Thought it might be a good idea to have a separate thread for a meet up if we are serious about doing it (I know I am, what a laugh it would be!!).

Put your name down here and when we get a few names I will give out my email address so we can sort it properly rather than online.

I think the following are interested - take your name off and copy and paste if not, add if interested!!

So far thinking maybe a house in the Cotswolds or somewhere Midlands-ish to cater for all!

HM
FG
Dingdong
Triplets
Momma
Tkb
Estar
Chops?????

how about the bank hol weekend at the end of may?

frumpygrumpy · 22/01/2008 20:50

FG posted this on the other thread then cut and pasted it in here.......

"What is this talk of shopping? Does 'meet up' not mean everyone swanking in for around Saturday 1pm, lunching with wine, going to sleep for a couple of hours, waking up, sharing hair straighteners over bubbly and heading out for dinner? Staying out till we can laugh no more, eating crap on the way home, waking up jaded but managing a fry up before tearful farewells around 12noon on the Sunday? I have children to mother FGS "

frumpygrumpy · 22/01/2008 20:52

Just to throw it in.......I can travel anywhere, don't consider me when thinking of location. I have a helicopter remember.

BibiThree · 22/01/2008 20:58

End of May would give me time to save as £££ will be a problem after this month. SMP is sh*te, but more welcome than no £££ at all

oooggs · 22/01/2008 21:02

momma - of course I can pop up to Exeter and see you and Tripley when you are about.

HG...........been looking for large properties, just out of interest look at Owners Direct
Suffolk
Prop E30
Looks lovely, got a chalet extra, sleep up to 14, good pricing and availability.
Something like that would be nice, we are prob looking for 7+ bedrooms? What have we started!!

triplets · 22/01/2008 22:05

Frumpy, as I don`t drive could you zip down and pick me up in your helicopter

estar · 22/01/2008 22:40

I'm easy

Yep, May works for me. I've put this on the other thread: May I request to whoever is looking into where that it's somewhere near a railway station. Suspect that most of us will have to leave cars behind for our poor unfortunate other halves while they try and keep the DCs entertained without us....mwah ha ha ha ha ha!

estar · 22/01/2008 22:47

Okay, showing my ignorance - where are the Cotswolds?

According to Google maps, its a cul-de-sac in Hatfields

triplets · 22/01/2008 22:50

Good thinking Estar, we are going ourselves to Wroxham, Norfolk Broads in Feb half term. That place would be ideal, Wroxham has a train station, the lodges sleep 8/10 each, there are two lodges that inter connect so could have 8 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms, all within walking distance of shops, pubs etc, on the river, and out of season comes with a launch! Anyone interested look up Daisy Broad Lodges!

triplets · 22/01/2008 22:51

Oxfordshire! Lovely area but pricey!

estar · 22/01/2008 22:52

And........ (suddenly not sounding so easy), think Suffolk or anywhere far easterly will be a bit of a nightmare for me. I like the idea of Midlands cos that's west enough for the Devon crew to join in, no?

estar · 22/01/2008 22:55

X-posted! Norfolk worse I think, cos its not near anybody, Oxfordshire better.

triplets · 22/01/2008 23:02

Yes agree, just know that area is expensive, will keep looking!

MarsLady · 22/01/2008 23:34

I'll be jet lagged but that weekend in May works for me!

Chopster · 23/01/2008 08:27

I grew up in norfolk! The rail links there aren't great, nor the roads, so it prob isn't great for people coming from afar. I will def be driving if I come, and since we are looking later, I have plenty of time to twist dp's arm sweet talk dp!

I said on the other thread, I can def do station runs, and I'm happy to offer lifts to anyone, but not sure if I'm close enough to be of any use.

Oxfordshire is nice and expensive, I agree. not that far at all from me. Shame I don't have a whopping great bed house! Would a travelodge be cheaper?

Chopster · 23/01/2008 08:42

Thjere are some cheapish ones about - this works out about £636 for 3 nights (the minimum) if I am working it out correctly. sleeps 12, so that works out abt £50 each, not bad I think!

here

HarrogateMum · 23/01/2008 13:11

if people prefer to be near a train station why dont we do one night in a hotel in a city instead?

Am thinking Birmingham, Oxford, Manchester..........???

Thoughts?

OP posts:
HarrogateMum · 23/01/2008 13:12

that way would not have to worry about organising people to bring food etc.

ANyway let me know what you think.

OP posts:
tkband3 · 23/01/2008 13:52

That weekend's looks fine for me too. HM, an overnight-er in a city hotel sounds like a good idea, but I'll go with the majority. And am happy to travel anywhere - Birmingham is probably about central for everyone isn't it?

theslownorris · 23/01/2008 13:57

I'm free that w/e. I don't mind driving so I'm happy with whatever you go for .

Chopster · 23/01/2008 14:01

I don't mind a city. Manchester might be pushing it a bit though for the devon crowd.
