My vagine is itching like mad.

BupcakesandCunting · 16/01/2012 13:01

Namechanged for obvious reasons. :(

My minge is itching like buggery. No discharge/whiffiness, just a very itchy vulva (as per namechange Wink) Have done a Caneten pessary on saturday and been applying the cream but nothing is working.

Suggestions please? And don't say "wash yer minge" Wink

Sorry, didn't mean to freak you out with the worms suggestion. You'd have an itchy bum as well if it was that, so if it's just your fanjo, you're probably fine there.

bonzo77 · 16/01/2012 13:20

I had this. Get GP to swab for candida and do heavy duty treatment with course of oral tablets if swab is positive. It could also be vaginal bacteriosis which is common but easily treated with antibiotics. In the mean time Start washing with aqueous cream. Then air dry ( this is one of the few occasions that a hairdryer is acceptable). Then apply aqueous cream again. You might want to use a pantiliner. If so use the very thin unscented ones. Keep applying the aqueous cream several times a day. This Helped for me and the problem settled in a few weeks. I also stopped taking the Pill as TTC. Obviously don't scratch. Vagisil ointment is useful short term.

GirlWithALlamaTattoo · 16/01/2012 13:20

Have a bath with a few drops of tea tree in it? Works for genital piercings, so I'm told.

BupcakesandCunting · 16/01/2012 13:21

I am NOT checking my minge for cuntworms. I just can't.

Could any of you come and check?

Lol at the name change fail. Just like the 'is that you ucm?' of days gone by. You'll be the new 'phrase' to quote when troll hunting.

If you dont actually have thrush symptoms more just the itch. You can use a 1% hydrocortisone cream which is what doc presribed me once. Normal bite/sting cream is usually a 1%. Or vagisil is designed for itch rather than thrush.

How long has it been going on as you could be dry down there in which case you may need a hormone cream.

garlicfrother · 16/01/2012 13:21

Hokey dokey.
Canesten isn't working so it's not thrush.
Anyone with kids and/or pets can get worms, try dosing yourself with Pripsen.
More likely to be worms if your vagine itches mostly at night.
Could be mild herpes if you caught it ages ago and the stress has caused a little flare-up - does it feel like you've a sore spot?
Not unlikely you've caught chicken pox or shingles from the DC - in which case, my hugest sympathies and get some Zovirax from the doctor pronto.
Use hypo-allergenic shower gel or pure glycerin soap.
Try Lanacaine, it relieves 'non specific' itching.
And have an "aah, there there" for your French flange from me Grin

WinterIsComing · 16/01/2012 13:23

Is that you, UCM Bups?

Cuntworms?

Try sitting in bath of salty water, as if it's thrush this can help kill the yeast and the water is soothing. The same technique but with bicarbonate of soda can help promote healing of the delicate skin in this area.

Natural yoghurt on a tampon/pad can be soothing if sitting in the bath for hours on end isn't practical, but if you're grossed out by washing your vulva in only water and insist on using gel, then I can't see you being comfortable with a yoghurt-soaked tampon TBH.

If you feel the need to use something other than water down there, why not adapt the MN S&B classic oil-cleasing method. It's great for your face and could certainly be adapted for elxseqhere on your body. I use only oil now and have abandoned all other products. I no longer get shaving rash either since I did this. Try substituting gel for a cold-pressed, unscented natural oil (e.g. sweet almond oil). It sounds as though it will be greasy and horrible, but as long as you use a clean warm flannel afterwards to remove the excess oil, you will be left odour-free, feeling clean and refreshed without drying out your skin. Plus there are loads of anti-oxidant properties in something like sweet-almond oil, which is great for your skin.

Hope you feel better soon.

Tinkerisdead · 16/01/2012 13:23

Yes yes aqueous cream works wonders too. Forgot that you'll still feel like you washed properly too.

Gay40 · 16/01/2012 13:23

Mine wasn't itching till I read this thread Sad

FaithHopeAndKevin · 16/01/2012 13:23

It wouldn't hurt just to Pripsen yourself anyway (you can get it online) which would fry any worms travelling from your arsa to your vagine.

Do you have any ingrown hairs?

AtYourCervix · 16/01/2012 13:23
  1. Grin vagine
  1. Grin namechangefail
  1. go to the docs. flash your minge. they'll take a swab.
OffDownTheGardenToEatWorms · 16/01/2012 13:23

It's not cunt worms,

Stop scratching your vagine prevaricating and run a warm bath with a few drops of tea tree oil.

If you can smell the tea tree oil then there's enough in the water, - definitely do not apply to flaps, for the love of god.

BupcakesandCunting · 16/01/2012 13:26

I don't itch at night! So that means no cunt worms innit?! Am running a bath now with tea tree and have got aqueous cream at the ready.

culturemulcher · 16/01/2012 13:27

It sounds as though you've cleared the thrush, but now got yourself a lovely itch-scratch cycle going.

I use a tiny bit of hydrocortisone 1% when this happens, or you could start with H45 which is available over the counter (same range as E45) but has 0.5% hydrocortisone. Should stop the itch within 2 days. Good luck.

Is that you bupcakes? is going to keep me smiling for the rest of the day Grin

ViviPru · 16/01/2012 13:27

"Anyone with ...... pets can get worms"

Shock
culturemulcher · 16/01/2012 13:28

Oh, and a quick question. Is vagine trademarked, or can I re-name my bits?

WelshMoth · 16/01/2012 13:28

Bupcakes I've fallen on the floor laughing at this thread. Disclaimer: But not at your itchy scratchy vagine, that I am sympathetic about.

Straight to your GP for you, young lady, although I'd refrain from saying that you're worried about your flaps/minge/possible cuntworms Grin.
FWIW, I reckon, like me, you've scoffed too much sugar recently. Upsets the balance of things innit.
And leave out the soapy stuff. The thought of using soap down there makes me cringe. Like putting soap in your eyeballs.

nenevomito · 16/01/2012 13:29

Sudocrem. Does wonderful thing when I get an itch.

If it is thrush, you really need the cream as well as a pessary as while the pessary sorts out your insides, it doesn't get rid of it on the outside.

AWimbaWay · 16/01/2012 13:32

I was going to suggest natural yoghurt too, cold from the fridge, very soothing so I've heard, ahem.

BupcakesandCunting · 16/01/2012 13:34

Hmmm I heard natural yoghurt too. I have only got Activia (peach flavour)

BuntyCollocks · 16/01/2012 13:34

Nothing worse than a name change fail an itchy minge! Canestan cream, the capsule, not the pessary and femfresh wash for in the shower. I am bothered with thrush, as is my sister, and her recommendation has saved me from a more regular itch.

I do hate paying premium to wash m'muff, though ...

saladcreamwitheverything · 16/01/2012 13:35

Has DH got any symptoms? Won't do any harm to slap some Canesten on his todger to stop any infection going back and forth!

You never know you might be lucky and it could just be crabs [shudder] Grin

OffDownTheGardenToEatWorms · 16/01/2012 13:35

I think I may have to namechange again after all this, not sure i'll ever feel the same about being referred to as "Wormy" Hmm

VikingBlood · 16/01/2012 13:35

Have you had a Mirena coil fitted recently?
