Well Shabs, I can't stand by when I feel I have something to say so go for it my friend xxx.

Nikos is winking at you. Yes YOU. He needs you.

Right. Will I shower or will I get sweaty first?

shabster · 03/01/2009 12:06

LOL - I am afraid that Nikos 'the beautiful one' is not aware I exist - I am the same age as his mum If he does want me he is doing a great job of pretending he doesn't Wouldnt know what to do with him if I got him.......................well maybe I would

1stMrsF · 03/01/2009 12:08

Ladies, I'm just starting to get my head around buying things for the babies (non ID twin girls due May, my first babies) and I would be very grateful for your opinions on this thread if you have experienced the Mountain Buggy Urban or the Out n About Nipper 360

Thank you very much in advance for any thoughts

fgwavesJackieParsonspants · 03/01/2009 12:33

Sorry no experience of those buggies but someone will...........LG&T is the buggy queen. WHERE IS SHE???? She must be due her babe ANY minute!!!

Shabs, I didn't realise it was Kawasaki Syndrome JT's son has. It was Kawasaki Disease/Stevens Johnston Syndrome my DD1 had 3 Christmases ago. The worst time I of my life without any doubt.

shabster · 03/01/2009 12:41

I had never heard of it before Frumpster - that sounds very scary. Couple of people on that thread veeeeeeeeeeeeery out of order (as usual) same old names.

fgwavesJackieParsonspants · 03/01/2009 13:41

Hi girls, did any of you buy a twins book when you found out you were expecting? Whats your favourite? I read Carol Cooper's mince and found it was mince I need to make a recommendation. Ta!

fgwavesJackieParsonspants · 03/01/2009 13:45

Shabs, its a fairly rare and hideous disease/syndrome and, unless doctors have come up against it before, the diagnosis can be too late They can't rule out that my DD1 could get it again or that the DTs might get it. Our consultant couldn't ever decide between Kawasaki or Stevens Johnston Syndrome as they can have similar symptoms. Both are hideous. I watch like a hawk when my kids get ill and I never believe GPs.

shabster · 03/01/2009 15:00

OMG that is frightening - Im sure the other syndrome was mentioned with regards to Jett Travolta as well. Mumsnet have pulled all the threads about him as they have received so many complaints. Sods - I was enjoying myself - I like a heated debate especially when I am behaving myself.

No wonder you worry when your DC aren't well xxx

1stMrsF · 03/01/2009 19:27

Thank you, I already have some opinions on my buggy thread from some of you . In return, re: Twins books. I'm struggling to find anything that isn't American, but the two that have been of some use so far are 'Twins!' by Connie Agnew & Alan Klein (American, so all healthcare and hospital stuff useless, but has a month by month how your babies are growing and lots of very interesting stuff about twins, plus sections where twin parents discuss aspects of twin parenting) and Double Trouble by Emma Mahoney (UK based and quite up to date, but you have to get over her slightly smug 'I had a natural home birth with private midwives' standpoint). I also feel that Jackie Clunes book Extreme Motherhood about having triplets gave me the most realistic view of what it might be like to have multiple babies at once (and provided some slight comfort that whatever it's like, her experience must surely be worse...)

1stMrsF · 03/01/2009 19:30

PS Have been goaded into action by the challenge to the 'young ones' with no staying power so will be a bit braver about posting more often. Thanks for being so welcoming of us newbies

shabster · 03/01/2009 19:32

thats the spirit love xx

estarofwonder · 03/01/2009 21:14

Evening all. FG - what a nightmare experience, how did you manage to keep nice and polite? The most shocking bit was giving three children one slice of toast to share!!!

Has anyone heard from LG&T? I know she's due soon and is normally early. What other threads does she normally post on?

estarofwonder · 04/01/2009 01:05

Just checked on facebook - as of 8 hours ago she is still waiting to hatch

shabster · 04/01/2009 10:42

Good morning girls xx

shabster · 04/01/2009 12:48

Anyone know how LG&T is going on?????

Its very quiet on here again - cant wait for Tom going back to school tomorrow. He has been off for over 3 weeks because he was ill the last week of term.

fgwavesJackieParsonspants · 04/01/2009 14:46

Hi 1st, thanks for your book suggestions x. My tip is to jump in here and chat like you've never been away, most of the time it works And if you bring things to eat and drink or hoover, you get to sit in the recliner

estar, it was hard but I just kept counting down as to when we would leave because I know I won't be doing it ever again. As I say, lovely couple when we spend just a few hours together and with no children. Tha'ts how it should remain. How did Christmas go btw? Did you get away with the children's present thing or did they comment about the ones in the loft? I was telling a friend about it and she was gutted for you.

As you can plainly see, I am removing all lights, decorations, cards, paintings, drawings, cotton wool snowmen, christmas trees, advent Santa, advent tree, sticky glittery things and packing them into boxes. You can see that I am can't you?

No carbs starts Tuesday. Meal suggestions welcome.

HarrogateMum · 04/01/2009 15:07

piece of meat or fish...loads of roasted veggies (courgette, pepper, aubergine etc.) Stuffed mushrooms.

Massive omelettes with lots of filling.

Erm..steak and salad.

Canellinin bean mash is good with meat and veg?

Thats all I can think of for now!

HarrogateMum · 04/01/2009 15:07

ps did another run today.

But booze free jan was knocked on the head on day 3 by 3/4 of a bottle of wine. Hey ho.
Better luck next year~!

frumpygrumpy · 04/01/2009 15:18

Thanks doll, will you cook it all and send by DHL?

When the time is right to be alcohol free, it will be right. Something is preventing you (and me). Either its just part of our lives or we need it. Doesn't make anyone incapable of doing it, its just that the time isn't right. Our time will come. And we have here in the meantime. xxx

HarrogateMum · 04/01/2009 15:24

of course FG! I did low carb myself once but I miss pasta and potatoes too much!

frumpygrumpy · 04/01/2009 15:28

I find I crave the carbs for 2/3 days and feel hungry and headachey........then it passes and I start to feel really good and light and never hungry. Doesn't make any difference to my waistline though.........

triplets · 04/01/2009 16:52

Good afternoon everyone! Well we had a lovely evening last night, though we are bith shattered now! I cooked, chicken curry, beef curry, prawn curry, rice, dhal, bombay potatoes, bhajis etc, naan bread. Then cocolate pots with brandy snaps, raspberry trifle and a lemon meringue pie! Last guest left at 1.30am! Cleared most of it up before we went to bed, H lasted the whole evening though I could see he was tired. Up at 8am and spent all morning taking the decs down, been to Tesco and Homebase this afternoon, and now feel ready to collapse! Good job the kids go back on Tues, tomorrow is getting their kit ready!

Schmauskin · 04/01/2009 16:59

frumpythegrumpy reindeer - thanks for the greeting.welcome. Jeez. I just read of your NY experience - how the hell did you managed to breath through it? I'd have told her to FUCK off with bells on.....in awe of you patience and good manners.

I am in San Diego, and after a night of bvery little sleep (can't sleep on my tummy already and up about 10 times to pee - the last thing I feel like doing is going to the fricking Wild Animal Park. Still a promise, is a promise (esp. to a 4 year old)

I would rather be curled up in front of a fire in dear old Blighty watching English telly - talking of which , my husband is an actor and he's on ITV1 tonight (9pm) in Above Suspicion. Do watch if you can (I know it's up against Celebrity Big Brother) but it's a v. good drama. Second part is tomorrow.

triplets · 04/01/2009 17:09

..........we have a celebrity girls!
Whats his name and what part is he playing? I went to San Diego in 1991, guess its changed quite abit since then. Are you originally both from the uk?

HarrogateMum · 04/01/2009 17:11
