Only round the corner, book club meeting and supper, felt guilty leaving DH as he is feeling so rotten, but needed just to be amongst friends for a little while. Trouble is I am now wide awake! Shabs, please will you mail me your new abode, will it still be Shabster Towers

shabster · 14/07/2008 23:16

There are places I remember..........

Lovely words..........
What a day Shabs, H has been in bed all day, looks so very ill. I behind his back, rang the chemo unit to ask advice. They said it is the chemo making him feel so awful, he has a blood test tomorrow so they will be able to tell more from that. Left a message for the stoma nurse, she rang tonight, she thinks his main problem is dehydration, so he may have to go into hospital and be put on a drip before his chemo on Thurs!! Walked along the beach today with another Mum from school, she said she had been wanting to talk to me for weeks, her husband is terminal with prostate and bone cancer. They have a 9 yr old daughter. She said to me, you and I are going to need each other, I felt like screaming that I didn`t want to be her partner in all this. My neighbour Irene went off this morning at 8.30pm after a doctor on call went to her house at 11pm last Frid to tell her her blood test showed a b/count of 4.5, the doctor was going to send her to the hospital, they have not come back, she has had a persistant cough for 2 years and has lost weight. This is the kids god mum, the one who fell out with me over the high chair? I had better go to bed, sports day tomorrow if DH is up to it, kale nits Shabs xxxxx

shabster · 14/07/2008 23:40

Night night honey - wish I could help you.

It is Toms leavers assembly tomorrow and he has a solo singing part - is not worried about it - I bet I will cry before he does.

Thinking of you and holding you close in my heart. Kale Nits xxxxxx

Hi all, not a bad night for me althogh Esther still wants me to sleep with her. Theo went from 1am till 6.30am so at least that left me free for the demanding one!

I expressed bottles for them last night for the 7pm and 10pm feeds cos they had been so unsettled in previous evenings and nights - I think if I do too much in the day then my milk supply is too low to feed both babies well. If I just sat on my arse all day I am sure I wouldn have plenty of milk but that is just not me unfortunately. It worked well anyway, they were very settled between 7 and 10 but then took a bit of encouragement to get to sleep after their 10pm feed.

Esther didn't want to feed as much as she had in previous nights, but she still wanted me with her. Theo took a bit of settling too and I BF'd him to sleep at about 1am, but then he slept through. Esther dropped off properly at about 3am so we slept till 6am. I only dozed with her before that - MIL is coming at 8.15am to take them out for 90 mins so I can go back to bed. Bliss!

All BFing experts out there - is it OK to express and give them that at 7pm and 10pm? It relaxes me cos I know they have had a good feed and I don't worry if I want to go out for a long walk or something in the afternoon.

largeginandtonic · 15/07/2008 10:32

Shabs fab news on the house! Get down to B&Q and start picking out paint! I love decorating, not with small children though, they always want to 'help'

Trips i am sorry H seems so rough, there are good days and bad days with the chemo though. Hopefully if they up his fluids he will start to feel more human again. Glad you could escape for a few hours last night.

I could do with a few hours off, no chance of that! I have a chap round to fix my boiler, has been tits up since Friday before last. Gah!

Ooogs how are you feeling now? I am coming out the other side but still feel queezy and light headed. I think it may really be a GIRL

ChopsTheDuck · 15/07/2008 16:08

Thank god sports day is over for another year. I'm a numpty and wore jeans and so was melting out on that field while watching ds1. Ds1 enjoyed himself, but managed to boot the cones across the field, fall off the space hopper, squash the hula hoop and start humping another child. I do wonder what people think when they see him like that. I almost want to put a tshirt on him to explain that he isn't naughty he has disablities. Oh well, at least it is over for another year.

How's everyone else today?

tkband3 · 15/07/2008 20:50

Oh god, sports day! I got dragged into the mums' race, which was a big mistake as I needed the loo at the time and my pelvic floor ain't what it used to be . Fortunately DT1 fell over, so I was able to compose myself whilst hauling her to her feet .

We all had a wonderful time yesterday with Mars and 3 of her DCs. They all made a beach in the sandpit in the garden, with DH (who was conveniently home from work) while Mars and I put the world to rights in the kitchen and I attempted to cook tea - which was delayed somewhat by our gassing .

2 days off for DD1 cos of this UNISON strike, so I've got her into the DTs pre-school - she used to go there, so is delighted at the thought. I'm not quite ready for the holidays to start just yet! I'm hoping the sun shines in the afternoon though.

Trips, sorry to hear H is not doing so well. Hope he has been better today.

estar · 15/07/2008 21:09

Oh crap. Sat down for a good natter and DS4 has woken up after an hour's sleep - that's just enough to keep him going until oooooo..... midnight, d'y reckon?

It's all my fault - I had a fleeting thought involving an early night a few moments ago. He obviously heard it.

estar · 15/07/2008 21:29

So I've finished cleaning up the liquid poo from the bed to my finger nails, and have a small, very alert naked child crawling around the lounge.

Any suggestions?

triplets · 15/07/2008 22:21

Come on here for a natter and its awful quiet! Thought theyd be dozens of messages to catch up on, where is everybody?? I am not going to dwell on my day, except to say poor Dh has been very sick and in bed all day, can barely stand, how he is going to get through chemo on Thurs and travel 22 miles to see the oncologist I dont know.
He missed his first sports day today, my back was killing me but as you do, I sat there through all the sack races etc, at least it was warm! Anybody got any good news??
Shabs.........just wanted to say I think you are amazing xxx

triplets · 15/07/2008 22:22

Estar........did I say thank you for Matthews card? I was sooooo touched xx

estar · 15/07/2008 22:43

You did Trips, and you're very welcome. He was just nine days older than me, so I'll remember that date every year!

I have some good news - my DT2 who has caused us so much worry because of his lack of speech and unreadiness for school, has made huge leaps and bounds in the last couple of weeks (after we paid for him to have a few SLT lessons ) and he is getting enough financial support for them to get an extra classroom assistant in reception! We've had to fight tooth and nail, but I'm finally starting to relax about the thought of them going to school .

triplets · 15/07/2008 22:51

Fantastic news Estar, its awful though to have to battle isn`t it? I have just upset myself, such a sad story on the bereavement thread of a wee little boy who died of something I have not heard of before, Krabbes disease, poor poor little boy, its really upset me.
