Thought it might be a good idea to have a separate thread for a meet up if we are serious about doing it (I know I am, what a laugh it would be!!).

Put your name down here and when we get a few names I will give out my email address so we can sort it properly rather than online.

I think the following are interested - take your name off and copy and paste if not, add if interested!!

So far thinking maybe a house in the Cotswolds or somewhere Midlands-ish to cater for all!

HM
FG
Dingdong
Triplets
Momma
Tkb
Estar
Chops?????

MarsLady · 23/01/2008 23:54

The only child that will be there will be the one that will have been incredibly recently born.

Now stop moaning on Custy and pack your bag you trollop!

largeginandtonic · 24/01/2008 08:07

dh he says yeeeeeeeeeesssss

Now just how many bottles of gin shall i bring?

estar · 24/01/2008 11:13

Okay, so Frumpy's plan is "everyone swanking in for around Saturday 1pm, lunching with wine, going to sleep for a couple of hours, waking up, sharing hair straighteners over bubbly and heading out for dinner. Staying out till we can laugh no more, eating crap on the way home, waking up jaded but managing a fry up before tearful farewells around 12noon on the Sunday"

Do we all want to go for that, or (if I can be so cheeky) can I suggest a plan B?

Meet up, have lunch, then go CHILD-FREE shopping (can't remember the last time I did it!) for the afternoon, interspersed with coffees, then get a take-out in the evening and all hang out together, playing funny games, drinking whatever LG&T brings and getting to know each other, staying up late. Sunday - as above!

It depends how everyone would prefer to spend their child-free time and whether you're a going-outer or a staying-inner.

Just saying it now cos it may affect where we choose to stay - like individual hotel rooms, or a house with a big lounge so we can see each other.

Cast your votes please!

Tortington · 24/01/2008 11:15

where si it goingt o be have you decide yet

BTW i hate shopping

custy plan for custy

get there early evening - get pissed and pass out - wake up - go home refuse to leave the setee for 2 days

Chopster · 24/01/2008 11:33

I'd def like to go out in the evening , I rarely get to go out in the evening. So I'm much mroe up for FG's plan, but we could even do shopping in the afternoon and then still go out for getting pissed food.

HarrogateMum · 24/01/2008 13:15

I think the hotel in a city for one night is a good plan - are we agreeing on Birmingham? One night takes the cost down, plus houses for weekends are invariably for three nights and as I understand it hardly anyone will be able to do that.

The CIty Inn in Brum is quite nice I have stayed there before.....will need to check prices.

The link is here

Its £70 per night for a twin room - so only £35 each! I think the easiest way if all are up for it is to get into pairs and if we are all agreed book individually - then if worst comes to worst and it gets full then there are other hotels around, as long as we are all together for big meal/piss up in the evening and for shopping etc surely it doesnt matter where we all stay!

Right Dingdong as we would probably travel together, d'ya fancy sharing a room (I dont snore and have good personal hygiene)

theslownorris · 24/01/2008 13:26

Who's coming from my direction? If you can get to me first I don't mind sharing transport.

theslownorris · 24/01/2008 13:27

Should have said I'm in Dorset!!

BibiThree · 24/01/2008 18:20

I can do B'ham, I can do that weekend - WOO HOO!

Don't know how I'll get there at the mo, prob the train or smelly bus.

Ddon't mind sharing a room but I think it's only fair to warn whoever the unfortunate soul who shares with me that I do snore... like a big fella after a heavy night!

My plan would be a nice lunch and a few glasses of vino, a rest or shopping in the afternoon then a FAT meal and lots more vino and drunken chatter in a pub at night.

iamdingdong · 24/01/2008 19:09

yes to Birmingham, yes to that weekend, yes to travelling with HM, I'll pick you up en route and yes to sharing a room can't wait

HarrogateMum · 24/01/2008 20:47

Right so thats two at least!! Anyone else or are me and Dingdong going on our own!!

OP posts:
iamdingdong · 24/01/2008 20:49

hey hm if that's the case lets do leeds instead

estar · 24/01/2008 23:29

I'm in! Anyone wanna share a room?

Bit wierd, actually, isn't it, because we don't know each other and here we are planning to share a night together (oo-er!)

What if someone is picked last? Or gets left without a partner?

estar · 24/01/2008 23:31

Unless someone takes the lead, makes a list, then asigns partners..........?

(asigns?) (assigns?)

(why do neither of them look right?)

estar · 24/01/2008 23:34

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA

My asterisks went horribly wrong.

I think I'm on a chocolate high.

I'm going to bed now before anybody finds me.

Chopster · 25/01/2008 08:01

Right, dp has said yes!!! Grabs a cloth and lays a moonlit table for estar Would you like to share with me?

HarrogateMum · 25/01/2008 08:11

Hooray so.......

HM/Dingdong
Estar/Chopster

Come on where are all the others who said they would be up for it!

OP posts:
HarrogateMum · 25/01/2008 08:46

PS If we do go with Birmingham, and we do stay at the City Inn, its in an area called Brindleyplace which has lots of restaurants etc round it as well, theres a Bank restaurant, a Thai place, a Cantonese, a Pizza Express etc plus more. Check out the link here

triplets · 25/01/2008 09:44

Bit of a nightmare for me from Deal, it would take three train changes and its too early to book an apex return so far.

HarrogateMum · 25/01/2008 09:57

Hi Triplets - I see what you are saying - I was trying to find something that was more central for everyone (e.g. FG coming from Edinburgh) and easier for all to get to by public transport. Obviously we all need to be in agreement so hope no-one thinks I am just taking over, I would just really like to meet everybody incase our Aus move does come off in the summer and think concrete plans are required to make sure it happens!

triplets · 25/01/2008 10:04

Thats ok, its just for me I have to change at London, the coach would take all day!
