call-al-ling'
From Alp to Alp and down the mountain side
The tour is done, and all the fans are smiling
The Olympics come and you must go and ride.

So come ye back when Olympics are in London
When Thor Hushvold comes to challenge Cav's prize
We'll all be here shouting for your si-i-dies
Oh Bradley's thighs, we love, we love them so.'

BlushGrinBlush

I have never been inspired to song before, Wiggo you truly are a wonder (but Cav indeed if I had the choice Wink) What a weekend I have cried and laughed and made my throat raw shouting. So proud of of them all.

Pedallleur · 23/07/2012 13:20

If anyone wishes to talk about drugs in sport, start another thread. It's a big subject and suffice to say any performance sport is now affected by it. It's just cycling that seems to take the hit. Little was mentioned of the French 3000m hurdler last week or the Spanish doping ring and nothing is ever mentioned about football/tennis

evilgiraffe · 23/07/2012 13:46

Enough doping chat
Doggerel is our challenge
Focus: Wiggins, please?

I think Wiggo would be quite upset/angry at his name being associated with doping, even in speculation - as per the quote above! Back to the hero worship now, eh?

Also, do you reckon this thread is worthy of making it into Classics?

NovackNGood · 23/07/2012 13:52

I'm surprised how he is not being labeled a plastic brit by the press considering he was born in Belgium.

NarkedRaspberry · 23/07/2012 14:02

To quote Wellington, being born in a stable doesn't make you a horse. His mother is English, his father Australian (and absent for most of his life), and he grew up in Britain.

TigerFeet · 23/07/2012 14:10

^^

Oh Bradders,
I'd need ladders
You are soooooo tall.

So I will have
To just snog Cav.
Can't win 'em all.

fin.

TigerFeet · 23/07/2012 14:22

I think a person's birthplace is immaterial tbh. It's all to do with your parents, where you live, where you feel you belong. I was born overseas to English and Irish parents - I consider myself firmly British.

I wonder if Brad's dw is on MN? when I say snog I'm not on about any sort of sexual harassment or objectification, I just mean a simple congratulatory peck on the cheek, of course

SirEdmundFrillary · 23/07/2012 14:32

There is a young cyclist called Bradley
Who peddles both quickly and gladly
Though the crowds yell for more
His bum's feeling sore
And so are his under-bits, sadly :(

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 23/07/2012 14:37

With apologies to James Thomson & Thomas Arne

To the tune of Rule Britannia

When Bradley first at Sky's command
Arose from out the Peloton.
There was a cry, heard across the land
And even les Francais disent "C'est Bon"

Allez Wiggo, Bradley rides so pure!
A Brit has gone and won the Tour!

gobblegobs · 23/07/2012 14:53

Sheer elation over the weekend. Congratulations Wiggins (champagne emoticon)

gobblegobs · 23/07/2012 14:54

I am not a poet
Alas I do know it
Wiggins did us proud
Not hesitant to shout out loud

Blush that's about all i can manage

Pedallleur · 23/07/2012 15:18

Very rarely do you get to see genuine sporting history made. 1966 World Cup, Redgraves 5 Olympic medals, Sampras/Federers Grand Slam titles and Wiggins TdF victory are of that ilk
