I'm bearing Jelly Tots - how does that stack up? I'd love to be bringing G&Ts but this may well be my only successful alcohol free Jan ever due to being pg for 1st time...

Schmauskin, welcome fellow newbie.

Low carb ideas that work for me: Greek Salad, make mash out of e.g. swede & carrot or butternut squash instead of pots, curry or stew with chickpeas and lots of veggies (or of course meat and lots of veggies).

Am dreading going back to work (thankfully not commuting until Tuesday, but have to face reality with some working from home tomorrow) - really sleeping badly this week. I've got a pillow under my bump and supporting the upper knee when on my side and up to now, this has been working very well, but may need some reinforcements from now on. Any ideas? Is it worth getting a 'DreamGenii' or a v-shaped pillow?

HarrogateMum · 04/01/2009 17:38

oh 1stMrsF welcome to you too!!

Re the pillow - I found those V shaped ones far too big. I used to put a simple cushion under my bump to support it and to this day I still sleep with a cushion under my tummy (the DTs are now 4....plus DD aged 2)

shabster · 04/01/2009 17:42

My belly is better than a pillow when I go to sleep and my twins are 27 (years not months!!) My grandson - Lewis - loves using my belly for a trampoline!!! So glad I have my uses

This pregnancy lark better not come in threes. It cant be mine or Trips turn - we are like mature bottles of vintage wine. Frumpster how great would it be for you to have another set of twins - I could knit for you and we would all help

Schmauskin · 04/01/2009 18:13

triplets - not that impressed with San Diego. Lot so unfortunate homeless people on quite dismal dirty streets, but the coast is pretty, so the first part of our drive back up to LA should be nice (after the sodding animal park).

Yes, we are both Brits. DH is Jason Durr and he's playing Alan Daniels (the prime suspect).

shabster · 04/01/2009 18:43

WOW just googled your other half!!! I remember him from Heartbeat. He is rather nice to look at if you dont mind me saying so

We lived in USA 1980/1981. Our friends live in Provo, Utah (yes they are Mormons!!!) we didn't want to come home and have never settled down properly since. We were offered jobs in Santa Barbara and Las Vegas - working at Motel6!! Dont know if they even still exist - they were the cheapest of motels. One of the questions we were asked in our interview was - 'If you have a murder in the motel the police will take the body but you have to clean up after they have - do you think you can do that??' [jaw drop emoticon!!]

My favourite place is San Francisco - plenty of nutters there so we fitted in perfectly.

Will be watching ITV at 9 - Big Brother is already getting on my nerves - Coolio asking for his PJ's last night was the final straw!!

Schmauskin · 04/01/2009 18:55

shabs - we once stayed in a Motel 6 and it was soooo scary. Put a chair under the door handle 'cos of all the screaming in the corridor outside or room at 3am...

shabster · 04/01/2009 18:57

LOL - I knew there was some reason why they kept offering us managers jobs all the time!!! Bet they thought - oh look here are some hard working Northerners - lets put them in grave danger and pay them nish!!!!

Schmauskin · 04/01/2009 19:04

they say America is so big there are multiple serial killers on the loose that the police have no idea exist. On that happy thought I MUST drag my pregnant arse out of bed and get ready to look at Girraffes...groan.

1stMrsF · 04/01/2009 19:05

hmm, I think you are right about the 'special' pillows being too big. DH is already complaining there isn't much room for him....

Cushions instead of pillows is a remarkably simple idea I had not thought of (pregnancy brain ) we'll give some of those a try tonight. DH will just have to cling on to the edge [

HarrogateMum · 04/01/2009 19:06

Schmauskin - I have a work colleague who your DH may know. She was in Heartbeat for a while playing Jackie?

When do you plan to come back to the UK then?

Shabs - you are one well travelled lady! I learn more about you every day!

Schmauskin · 04/01/2009 19:08

Fiona Dolman?

HarrogateMum · 04/01/2009 19:09

yes - Fiona! She is fab - only comes in between jobs but so down to earth and lovely.

Schmauskin · 04/01/2009 19:11

Give her our best - I met her a number of times when I visited Jase on set, she is a lovely..

HarrogateMum · 04/01/2009 19:15

will do if she is in when I go back to work tomorrow!

Shabs - I want ot know what your answer was when you were asked if you could clean up after a dead body....!

D'y ever wonder if people would use your tummy as a life float in a boating accident?

D'y ever wonder whether Baileys ice-cubes are twee?

D'y ever wonder why your eyes are bigger than your belly?

I do.
