I didn't want to be the one to do it! I promise next time I will sellotape my fingers.

Working on it dingdong

Hello all, very glad you are having an easier time of it Estar. You do deserve a break.

You are so right Kelly, motherhood is at the best of times tricky. Wish they all came with their own individual handbook complete with buttons on the side to correlate with each noise they make and what it means.

Of course i would love to hear the one in utero make a bloody noise....any noise. Pleeeese come out baby, all the other DC are off to stay with their Dad this weekend so i am free and clear to have a baby.....anytime.....now....................

frumpygrumpy · 11/05/2007 10:11

So you're all clear to have copious quantities of alcohol, curry and sex then?

OP posts:
largeginandtonic · 11/05/2007 10:24

I have been!!! Nothin.....baby likes it too much in there. Dont blame him really it is pretty noisy outside.

Might go and march up and down the stairs a few times, im not brave enough for the rasberry leaf capsules\cod liver oil etc. When labour gets going i will be lucky to get my pants off quick enough, Hugs was out in 40 mins

Hve got some of those pampers care mats and some old towels in case we dont make it to hospital, no bloody gas and air though I neeeeeeed it!!!!!

frumpygrumpy · 11/05/2007 10:28

Be a slob, the sitting still will get it out

Everyday that baby is inside it gets a little bigger, bigger means larger feeds, larger feeds means they sleep longer, which means more zeds for you. Keep that babe in til September and go straight to sleeping through and Pom Bears.

OP posts:
largeginandtonic · 11/05/2007 10:34

It is the getting bigger that scares me, Hugs was shoulder dystocia at 9lbs, i cant fit any bigger than that through my pelvis >

He did come out feed and feed, sleep and sleep a bit more, put on a lb every week for his 1st 5 weeks in the world! He was very efficient at boobing it

frumpygrumpy · 11/05/2007 10:36

Quick, swap your pelvis, have you got the receipt?

OP posts:
devondoris · 11/05/2007 11:06

You'll do it LGT! Pelvises can stretch! That's what the bit in the middle is for... . And a midwife's finger can sort out the shoulder stuff. Get reading some Ina May Gaskin - that should do the trick. Seriously, though I hope you're OK. Thinking of you!

Ooogs - I've got the MBF book on twins and sleeping if you'd like it? My email is [email protected]. Mail me your address. I start at 5ish and do: supper, then bath, then feed quietly with a story, then burps and cuddles, tuck into sleeping bag, dummies in, taggy blankets wrapped around their heads (they go over heads in winter and in the pram! ), kisses, night-nights, blackout blind up and curtains drawn, lights (if any) out, leave the room and close the door. Firmly.

I was going back a few times in the evening to replug dummies, reburp, recuddle, etc, all in the dark for a fair while, but at 6 months now I don't need to unless they've got a sticky burp which wouldn't move as they went to bed. All of the above takes til about 7.30, but also involves doing DD too. I always do the same routine every night so they know what's coming and what it means. Consistency and dark are the keys! If you can't see you get bored and then you might as well sleep as not... iyswim!

triplets · 11/05/2007 14:12

I am reading all of this and miss my babies, they were so good, now they are 9yr olds with attitudes, God help me!

largeginandtonic · 11/05/2007 14:27

Me too triplets, my DT turn 9 this year and all i get is cheek. I expected it at 11-12 but 8?????? Horrifying

Hoping this next one comes out all angelic like

May take FG's advice and see if i can get a refund on this pelvis. It is kinda knackered anyway, SPD is crippling me through the night. When i get up for a wee i limp most of the way to the bathroom looking like im about 100 years old! So where do i get a new one then FG?

frumpygrumpy · 11/05/2007 15:15

Mmmmm, I can't be sure, I traded my pelvis in for a Gillian McKeith book on How To Eat So Your Body Will Stay With You. Have to say I'm thinking of trading that in for a bottle of wine.

I think you girls will like this. I was tootling along on a MN thread this morning only to realise that I was tootling along with someone whose DS is at the same nursery I use! I had a mild panic, y'know, ran round the house a couple of times, sweating, squirted Bach Rescue Remedy on my tongue,in my ears and on my armpits. We confirmed it is the same nursery (quiet small) but of course I explained that I only do anonymity. I think she could sense I was a freak It would be desperately easy for her to work out who I am but she was lovely and said she wouldn't and calm is restored

lesliephillips · 11/05/2007 15:27

lordy FG you sound rather calm about the whole experience

I feel like I've lost touch with this thread recently...must try harder

I'm cooking lasagne at the mo which has involved opening red wine - is it too early? it is friday

triplets · 11/05/2007 16:43

LG&T, have you tried E-bay for the new pelvis, they seem to have most things

devondoris · 11/05/2007 22:41

LGT slightly less frivolous than ebay for a pelvis (sorry ) but have you tried tyiing it up with a sarong (or a sheet)? It may not help a great deal, but it can make a difference sometimes. You probably know more about it than me as it sounds as though you've had it before, but tying myself together did help mine with the boys. If you use a sarong you can a) look gorgeous and b) position it wherever you most need the support. I had it quite low, but I've seen pics of women with it wrapped around the whole bump to help with the weight bearing. Just a thought.

FG - LOL! But really kind that she wouldn't try to work out who you were! Good tip about rescue rem on the pits...

Kneehighinnappies · 12/05/2007 12:00

Morning all

Hope you are all doing well, me I have had no sleep but suprisingly in quite a good mood

Can I pick your brains once again. We have been doing controlled crying with the DT as they are little angels all day and as soon as they go up to bed they won't settle and there is no way I am rocking them off to sleep (made that mistake with DD1)

So they are both left to scream for about half an hour, it is bloody hard work doing it even though I'm not doing anything.
It has been waking dd1 up aswell, the poor little mite has actually been askig to go up to bed for her nap's she is that tired.

When it comes to their feed at 1am only one of them seems to wake up and we have to wake the other and then they don't take much milk and are up about 3 for thier 5am feed.
I have been putting them in bed with me as I can't be adding another feed into the night and they seem to settle until 4.30 at which point we feed them both.
Then back to bed and fingers crossed they stay down till at least 8am which is what time dd1 wakes up.
Lola keep waking up at 7ish so she is then back in bed with me.
I don't like doing that but I'm so tired I can't be arsed to get up at that time and I can't let her cry as it will wake up dd1.

How I can setlle them down a bit, do I leave the one who doesn't wake up at 1am until they do wake up.
I'm not sure what to do, but I don't really want to add anymore feeds into the night.
Shall I carry on with the controll crying and is there anyway to get them used to going to sleep at night. They are so good during the day I wan them to just drift off like that at night aswell.

Any ideas?

MarsLady · 12/05/2007 13:31

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm........... personally.... I would just keep them all in bed with me. Sleep is the key. However, if it's not for you it's not for you.

Glad everything else going so well though.

I'm sure the other multiple mums will come with idea. But I'm the lazy sort. If they all fit in the bed I would have them in bed with me. Not much help am I? lol

Kneehighinnappies · 12/05/2007 13:48

I would keep them in with me but I keep waking up every time I just go off thinking that they are under the covers, or I have rolled on top of them, so I end up getting less sleep

I only do it so that everyone else doesn't get disturbed.

Hope you had a great holiday BTW

MarsLady · 12/05/2007 13:50

I did darling. How's about you wear PJs and pop the wee ones in sleep sacs and lose the covers altogether. It will all work out soon.

How's the babymooning? Did you manage to get it all back on track?

Kneehighinnappies · 12/05/2007 14:05

Yeah they are both feeding really well, the time away didn't really effect them.

That would work if our house wasn't still under construction and really blooody drafty, even with the heating up full wack it is still bloody freezing

My Dh made me pmsl this morning, we were chatting about what we were going to do for dd1 b-day on the 5th june, he turned round and said to me very seriously "yeah we will have a bbq in the garden"
That's not funny I hear you say..........................oh but it is

our garden

lovely isn't it

my DH is nothing if he is not ambitious

MarsLady · 12/05/2007 14:07

I don't see why you're worried! PMSL!!!!!!!!!!

Kneehighinnappies · 12/05/2007 15:05

You think that's bad you should see the inside.

triplets · 12/05/2007 20:53

Just wondering how you are doing LG&T?

largeginandtonic · 12/05/2007 21:16

Im still here Triplets......due tomorrow.....means nothing i know that really. It is like torture though. I have a comedy bump now, you see it coming before i turn the corner. DH said something lovely the other night " its like having a present you cant open" How sweet is that!

Not that ima peeker of pressies under the tree at xmas but i soooooo want to see this one

FG, sorry but PMSL at you nearly being outed on MN, you do seem remarkably calm about the whole thing.

Mine were left to yell in their cot to get them off to sleep, it was hellish and drove me to distraction but was worth it in the end. I used to spend hours sat outside their door with a vast gin and tonic in hand. I was lucky though, the DT'S were my first so i had no others to worry about disturbing. Sendidng you lots of love and hugs, it is awful doing it.

Im going to try the sarong thing, hope it works. Looked on ebay for a new pelvis but no luck

Watching Eurovision, it is soooo funny.

triplets · 12/05/2007 21:40

Hi,
You sound in good spirits, what day do you fancy your babe being born on? I had Matthew on a Mon and the trio on a Tues. Sillt question really, its just I am sitting here sooooooooooooooooooooooooo bored! Whatever happened to Sat nights out on the town, all those lovely pub crawls.............. Sad as it may seem I too would like to be watching Eurovision because Terry Wogan is a hoot doing it. I have been out voted by trio and husband who are all watching Dr Who on dvd. So here I am, and there are not many of you around to keep me company. Guess you are all either watching Eurovision or out on the town. Just thought LG&T what about trying some pole dancing, maybe that would get baby moving
Oh no, the cat has just sicked up a fur ball......aghh!

largeginandtonic · 13/05/2007 12:03

Pole dancing...... I may have to invest in a reinforced one to carry the 12 stone of me!

All mine have been born on a Thursday or saturday. The DTS were 8.41pm and 8.43 on sat eve. DD was 8.40 on thursday eve, DS#3 was 1.40 on sat morning and ds#4 was 8.20 on thursday eve. Can you see a theme?!! Quite freaky really. So i think next tursday or next saturday is likely at around 8

Eurovision is indeed only watchable for the commentary of Terry Wogan. It has me in stitches every time.

I wish the rain would stop, it just make everything that bit harder

triplets · 13/05/2007 18:46

Hi Lg&t,
Oh golly I weigh almost 13 stone and Im not pregnant!!!!!!!!!!!My excuse is that I am 6ft tall! Truly. Yes what a day, felt fed up this morning, so over we went to Homesbase and Tesco, dead exciting. Intended treating myself to something nice, ended up treating the trio and managed to spend more money on FOOD and nothing for moi, not even a mag! Thrilling afternoon watching the 7th Adventureof Sinbad and now they are waiting for roast dinner and husband has a long face cos I havent made a pud!! At 6.50pm I suggested he get his apron on! To be concluded.
