LG&T luck honey, and wine, and chocolate, and strong, strong coffee. All I can offer is ......we're here........shame you are on your own so early on, will your DP get some time off?

Marie, hello and come on in, you can have LG&T's recliner as she's now babymooning (she wishes). It does get really uncomfortable and I remember feeling like my bump was rock hard and the skin so, so tight. I was merrily expecting mine early and sat patiently waiting for weeks and weeks. I ended up overdue and had them a day short of 41 weeks. It was good though as they were 5lb 15oz and 6lb 13oz, needed no special care and fed well from the start. No matter the discomfort, hang on as long as the DTs allow is my advice. If you can, lounge anywhere in any position. I loved the pool. At my pregnancy yoga class the woman propped us up on the floor with a million cushions. Lie flat on a mat or duvet and pile cushions and pillows under your knees, ankles, round your hips, under elbows and wrists, at the nape of your neck, everywhere. You feel you look ridiculous but the full body support makes the bump feel lighter.

Hope she sticks around Mars, we might get a live birth Hey, I might cook!!!

MarsLady · 30/05/2007 21:05

We're here if you need us and even if you don't Marie.

There are more of us but they seem to be caught up in half term. Some have gone back to lurking but I'm sure will show their faces soon.

FG......... I'm keeping everything crossed for the live birth!!!!!!!!

Leoladyofleisure · 31/05/2007 11:10

Hi everyone,

LG&T, congratulations again mmmm, I'm just dreaming about the feeling of having a new born baby snuggled up to me.... it seems like an age ago that the dts were just born. Toby's second name is Oskar (but spelt with a K), I love the name !

Marie, huge sympathies... my dts are just over 3 months old, were born at 37 weeks. The last few weeks were hell but worth it as they came straight to the room with me after they were born no scbu. For me the worst was the pain in my ligaments around the bottom of the bump, i couldn't manage to do much more than drag myself up and down the stairs to bed and back at the end. My advice is to sit on the sofa and move as little as possible getting everyone else to run around after you ! If you can walk though keep getting out for some fresh air for as long as you can.

We are all doing well here, today is the first day for a while htat I have been home alone with the dts (hence not been on here for a while). I had my sister staying for a while then she left and the other one arrived for a couple of nights, the weather has also been fantastic so I have been spending time at the outdoor pool! Last weekend we also went for a long weekend caravaning.

The dts are doing great, they now want to be propped up on a lap and involved in everything, and I spend my life feeling guilty that i carry one more than the other, play wiht one more than the other, talk to one more than the other.... throw ds1 into the mix and the guilt doubles.

We think ds1 has chicken pox, but he only has 2 spots and hasn't really had any noticeable fever, he is more tired than usual though. Its just those spots look really wierd and i only had one spot when I had it (my mum also wasn't sure if it was chickenpox, but I have definitely had it).

Nights are still really bad, took the dts for jabs yesterday and the doctor realised how tired I was (yesterday was a particularly bad day) and gave me the number of a baby sleep consultant, apparently its a free service !

I'm still only bfing, but gaining huge amounts of weight, how can this be? aren't you supposed to lose weight bfing?

marie22 · 31/05/2007 11:31

sorry, new to this thing but what does bfing mean?

Chopster · 31/05/2007 11:32

hello marie! Welcome to mn. I had mine at 38 weeks by section due to breech presentation. I knwo how you feel, I was begging for weeks for them to be delivered, as I had a collapsed lung twice. It is worth it in the end, you jsut have to hang on in there.

Hope Beau settles down soon LGT, routines never last long at that age, so I'm sure it will sort itself out. Is 9lb2 your biggest then? ds1 was 9lb7, and it was a nightmare to push out. I really don't believe this stuff about size not mattering!

Leo, I know sme people don't loose until they stop, maybe it will all magically dissapear then! I wasted away while feeding, couldn't eat enough to keep up with them. I was quite glad to get some curves back once I stopped.

Hello to everyone else, hope you are all survieving half term! The weather is sooo crap! I've managed to chuck the kids out in the garden today, but it keeps clouding over. I hate being stuck in with all of them. I drove 12 miles yesterday to a supermarket jsut to get them out of the house. Then came home, locked myself in the kitchen and cooked lots of indian junk food.

Chopster · 31/05/2007 11:32

breastfeeding

MarsLady · 31/05/2007 11:35

Marie bfing... is breastfeeding! There's an acronym list at the top of the page, but we'll help out when you need it.

Leo.... well done! A free sleep consultant thingy........ go for it girl!!!!!!!!!! But make sure you tell them that bfing is your priority... that way they can fit it all in. So proud of you!

Don't worry about the guilt thing. It's a mother thing. If you had 1 you'd feel guilty that there was no sibling, more than 1 you feel guilty that there's not enough of you. Let it go and drink wine!

Trying to write yet another essay and waiting for the phone to ring as I have an imminent client.

Leoladyofleisure · 31/05/2007 12:19

Kelly at you not gaining weight. I have had to go out and buy new clothes, not something I am keen to do on my own with the dts...

Thanks Mars. BTW, I posted a very suspicious looking package to you today ! I hope it arrives before the weekend.... I should have more time again next week so will email you again.

Talking of wine, what are the rules about bfeeding and alcohol? I think I may have had a glass too much the other day, didn't seem to make any difference to the babies but I felt like sh!te!

Chopster · 31/05/2007 12:25

leo, I had to go out buying new clothes because I lsot weight, then I had to buy more when I put it back on. My poor dts spent most of their first year being walked up to the shops! It was guaranteed peace and quiet though.

Leoladyofleisure · 31/05/2007 13:17

I haven't found anywhere that I can try clothes on and see the pushchair at the same time and only found one place in zurich where I can go to the toilet without leaving the pushchair the other side of a closed door, so at the moment I am always relying on someone else to come with me .

Twinmummyx2 · 31/05/2007 13:38

chopster-i think it depends on the position of the baby aswell. With my 1st i had zillions of stitches an hour of pushing and she was 8lb 11 but was in an awkward position.

My 3rd was 10lb and just 6 mins of pushing, just a few grazes.

Marie..it is very uncomfortable in the last few weeks, not much can be done about it either, just remember to do things very slowly (movements) you don't want to be pulling muscles and ligaments at this time. I remember spending most of my time lying on my bed, sitting up was just too uncomfy! Mind you mine were big at 7lb 5 and 7lb 12! You'll feel like a size zero when they are born, you immediately feel better!

:0)

Oh the joys!!!!

Chopster · 31/05/2007 13:44

Oh leo I remember that nightmare. I used to not drink anything until I got back home, and would have to try things on when I got home. I've actually still got a few bits that have never fitted me, but I didn;t get round to taking back!

that is also true twinmummy. ds1 was a nightmare to push out, but I only had stitches with dd who was only 8lb.

frumpygrumpy · 31/05/2007 18:54

Hi ladies, good to see we're all packing out the couch again

Leo, we love you any which way. Like ChopsterKellybabe over there I wasted away too but I have heard loads and loads of people say the opposite. Really, really don't fret about it, it is temporary and I always feel it takes your body a good year, maybe a year and a half, to return to anything like normal after babies. Once you stop b/f your hormones and metabolism will change again. BTW I used to shove the trolley as close to the changing room curtain as I could then make a feeble attempt at pulling it round half the the buggy and then disrobe in front of the world. I'm not normally so free and easy but when the DTs were little I felt invincible.

Mars, "let it go and drink wine" I like it. Must remember that next time DP is propositioning me

we have a big storm right now, thunder and lightning, torrents of rain etc. I (the non social, non hostess, non confident, hider) am having 16 people for a BBQ at our house on Saturday and the weather is set to be pretty much like this. Holy Crapola. I need easy, easy, prepare in advance, so simple your 2yr olds could do it recipes please............ I was thinking glorious french bread open sarnies, hams, olives, etc. Can you make it more glamorous for me? I don't do this kind of stuff. I have wobbly legs.

oooggs · 31/05/2007 19:58

Hi Marie, my dt's are 9 weeks today and I was induced at 38 weeks cos I had enough, with 8 admissions to hospital the final straw being the asthma attack. I could hardly breathe, walk or look after ds who is 3.5.

I was also the size of a whale and carry 4.5 extra stone. The little horrors weighed in at 6lb 14oz & 7lb 14oz.

Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy, they will be worth it.

MarsLady · 31/05/2007 20:09

You're sending me the DTs aren't you? I can feel it in my water. You want to turn me into twinmummyX2... but I'm not playing I tell you. I'm not playing!

My blinking darling DTs are playing the up again, out again game. If I return them to bed one more time there will be hell to pay!!!!!!!!!!!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

So Marie.... having twins is nothing but joy

inamuckingfuddle · 31/05/2007 20:31

just popping in to report that dt2 now has the pox, 2 weeks and a day after dt1's outbreak why can't they just coordinate it?

Also to report...I have finally had my xmas pressie form DH - he bought me a 'sensory heaven' - full body massage and facial which I have only just got round to having and I can safely say it was wonderful

FG we are BBQing on sat too, I have been to M&S they have so many nice things it would be rude to DIY frankly

Twinmummyx2 · 31/05/2007 22:52

lol@mars.....

Leoladyofleisure · 01/06/2007 07:39

FG - keep it simple... do some nice meat on the on the bbq or fish (I can't get enough tuna from the bbq at the moment, I send dh out to cook it in all weather !) and add a a pasta salad to go with it. A tomato mozarella salad with really good balsamic and good bread as a starter!

No one gave me an answer to the question about alcohol and breastfeeding. Any one?

The dts have started grinning at each other now, so adorable !

IaMF (dingdong?), 'sensory heaven' sounds wonderful - enjoy! maybe your dh could drop a few hints to mine although he did finally manage to send me flowers for mothers day 2 weeks late !

FG, I'll think about your invincibility next time I shop for clothes.

Marie - another thing about twins is that you are never short of someone to talk to when you have them... the rest of you know what I mean! I am usually really polite but find myself completely blanking people and whizzing past them with the buggy if they are peeking in wiht 'that' smile on their face! Sometimes I feel as if my babies are some kind of freak show.

Mars - sympathies with the dts not going to bed, we have had some really bad evenings like that (except not as is only one child) with ds1, dreading when we hit that stage with the dts!

Chopster · 01/06/2007 09:22

fg, now you know I don't usually do jars, but sainsburys do a lemon and peri peri marinade in a jar that is absolutely lovely over salmon steaks and would be appropriately poncey.

To make a really easy and tasty pasta salad boil some paste in with a stock cube, then add cooked brocoli, cherry tomatoes, a tub of creme frais and a few spoonfuls of pesto. Sprinkle over pumpkin seeds before serving.

Another really easy side is to slice sweet potatoes really thinly and cover them in salt, lemon and tabasco then bbq.

for dessert how about fruit fool? That is really easy, whisk up a few tubs of thick cream with icing sugar (about a tablespoon per tub) and a dash of lemon and few drops of almond essence. Just taste until it is right, but try to stop before it is all gone! Then puree some fruit - strawberries is generally a hit, whirl that in, and put chopped strawberries on top for decoration.

Leo, don't worry the freakshow does pass a bit as they get older. Mine are def not getting so much interest now. Prob because they keep shouting out rude words! I bet triplets had to wait forever for that effect to pass though!

I'll have the dts mars, forward them on to me! Then I'll post MINE onto the next mummy.

leo, I found that if I had a few while bfeeding the babies would get very sleepy, which was rather a good thing! It def goes through to your milk, and I'm really nto sure if it has any ill effects or not, but a glass or two def shouldn't hurt.

menageriekeeper · 01/06/2007 09:52

Morning everyone. Half term is halfway over, thank goodness! My kids are generally good, but it's keeping them occupied and not involving the telly too much.

Breastfeeding and alcohol - as far as I'm aware, it's similar to when you were pregnant.

MarsLady · 01/06/2007 10:09

Don't stay away so long next time Menagerie

Leo.... your milk is made fresh every 3 hours. (I'm sure it's 3 not less.... need to search back of brain), so if you want to drink alcohol and not feel so bad then try to drink after the feed so that the fresh alcohol free milk is what the babies get. Personally, I always had a glass of red wine or guiness and my kids go to selective schools......

Chopster · 01/06/2007 10:12

I'm ME!
Paris So not fair! Are you sure you wouldn't notice a small elephant in your luggage allowance?

inamuckingfuddle · 01/06/2007 10:29

inamuckingfuddle · 01/06/2007 10:30
