New to MN but like what I read so far. Struggling to get by day by day at the minute and feeling isolated but not enough to make the effort to join in the 'groups' the whole world seems to think are just what I need!!!!

Have daughter of 4 and girl and boy twins of eight months. Not had time since they were born when all three kids have been well, am I just cursed? Throw in a house move that took 6 months, a partner that works away most of the week and a mother-in-law I can wait another lifetime to deal with and I've ended up the sort of person I used to look at and wonder how life got like that.

Anyone give me hope that when the babes are eighteen months I'll feel better?!! If not, anyone tell me that alternate nights of gin then chocolate is an ok passage through?

Frumpygrumpy you have my sympathy, what a day eh? marslady mine are now 2yrs 5months. Just finished helping dh pack as he is going away for 2 days with work. I know I can cope with the 4 children but am dreading it anyway!

MarsLady · 11/05/2005 21:44

took my DTs to Franch's house today. Poor woman. Everywhere they shouldn't be is where they love to be. Everything they shouldn't touch they love to touch. When I go to other people's homes I realise just how much hard work my DTs are. They are troublesome minxes. We had a lovely time though. DT1 especially liked Franch's DD and they were hugging and kissing.

DH is out at footie tonight and I'm really glad. Tried to get in touch with him today and none of his many phones were on. Then he complained that I didn't call him to let him know how DD1 was getting home. Blimming twit! (Glad to get that off my chest).

How's this evening going fg?

You'll be fine toomany. Haven't seen you around much, maybe we will now that your DH is away.

FrumpyGrumpy · 11/05/2005 22:41

Thanks girls, always good to just share some. Got everyone settled eventually about an hour ago.

By the way, do you know you can't tumble dry plastic backed bibs? I do. I really do. I know that soooo much. And yet I KEEP doing it! Maybe I just have a melted plastic fettish. Or maybe I do really have marshmallows for a brain. Which is good cos I like eating marshmallows and then I'd have no brain so I'd be no worse off but have a nice feeling in my tummy.

So Mars we are glad football was invented then!! U got remote to yourself or doing stuff?

2many good luck for the days and wish you no marshmallow moments!

Scooting to bed.

have remote to myself. Watching Desperate Housewives again. Then watching next week's on E4. DTs are currently doing the s...... thing that they are supposed to do at night. DS1 gone to bed happy as Arsenal beat Everton 7:0

Drinking wine and trying to forget that DH has annoyed me!

Have a good night honey.

FrumpyGrumpy · 11/05/2005 22:54

A big wine glass clink to you Mars. You could always wee on his side of the bed but then I'd save that for when he's annoyed you up to about level 10. I haven't actually done this myself but am saving it for I'm sure there'll come a time ...... .

Off to watch DH now on E4!

toomanypushchairs · 12/05/2005 21:01

Hi, any of you there? Am tired, all children in bed, box of wine in the fridge but am not drinking any incase children need something in the night(Dh away)

toomanypushchairs · 12/05/2005 21:01

didn't mean I was going to give them wine!

Kelly1978 · 13/05/2005 09:05

I couldn't manage at all if my DP went away!

I'm not having a good morniing as it is. It got to 15 mins before we had to leave, and I hadn't eaten, showered, expressed milk, or dressed. DD was wailing about tights that were pulling her knickers down (?), ds1 was semi naked, twins ready to go but wailing. Flat looks like bombs hit it and washign everywhere to put away!

Somehow an hour and half had gone past with me sorting out kids and dp and not actually gettign anythign done. I spent 5 mins screaming at kids and trying to get back on target...then gave up!!

I really don't know what happened to my nice calm morning routine today, so sod it!! I'm still in PJs, and sitting on mumsnet. I feel really guilty for not taking dd to school but I jsut couldn't do it today.

watso313 · 13/05/2005 10:21

You can't be supermum all the time. I have to have my dts and ds ready and out the house by nine in the mornings to get ds to nursery usually end up feeding dts thier breakfast in thier buggy before going out the door whilst yelling at ds to use the bathroom and find his coat, don't have a dh to contend with so that probably easier, still mornings were meant to be hectic that what the rest of the day is for, to recover!
Your dts are only little aren't they? Is there not a trustworhty parent with a child in the same class as dd how could walk her to school even if it just one morning a week to ease things up for you?

Kelly1978 · 13/05/2005 10:31

dts are 7 weeks. I did have soemone walking dd to school while I was ill with the pg, but it's not an option now. I usually get dd there on time, I really don't know what happened this morning. I've got a thumpign headache and just feel so stressed today! Thank God it's Friday.

Kelly1978 · 13/05/2005 10:39

How old are your dts/ds watso?

watso313 · 13/05/2005 14:36

my ds is 3.3 yrs and dts are 9 mths

Kelly1978 · 13/05/2005 16:00

Wow, yours are still young too. Have u got girls/boys?

watso313 · 13/05/2005 16:43

girl/ boy. Yes they are still young and since not so dh left I dont know if I'm on my arse or my elbow, but each day as it comes, they all pretty good kids really so I am lucky, and they are preety good at going to bed and staying there so I get the evenings to reflect (and drink )
How old are your others?

Kelly1978 · 13/05/2005 17:06

Oh, one of each. That must be so nice. I did want two the same, but I often wonder now what a little girl would have looked like. The twins have a diff father to my older two. My ds is 2 and my dd is 4. So I got a bit of a handful atm. Must be pretty tough on ur own with twins. I was pg with ds when I left my exh, so I can remeber those quiet eves with a glass of wine and reflections very well. I quite enjoyed it tbh, although it is bloody hard work. I think I wou;d scream if I had to go it alone with 4 tho!

watso313 · 13/05/2005 17:26

screaming is a good option,i do celine dion on headphones at full blast, not always the best idea but still early days. Everyone tells me that the twins look an awful lot like each other. I cant see it myself I think dt1 (boy) looks just like xdh and t2 (girl) looks just like me.Ds is complete mixture of both but he got blonde hair and i dont know where that came from!!

Kelly1978 · 13/05/2005 17:36

my dt2 looks like me, quite girly really. dt1 looks just like daddy - very dark skinned and dark eyes, hair etc. I'm fair and blondish. Someone asked me if they were actually mine, looking at dt1. You can see my brood here
Headphones sound liek a great idea to me! Cept god knows wht ds would get up to. Whereabouts are you?

watso313 · 13/05/2005 17:53

Wow their all gorgeous!! it seems like such a long time ago that mine were that didi. I am in clacton on sea which is in essex, where are you?only do headphones when they all in bed otherwise they all want a go too!

Kelly1978 · 13/05/2005 18:13

thanks
I live in croydon, london. I used to live on the coast til last year (great yarmouth) I really miss it, tho I wouldn't want to move back permanantly. we moved to croydon because of dp work.

toomanypushchairs · 14/05/2005 12:03

kelly1978 your children are lovely. I think I've got it hard with 4, but how do you manage? I think i'd struggle even more if the older two weren't as old as they are!(they're 7 1/2 and 10)
Am sitting here having my hair brushed by one of my dt's(I hate it!). He's upset because the other one has gone out with his Dad.
btw it's nice to see them dressed differently, mine are always dressed differently, sometimes they were dressed the same when they were tiny, but not anymore.

Kelly1978 · 15/05/2005 10:44

Thanks TMpushchairs. I manage cos I have to, sometimes it's easier than others. Have you seen the Croydon Ikea meet up thread? Even if you can't make that, it would be great to meet up sometime, if you are up for it. Xena said you might be interested.

dd and ds have both got really bad sickness and diarrhoa (sp?) again atm. Was up thru the night cleanign up puddles. I really don't understand why they keep getting this, it is every month now, and it takes ages to go again.
I prefer the dts to have co-ordinating rather than identical clothes. Cos they are so different they look strange in the same outfits! Apart from a few bits, most of their outfits jsut match rather than are identical. I think it will be even less as they get older, and inherit lots of clothes from ds1.

How is every1 else doing?

MarsLady · 15/05/2005 10:48

morning kelly. Because my DTs are girl/boy I dress them differently, but sometimes when I look at them i see that I have dressed them in the same colours so I'm far more co ordinated than I planned. lol

DH has been promoted and changed his job so I have to do the school run in the mornings. He's about to do 2 overnights a week so that'll be interesting! Thankfully the older 3 can pretty much sort themselves.

Kelly1978 · 15/05/2005 11:24

Great to hear abt promotion, tho school runs are going to be hard. I really dislike mornings, it's such a rush even when the routine is ok - I always breath a huge sigh of relief once dd is at school!
I'm actually really fed up with the school tho, dd keeps gettign stomach bugs from there and I really don't know what to do about it.

MarsLady · 15/05/2005 11:27

Are you sure that the stomach bugs are from there?
