Have you seen this? (I nicked it from an email from another forum ) but it made me .

Dear Santa,

I've been a good mum all year. I've fed, cleaned and cuddled my children on demand, visited the doctor's office more than my doctor, sold sixty-two cases of choc bars to raise money to plant a shade tree on the school playground.

I was hoping you could spread my list out over several Christmases, since I had to write this letter with my son's red crayon, on the back of a receipt in the laundry room between cycles, and who knows when I'll find anymore free time in the next 18 years.

Here are my Christmas wishes:

I'd like a pair of legs that don't ache (in any colour, except purple, which I already have) and arms that don't hurt or flap in the breeze; but are strong enough to pull my screaming child out of the lolly aisle in the grocery store.
I'd also like a waist, since I lost mine somewhere in the seventh month of my last pregnancy.
If you're hauling big ticket items this year I'd like fingerprint resistant windows, a radio that only plays adult music; a television that doesn't broadcast any programs containing talking animals; and a refrigerator with a secret compartment behind the crisper where I can hide to talk on the phone.
On the practical side, I could use a talking doll that says, "Yes, Mummy" to boost my parental confidence, along with two kids who don't fight and three pairs of jeans that will zip all the way up without the use of power tools.
I could also use a recording of Tibetan monks chanting "Don't eat in the living room" and "Take your hands off your brother," because my voice seems to be just out of my children's hearing range and can only be heard by the dog.

If it's too late to find any of these products, I'd settle for enough time to brush my teeth and comb my hair in the same morning, or the luxury of eating food warmer than room temperature without it being served in a Styrofoam container.

If you don't mind, I could also use a few Christmas miracles to brighten the holiday season. Would it be too much trouble to declare tomato sauce a vegetable? It will clear my conscience immensely. It would be helpful if you could coerce my children to help around the house without demanding payment as if they were the bosses of an organized crime family.

Well, Santa, the buzzer on the dryer is ringing and my son saw my feet under the laundry room door. I think he wants his crayon back. Have a safe trip and remember to leave your wet boots by the door and come in and dry off so you don't catch cold. Help yourself to cookies on the table but don't eat too
many or leave crumbs on the carpet.

Yours Always, MUM...!

P.S. One more thing...you can cancel all my requests if you can keep my children happy, healthy and always believing.

Oh TK - just had my first laugh and first cry of the day reading that fantastic letter. I am a blubbing festive nutcase at the moment.

I've just had a look at all the moldies stuff too HM - soemthing to do with cliques and flouncing

oh I do so love being off work

tkband3 · 22/12/2008 14:31

I've wasted far too much of my time in the last 24 hours reading a couple of the threads on this moldie thing.

Basically, around the time Cod left, some of the other 'oldies' left as well. One (I think it was Twiglett) found another, protected forum that was set up a while ago (possibly around the time of the GF debacle) and they all decided to start posting there instead. Then they thought they missed a few people so started sending invitations to other MNers. There are all sorts of rumours about initiation procedures etc which are probably not true, but you do have to be invited by another 'moldie' to join and the others have to agree .

Then Justine put something in the blog about some oldies flouncing and being replaced by newbies, to which some of the moldies took offence and one started a thread about it. Up until then, only the moldies knew they existed, although lots of people had noticed the absence of formerly regular posters. Now, though, the cat was out of the bag and lots of people are offended by the existence of this 'alternative' Mumsnet and the fact you have to be 'invited' to join. Others don't give a flying f*ck . But it's all caused lots of nastiness at what should be a time of goodwill to all Mumsnetters .

Hope that helps - but don't take it as gospel, I was reading one of the threads late last night (am I did now, as I was then up half the night with DT2 - could have done with that extra hour!!).

pinkfrogsroastingonanopenfire · 22/12/2008 15:35

The 'nasty and intimidating' threads on MN are the one revolting side of this site. Even if you go on and express your own opinion in an honest and open way you will be 'shot down in flames', ridiculed, reported and end up wishing you had never bothered.

I can easily find a million problems in my own family without having to give a flying feck what 'mouldies' 'oldies' 'original MN's' etc etc are up to.

Strange people in my opinion.

If they get me again Merry Christmas my friends and a very Happy New Year xxxx

I've been cleaning. 10 bin bags out for the bin men to whisk away tomorrow . Plus several bags for the charity shop.

My FIL visited us at the weekend. Dcs were so excited to see him. He brought loads of photos with him for dh to scan so I had a giggle over the childhood pics. DH was a blond, I feel cheated lol.

ChristMarsSleighdy · 22/12/2008 21:51

MrPixi has made me a very happy Mars

ChristMarsSleighdy · 22/12/2008 21:56

Oh and Pixi... could you text MrPixi and tell him to look into the bag I sent home with him. There's something you may need him to open now as I see he won't be home before Christmas Eve Night. No it's NOT tassles... we've played with those already!

silentnightnotatripletinsight · 22/12/2008 23:14

Here I am! Guess what, those darn boys are still awake, their father and sister are blotto, what to do?? Harry foolishly let then stay up to watch The Brothers Grimm, thought it was going to be a nice fairy tale, they will all be awake half the night now screaming! Think I am finally finished, did make the mince pies with Jamess help in the end, do love my own.............so modest arent I? Hows everyone else doing? Harry is doing well, not half so tired and is eating much better, just abit crabby at times. Take last night, door bell goes at 9pm, he and James answer it, three very pretty teenage girls all in lovely Christmas hats burst out singing a carol, sweet voices, I rushed to the door thinking ahhhhhh. They sing 4 lines then H says, "come on, we`ve got kids waiting to go to bed"! Begrudgingly gives them pound.............bah humbug!!

pinkfrogsroastingonanopenfire · 22/12/2008 23:20

Hiya Trips - the brothers Grimm still scare the pants off me!!

silentnightnotatripletinsight · 22/12/2008 23:22

pinkfrogsroastingonanopenfire · 22/12/2008 23:23

silentnightnotatripletinsight · 22/12/2008 23:25

YEH...............she looked amazing,

pinkfrogsroastingonanopenfire · 22/12/2008 23:26

She did look lovely - tell you what tho Trips - if it made me look like the most beautiful woman in the world I would NEVER, EVER, EVER get married again!!

silentnightnotatripletinsight · 22/12/2008 23:29

No nor me my friend, blimey that wedding must have cost fortune, and more to the point why were we not asked to be bridesmaids

silentnightnotatripletinsight · 22/12/2008 23:30

So what are your plans for the big day?

pinkfrogsroastingonanopenfire · 22/12/2008 23:34

Dan, Em and Lewis plus us 3 for full English breakfast at some unearthly hour! Then my Mum and Dad and us 3 for Xmas Dinner about 3pm.

Trips is your Matthew 30 now? There is a new mummy on the bereaved thread who lost her son Oli a few weeks ago just before his 21st - she is called Everlong.
